"Time Wasters! "
Got a cold call from Solar Eco, again! Usual script, “Don’t worry, this not a sales call. its about your solar panels, we just happen to be in your area tomorrow, and would like to do a free, no obligation, survey and inspection of your panels”. Since my original installer, Apple, went bust some 10 years ago, I’ve had 16 of these calls, from different solar firms who have sold or passed on my details like a hot potato - all promising the same, full of horse and hot air, and producing nothing in return. This is the second cold call I’ve had from Solar Eco, you’d think they’d cross me off their list from my last review, but No, these thickies just keep coming like an unstoppable machine, so I just carry on with the same negative reviews like an unstoppable machine. 43% negative reviews now, propped up by some 57% dubious or fake 5 star reviews, just about sums this firm up. Just put the phone down and don’t let’em into your property.

"Not industry accredited. "
This company does not appear to be MCS accredited- a must for any reputable solar installation company. They have contacted me several times saying that they are working on behalf of Schott Solar (the panel manufacturer) and need to check my system to approve the panel warranty. That isn’t how warranty works and I can find no evidence that Schott are having that sort of work done. I think it’s a scam.

"Five Star Solar Installation"
Ross and Ryan, were punctual, professional and polite completing the work to a great standard. We had a solar i-boost to heat our hot water and also a bird protection cage around the solar panels. All in all, we were very pleased with the final result of the installation they carried out. Would highly recommend.

"Great Service"
I had a full solar system installed with a 5kWh battery and an I-boost. Making some good savings now on electric and gas. Ross was very helpful in setting up the apps for the system. Would highly recommend this company 👍🏼

"I don’t normally write reviews however…"
I don’t normally write reviews however on this occasion I decided too.
I had looked up Solar eco on here before my appointment and read some of the reviews and was a little cautious because of some of the bad ratings.
I thought I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and see what they have to say and the prices they come up with. I already have knowledge on Solar due to my previous property but they didn’t know this.
I met the lovely Liam, he was extremely knowledgeable and very fair on price. We agreed an install date and time. Install day comes and they’re here when they said they would be. Very neat job. Tidied up after themselves and were very polite. Explained how to use everything “at this point I did admit I knew about Solar ;)” I’m thrilled with the product. My bills have reduced and the system looks great.
If I ever need anything Solar again I will be for sure calling them. fair priced and tidy work.

"Absolute rogue company"
Totally unscrupulous and untrustworthy people. Absolutely avoid at all costs. These are the kind of people you dread to have any dealings with.

"Highly recommend"
We wanted a solar system with a storage battery, we contacted Solar Eco Uk & Ross came out to discuss our options, he was friendly & knowledgeable, he helped us decide which system to have to best suit our needs. After agreeing a price & installation date Ross’s installers arrived promptly on the day & fitted our new system, they were polite & professional & left the site clean & tidy, we were given full instructions on how to get the best out of our system & we are now saving a considerable amount of money. we’ve had follow up calls from Ross to check we are happy & to offer any support we may need in the future. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Solar Eco Uk as we found the experience from the first visit to full installation a pleasure.

"Do not touch"
Following on from our initial order, in March 2022, two promises of the delivery, (April) there was a delay in the inverter arrival. At this point, I spoke to Ross who gave me a ‘drop down’ date of the 30th June 2022 with a guarantee that if it arrived sooner, it would be fitted sooner, but the very last date would be the 30th June.
The inverter and batteries by this stage was the delay (apparently) so I asked for the panels to be placed as they were available. They reluctantly agreed to provide them if we paid them £8,000 (twice what they alone cost according to the quote). They were plonked along a hedge with no concrete bedding to secure them.
Following on from that, I had a conversation with Ashley who informed me of a further delay, the new date being today, 5th July 2022. While this was a shame, we came to an agreement, given we were on holiday from the 1st July 2022 that Solar Eco Uk would pay my builders day rate to be there while we were away for access to the garage in order for the install to proceed. Ashley agreed to this without question.
Less than a week before, I spoke to Ashley to confirm the time of arrival for the 5 July and Ashley confirmed that this would be at 9.30am on the 5th July 2022. After that, I had one further conversation about the merits of the iboost vs the Eddi. At no point had I spoken to Ross since our conversation about the drop dead date of the 30th June 2022.
5th July arrived, when we called to find out if everything was going to plan, Ashley informed my husband that Ross had spoken to me to inform me that the install wouldn’t happen until August. That conversation with Ross never happened. My builder by this point was on site, awaiting their arrival, on paid time, which as agreed with Ashley, was at their expense.
At this point, Ashley also informed us that the inverter was now in the country but Ross didn’t want to make more than one journey to us, therefore wanted to wait until August when he hoped that the batteries would have arrived. At this time, I requested for the inverter and existing battery, sitting in our garage, to be installed whilst awaiting the final two batteries. Ross then called from an unknown number to say that the inverter was not in the country as Ashley had previously confirmed it was and therefore was not going to be able to do what we asked.
In the meantime, part of the quote was for them to dig the cable from the solar panels to the garage for connection to the converter. As we were laying a new patio, our builders did this for them, at our expense and we have never asked for a revised quote to take this into account.
As a final point, I have handed Ashley two very lucrative recommendations locally, I have done my utmost to promote their business. From my understanding, Ashley has turned up to both properties and had a ‘chat’ and then been asked by both, multiple times for a quote, with no response.
I asked on two occasions for something in writing from the manufacturer to explain the delay in the inverter.. this wasn’t a big ask. There is only one reason I can see that they wouldn’t want to provide this and that is that it didn’t exist and Ashley was correct in that it is in fact in the country but Ross didn’t want to make two journeys.
In all the service was unacceptable and unprofessional.
Since then we thankfully found another company to complete the job. I sent all of this over email to Ross and Ashley and received no response, over 2 months later. Silence. We are perusing this with the ombudsman, our MP and the media as we don’t want anyone else to suffer from these cowboys.
