"Disappointed. Overcharging and Misleading"
I have to say, that my booking experience WAS great.. That was until I found out some truths from the team at the paintball location..
I found Bedlam paintball online and began enquiring about my booking. I initially wanted the Burnley site, but was advised that they have been let down with bookings in the past at this pop up site, so was advised to book Chorley instead.. I was under the impression that Bedlam was a Nationwide Company with paintball sites across the UK, given that they go under the alias of 'Nationwide Paintball'.. So no questions asked. I enquired about paintball and was advised to book paying £35pp to include all equipment and 300 paintballs. I was specifically told that I could pay a lower deposit of £10pp, but then the paintballs would be £9 per 100 balls on the day - and this would work out more - so I went ahead and asked my friends for £35 each.. I was told 'Chorley', but was not given a name of the site I was going to until AFTER my booking was paid and confirmed. Therefore, it was unclear that Bedlam were a 3rd party site (such as Booking.com is for hotels).
Regardless, I made the booking and I have to say, the gents I spoke to were really friendly so its a shame to have to write this scathing review.
At the time of booking, there was a £14 'booking fee', which I had not been made aware of previously, so I had to pay this myself. Annoying, but fine. I was told to arrive for 9am. I received directions to the site.
The day before the booking, I received a phonecall from Jonathon at Douglas Valley Paintballing, changing the timings and expressing his concerns regarding Bedlam. He was horrified to learn that Id been significantly overcharged by this company - and that where I'd been told paintballs would've cost £9 on the day, that was untrue, and it was actually only £5. He also stated that Douglas Valley do NOT take a booking fee, so I would've been another £14 better off there too. He then told me that £35pp is much more expensive than they charge direct...
I understand that Bedlam are making bookings on behalf of Douglas Valley now, although this is certainly not clear throughout the process - but they shouldn't be charging twice as much to the customers. A third party site should charge the same prices, and get commission back from the vendor - not seemingly exploit the customers and not offer any of this extra earned money to the actual vendor. Not only that; but the way that Bedlam are advertising makes it look like they are the only option. They do not even give you the details of the venue until after payment has already been made. For me, it was too late - but hopefully reviews like this can prevent others booking and getting ripped off.
Like I said earlier, its a shame to write this, as the gents I spoke to on the phone from Bedlam appeared really friendly and helpful, which is the only reason I cant put that they were 'rude' and give a red review. However, this experience is unacceptable, and inadequate.
