I've been a Southern Fuels customer for many years and have never had any problems. I have an account with the company and am in their automatic top-up scheme. Unfortunately, I ran out of oil on 27th March and realised I hadn't had a delivery since 5th January, which is unusual because I've always had delivery within two months in winter. Running out of oil causes a bit of a hassle as it means I cannot cook, have no hot water, or heating, and I have to relight our Aga, which isn't straightforward. The boiler also needs an engineer to remove the air lock. I was told my delivery was due on the 29th March and that I would be the first delivery of the day. However, it didn't arrive until 10am. Meanwhile, SF sent out an engineer to restart the boiler (but only after I pointed out I would have to call someone out), which was great until they charged me for this service. The charge has now been removed since I emailed about it. Also, someone called me from Western Fuels and pointed out that I had stopped being a customer last year and restarted again, as if that was an excuse for the lack of top-up in time. This all happened amidst my partner being seriously ill in a hospital ICU (which I told SF about when I called them), hence me not thinking about the oil level. I will continue as a customer, but am a bit disappointed with my recent experience.

Painless delivery, driver left the delivery note, we checked the tank monitor and the oil was in there, brilliant. Thanks!

"Delivery was when we were out"
Delivery was when we were out. No issues with delivery but the delivery note was left on the patio in the pouring rain. This meant it couldn’t read so didn’t know the amount until the invoice was received. How hard would it be to post the delivery note through the letterbox like other companies do?

Our go to supplier, always use them, they are quick from order date to delivery compared with Boilerjuice and nearly always cheaper. An online admin fee of £12 has recently been added to orders which is slightly disappointing!

Good Company, delivers on time. Only problem was they didn’t leave a delivery note, the only way to check quantity delivered. Phoned office and got a half hearted apology and said quantity would be shown on invoice, they did advise quantity over the phone, but not correct way to do it, could have given any figure. However will still continue to use them.

"Online charge of £12. Cheaper? Really? "
As a loyal customer of over 12 years, I ordered online for the 1st time, process was fine and my oil delivered as promised. Only issue was the fee for ordering online, it felt as though this was hidden away and appeared on my invoice. Maybe my fault, but 1st time using online it wasn’t obvious there was a fee. Online supposed to be cheaper but after the fee is it really? Spoke with the office and still confused and not convinced. Online supposed to deliver cheapest price, but if you speak to the office there is a different price available, which after allowing for the online fee, might mean that online is more expensive. As a loyal customer currently not feeling good, but SF are a good company and always looked after us. I will try one more time and be closer to the impact of this fee.
