"10/10 experience all the way around!"
My experience with the Green Valley staff and guide and porter were 10/10! I am a solo female traveler and I had several unexpected issues present before and during my trip and the entire experience was as seamless as possible due to the excellent quality of care and consideration of my experience. I am very grateful and will definitely be returning to use the team again. My guide Durga was phenomenal in every way and a great trekking partner. My porter Samdu was amazing as well and I thoroughly enjoyed their company during my Annapurna trek. Highly recommend the entire team!

"Trek to Annapurna Base Camp"
I am not a person who does online write-ups but this time I feel compelled to do so because of this unbelievable wonderful experience. As a well traveled hiker in the US and other places in the world, I had always dreamed about seeing the tallest mountains in the world. However, planning a trip to Nepal was difficult because of needing enough time off (I am a 59 year old doctor), and frankly my concerns about altitude and fear of getting sick in a foreign country. (I did well on both concerns.)
I am so lucky I learned about Green Valley Nepal Trekking from someone very well travelled. She assured me when she used them how great a company it was as far as being professional, accommodating, and knowledgeable that truly had a desire to make sure you had a fantastic experience. This is all absolutely true! I couldn’t get over how easy it was to correspond with Arjun (one of the two owners. The other is Raj who my friend worked with). We were able to correspond easily by text, email and by phone on WhatsApp. I was impressed by the way he always got back to me promptly. When working with other excellent American travel companies such as Backroads or Boundless Journey, they often had to take days to get in touch with their contact in the foreign country to get back to me and often had limited flexibility even on private trips. With Green Valley you cut out the middleman, which has great advantages. One, you get your your answers direct from the source who is on the ground and knowledgeable, not a middleman who acts like a relay station. Secondly, your cost is much more reasonable and you feel good that your payment is going directly to the hard working local people who are really running the trip.
I contacted Arjun often before the trip. He was always very open to all my detailed and neurotic questions and while he gave me choices and was open to my requests, he always steered me in the right direction.
My trip was a private one to Annapurna Base Camp with a private guide and 2 porters. Arjun himself, picked me up at the airport and took me to my superb Marriott hotel in Kathmandu. Promptly I met Krishna my trekking guide and likely my lifelong friend. Krishna is a super enthusiastic, friendly and dedicated guide who has worked for Green Valley I believe for about10 years. Despite having plans to have a separate private guide at the end of the trip in Kathmandu, Krishna was available to walk me around Kathmandu which he did until I was too exhausted. By the way, I am from the NYC area and know how to drive and walk the streets of Manhattan but truly was outside of my element and needed help crossing the streets of Kathmandu that first day.
The next day we flew to Pokhara where I had a wonderful tour there and had my last day to recover from jet lag for the main attraction, the trek. The next 10 days were spectacular, hiking with Krishana and my 2 Supermen (they are technically called porters. But I am telling you, Sahila and Bhim are each a Superman.) These three people on my team, were so happy to see me enjoying myself, and they did everything they could everyday to help find ways to make it easier or more enjoyable for me. Krishna often called ahead to the tea house we were going to stay in to make sure I got the best room. I so enjoyed spending time with these three guys. The gods of Nepal must have been on our side this trip. We had fantastic weather and views the first 2 weeks of November. The one time we had a little rain was right after we arrived at our tea house for the day, but with great humility when I said to Krishna that was so lucky, he responded, “that just proves what a great guide I am.”
I will ramble on to anyone who will listen to me since returning from this trip about the stunning hike, the monkeys that came out to entertain us on the trail, the excellent vegetarian food I was surprised to enjoy so much, the amazing star gazing at Annapurna base camp and fortuitously after the trek being lucky enough with Krishna to see the Buddhist Monkey Temple, the Aarati ritual ceremony at the Hindu Pashupati Temple and witness the celebration of the Festival of Tihar on returning to Kathmandu.
My experience from beginning to the end of this trip with Green Valley was perfect. Arjun the owner and my team that I trekked with fantastic. They were honest, friendly positive and beyond helpful. You will want to tip your guides and porters well. You will see, they earned it.
While I thought this trip to Nepal was a once in a lifetime trip. I was wrong. I am already planning another trip with Green Valley with Krishna as my guide during rhododendron season in the spring.
Let me very clear. I without hesitation, will tell you most of your issues with planning a trek to Nepal are over if you decide to use Green Valley.

"My friends and I did the Annapurna…"
My friends and I did the Annapurna Circuit Trek and had an amazing experience! Arjun took care of everything from the office and our guide Purba along with our 4 porters did a great job making the trek a comfortable and enjoyable experience. This is a great local guide company which I 100% recommend.
We made some modifications which I will suggest below:
- Go for a private bus from Kathmandu instead of the public one ($20pp, well worth it)
- Fly from Pokhara back to Kathmandu instead of taking the bus ($100+ extra, 30min flight or 9 hour bus right? Think about it.)
- Spend more time in Pokhara, it is a much more enjoyable city than Kathmandu.

"Arjun, guide Gokarna, & Green Valley Nepal team are amazing!! 🙌"
I went on the 10 day Everest Base Camp private group trek with helicopter back to Kathmandu with my 2 brothers and my sister-in-law Nov 3-12, 2023.
I'd highly recommend this trekking company. Arjun the business owner used to be a Nepal guide himself for many years before starting his own trekking company. They know the experience well, and they've thought of every detail to make your trip to Nepal wonderful. From briefing us with trip details & packing list beforehand, arranging airport pickup/dropoff, hotels before and after the trek, helicopter flights, and all the details of the trek itself, they made this a very well-planned, smooth, and fun trip. Arjun is always super responsive and helpful over WhatsApp, and helped accomodate us when we needed to add an extra person, and when we wanted to switch our itenerary to stay in Dingboche an extra day to acclimatize to the altitude. They also had great recommendations for things to see in Kathmandu for our last day before the flight out.
Their whole team speaks very good English, and are really friendly, knowledgeable, humble, and fun. Their partnering helicopter pilot actually climbed to the very top of Everest two years ago and was sharing his experience — so cool to meet him! After the pilot dropped us off back in Kathmandu, Arjun invited us to dinner with his lovely wife and two adorable kids, and even took us to see all the lights and colorful sand art around town, as it happened to be Diwali.
If you're doing the Everest Base Camp trek, ask if our guide Gokarna is available! Green Valley Nepal has 40+ guides (I haven't met all of them and I'm sure they're wonderful since Arjun & his team vets them all), but I can personally vouch that Gokarna is truly amazing! My siblings and I had so much fun hiking with him. He not only is a super planner and took care of every detail along the trek, from hotels, meals, and the hike itself, but he's also so much fun to hike with. I haven't met someone before with such positive energy, warmth and joy, and truly loves guiding his clients, making friends with them, and making sure they have a really fun and memorable time! He shared with us about the Nepali and Sherpa culture, learned about ours, and shared with us trekking & Everest history. It was so nice to have a local Nepali as our guide. He's friends with so many of the other guides, porters, and hotel & restaurant owners — it was fun; it felt like we were hanging out with friends at the various stops. Gokarna would even run uphill at all the prettiest photo spots to help hold a spot for us so we didn't have to wait as long in the photo line — I don't know how he's never out of breath; my brothers and I are panting going uphill. 😆 One of the days my brother lost his favorite hat at a previous pit stop, and Gokarna was so sweet to run back over a mile to try to find it for him. Gokarna is very caring and attentative, and helped take care of my brothers who weren't feeling well toward the higher altitude. Us two girls didn't get any altitude sickness (girl power 🙌😜). Gokarna would guide us at a pace that worked for all of us, and also made sure we're safe during bridge and yak crossings, and icy sections. He is also very funny, joked around with us, and kept us positive and excited even though some days our legs were dead tired.
I am excited to come back and hike other beautiful treks in Nepal again! Will definitely be using Green Valley Nepal and requesting Gokarna as my guide 😊 I am genuinely happy to support this small business and all the wonderful Nepali people they hire.

"Trip of a Lifetime"
We successfully completed our trip of a lifetime with green valley. They were fantastic from day one with regard to everything. The main guide Bishwa and assistant guides Karen and Revanth were so helpful and great throughout the journey. Arjun was always available for all the queries and that made the planning for this trip easier. Really grateful to Green Valley for everything. Special thanks to our porters too- the unsung heroes of the mountains.
