"Good service."

After seven months and 14 letters to GWR the Rail Ombudsman settled the matter for me in just over a week.

"Frustrating matter rapidly resolved."

Despite two messages to the rail company, I had received no acknowledgement or response. With a few days of referring my issue to the Rail Ombudsman, they had contacted the rail company, and shortly after, received a full and acceptable response.
Being ignored by the rail company added to the original irritation and I was very pleased that the Rail Ombudsman had been able to resolve the matter, on my behalf, rapidly and satisfactorily.

"Amazing "

After attempts to recover from AWC a suit case and getting no response I took my complaint to the Railombudsman who took it up with AWC,
I have now received compensation.However I feel that this would not have been possible without the expertise of the lady put in charge of my situation

"Excellent Speedy Service"

After months of dreadful to no service from Avanti West Coast to refund tickets via their (broken) Delay Repay process, we contacted the Rail Ombudsman in a last ditch effort to get the 100% refund we were entitled to. Living overseas apparently makes it even more difficult for AWC in this digital age #railfail2024 ... but not the Rail Ombudsman. Within a couple of weeks we had the refund in our bank account - a huge thankyou to Connor H who kept in touch with us throughout the process and was so helpful after a such a frustrating experience - highly recommend using the RO!

"Quick, simple, effective."

Had long delays (3 months) with TfW getting refund back, finally decided to get in touch with the Ombudsman and I got my money back within a week + £10 apology. Highly recommend.

"Thank goodness for the Rail Ombudsman"

Thank goodness for the Rail Ombudsman because without their help we should all have to resort to expensive litigation which only a very few could afford and thus the Rail Companies would persist, as some still do, in obfuscation and prevarication and economy with the truth, thereby avoiding justifiable claims for compensation. This is the second occasion upon which I have had to take recourse to the Rail Ombudsman's service and I am mightily pleased with the speed (within their remit) and quality of service they provide. My dispute with GWR began in September; now resolved in January! I have a 'batting order' of Rail Companies' service: 'Grand Central' offer an Express Train for customer service; all the others seem to stop their trains at every Wayside Halt!

"Very helpful"

Very helpful, clear and communicative. Right from first contact and a tel call they made to make sure I was clear on how it worked and what happens next, through to a final follow up on agreed resolution. The train company were pretty awful before, during and after mind you.

"The Rail Ombudsman helped me"

The Rail Ombudsman helped me after I was experiencing delay and obfuscation from LNER after a delayed Leeds/London train in July. It seems that LNER have a “reputation” of delaying payment. Even after reaching a settlement with LNER they delayed payment past the ’20 working days’ and I had to ask the Ombudsman to chase them. It worked and payment was made shortly after. It is imperative we “users” have the Ombudsman Service to keep the Train Operating Companies honest and respecting the agreements they make.

"Excellent efficient service"

Having got nowhere with 3 rail companies who were each denying responsibility for the train delays/ cancellation I experienced I contacted the Ombudsman. I was impressed by the speed and efficiency with which they dealt with my complaint, keeping me updated as things progressed. One rail company reimbursed my ticket within an hour of hearing from the Ombudsman and the other within a day.
I would highly recommend using this service to those experiencing problems with unresponsive rail companies
