"Charged for minor scratches on plastic bumper"
There were 3 minor scratches on the front bumper of the car at pick up, which I didn't think warranted being photographed. When I returned the car they said I would be charged to repair them because i had no evidence that they were already there. They measured the scratches as under 5cm and superficial . Really they are more like scuffs than scratches. And now they have charged me 850 euros for repair. They will not or can not show me from the contract how they have calculated the charge and where in the contract it defines what can be charged for.
Moral of the story - photograph everything and if in doubt get one of the staff to witness anything you find

"Very poor service"
Very rushed procedure - despite having a pre-arranged pick up - due to the queue at the check in and the lack of staff, it took over an hour for me to reach the front of the desk and another hour for me to receive my car.
Whilst waiting I heard customers being told their travel insurance would not cover the car excess and they had to pay for extra insurance (not true) and being pushed into optional extras.
I was told to prepay for fuel as this was the cheapest rate around (also not true). I was charged a fixed amount and told this would cover topping up what was left in the car and also toll charges and any extras would be reimbursed - also not true. There was a clause which was in a link on the online contract that I was not given time to read pertaining to this.
I have rented cars from a number of agencies in the past but have never seen this level of dishonesty and would never use this company again.
I would advice any potential renters to read the contract carefully and to check with their travel insurance companies in advance before being convinced to pay unnecessary additional charges.

"If I could give minus stars I would"
If I could give minus stars I would.
Rented a VW polo for a 8 day vacation in Ireland, and never had such a bad rental experience.
1/ We waited for 1,5 hours for pick up, even though there were only 5 people in line in front of us.
2/ On the last day the right rear tire blew up while we were going 120 km/h on the highway, not just a puncture, it shredded to pieces. I called the customer service and they dispatch a contracted roadside assistant company. Less than 20 min after talking with the tow truck driver I called back and cancelled the assistance, as we had received help from other side. Neither from customer service nor the tow truck driver did I get any info about additional cost.
3/ Back home I received an invoice for Road side assistance for 200€. I email customer service to get the charge voided, as we didn’t receive road side assistance. Over the email communication with customer service I get 3 different explanations to the charge. (I didn’t inform the issue had been solved, they had been billed so they had to bill me, it was a puncture and not they fault)
4/. I was never informed I would be charged for the roadside assistance. I was not informed by customer service that there was a spare tire in the car, which could have saved me a lot of problems. The customer service was absolutely non-existing, both at pick up, on the phone and on email. Not even recognition of the bad experience.
Clearly they let people rent faulty cars and couldn’t care less if there’s an issue with them. Even if it potentially could cause a fatal accident.
STAY AWAY FROM SIXT!!!

"Recently rented a car from Sixt Dublin"
Recently rented a car from Sixt Dublin
I would not recommend this company for the following reasons :
1 Booked a VW Polo or similar , were given a Fiat Panda.
2 Needed to change car as too small and arranged to do at Cork airport. Smooth change , paid the difference for the larger car. No issue with new car .
We had prepaid for our fuel at commencement of rental agreement so were recommended by Sixt customer service to return car to Cork with a full tank of fuel and the prepaid would be honoured when we completed the rental agreement in Dublin at completion of same.
4. Returned car to Dublin and noticed in final invoice we were charged for our fuel twice, despite returning the car to cork with a full tank !
Sixt were very reluctant to refund fuel money but eventually did apparently out of the goodness of their heart not because they wrongly charged us !!!
5. There is an initial charge of 100 euros for tolls or fines which apparently is refunded minus those charges if incurred !
There is a fine print option called ‘incidentals’ of which there are too many to list according to customer service! Changing the car despite paying for the upgrade is an ‘incidental ‘ ?? Therefore no refund.
6 . Possibly this is a common occurrence because we did witness a customer disputing the return of her 100 euro deposit when we were waiting to pick up our car in Dublin.
Bottom line, Sixt may look a cheaper option to start however beware hidden charges.

"I have rented cars from sixt before in…"
I have rented cars from sixt before in several other coutries, and I always had exceptional experiences. Not this time. They always showed us the car on the screen and asked if it would be fine, they always were very helpful and polite. This time, instead of a VW Polo, they gave is a Dacia Sandero. Although these may be the same size, I would definitely not call them the same category. It just doesn’t worth the same price, as they are not the dame price at the car dealer either. I hope that it will be able to handle the few thousand kms that we plan to drive in the next 6 days. I tried to ask for an other type of car, but they said there was nothing else available. When we picked up the car in the parking lot, this was the only Dacia standing there. It is really a shame and i will surely not rent a car from Sixt in Ireland any more.

"We rented a car from Sixt"
We rented a car from Sixt, Dublin City. What a complete shitshow! We were there early, before they opened and there were 4people in front of us and 4 people behind. I accept they were busy, BUT the absolute rude service we received from this so called customer service person made me very angry. This person has NO business being in customer service as she lacks any concept of the meaning of customer service. Maybe she would be best suited at a gas station.
On returning the car 7 days later, I was ready to tackle this imbecile, but we had a very lovely young man attend to us and he was extremely helpful.
My mind has not changed in regards to Sixt, they are still operating far below satisfactory service levels.
We will never use SIXT again
