"For our small firm there undisclosed …"

For our small firm there werre undisclosed costs and costly technical issues

Ask about the things I identify here before you sign a lease if you have two or more attorney/employees.
.

Your small firm will need the following from the landlord:(1) its own IP address for its own network; and (2) working computer ports in the walls to plug your computers, servers and devices so they connect using your standard IP addresses. Instant network! A reputable shared facilities s will do what is called "switching" the ports to your IP address.

You are required to have your own IP address (network) by rules of ethics. You do not need to do anything else to set up you network but plug in your server and workstations, once you check there is a port . Your computers should all be able to "see" each other because your ports are on your IP address

Amata is atypical. Unlike other shared facilities, lacks equipment to switch ports. Amata does not disclose this. It is misleading because when you sign the lease your will see the ports in the walls and assume they work on IP address for which Amata bills you.

But once you sign the Amata lease, you will find that out of all the ports in your leased space, only one of your ports will work on your firm's IP address. The rest connect to the a unsecured network. (Atttorneys are not permitted to use unsecured networks.

This was the beginning of our hidden costs.

After signing a lease and being told for four month, Amata was working on the issues, Amata ffinally stated to my firm they could not get the ports working and broke the news I was expected to pays to invest In Amatas legacy system equipment to get the ports working. The .took me to their server room. They showed me a massive wall of tangled cables, none were labeled, and I was told I would need to hire an IT person to assess the situation and buy a special component to place between the Amata firewall and cable panel. Amata had no system documentation or procedures.

I have not yet agreed to build out Amata's legacy system and upgrade it. Even if I agree to an open ended time and material contract Amata wants me to sign with their IT person , my network will not have access to Amata's awesome shared, high-speed printer we were shown when we signed a lease. We will not be able to print from our computers as expected, The Amata shared printer does not support connectivity from small office network, only from the open network

And I will need new phones for my little office since we only have two line phones, unlike other shared office spaces which accommodate a larger and more reasonable number of lines.

I will have thousands of dollars of "sunk" IT costs that I would not have if I simply rented non-shared space and got Internet.

Don't accidentally sign a lease without the state-of-the art equipment in place that attorneys need for a small office network Ask the right questions .

"hidden costs around every corner!"

I moved our business address to Amata in 2014. Unfortunately it wasn't what we needed so we continued to use it as a street address and work virtually.
Several times over the years there would be an increase in the monthly fees because they had to service our account...meaning pick up our mall and email me about packages. They don't tell you that there is an additional fee for this when you're signing up!
In July 2016 we signed up with WeWork. Unfortunately I was on automatic contract renewal for Amata. When our contract was up, the agreement unceremoniously rolled onto the next year.
I was 14 days late in notifying them about canceling and therefore I'm stuck paying for an additional year. They reduced the amount from $200 to $121 but since then they charge me more for getting packages - $11 in the month of December. I can't wait until the term is completed and I don't have to deal with this crap any more or pay $121 / monthly for nothing except frustration.

"Modern, clean offices with great locations and helpful staffing."

Moving from the suburbs into the City was big transition. After touring a handful of shared office providers, the amenities and value of Amata's offering tipped the scales. Now a year of office experience with them, I can say it was the best choice. They continue to impress me how they go over and above every day with a smile.

"Past tenant wishing to get back"

When my former firm was a tenant at 180 North La Salle, I found the office configuration, the system and the over all environment to be professional, yet relaxed and collegial at the same time. The Amata staff was always courteous and friendly, and more than willing to assist in any way possible. From one who didn't want to move there in the first place, I became a true believer. It felt like home. I hope to find my way back.

So far the service is good, I will suggest that Amata should offer monthly and or Weekly rented offices too.

"very nice people"

The Amata office environment is clean, pleasing, inviting. I do feel odd stepping into the management office on the 28th floor, finding it cramped and uncomfortable not at all consistent with the rest of the functioning hallways and common areas. Very odd. But somehow the management team seems to function in that space. I like the kitchen makeover and the cool smaller drinks area, as well as the reading space near the window and the working rooms lining the wall. All generally positive, I'd say.
