"Glad I had trip insurance"

Glad I had trip insurance! Karma will get them for sure. They have a cool $15k if my money that was never sent to the 3rd party for the bookings. I feel for anyone that can’t get their money back.

"Custom Tahiti went out of business 4…"

Custom Tahiti went out of business 4 days prior our departure. They cashed our check happily a month before and then canceled all our confirmed reservations 24h before departure to our wedding in Bora Bora. The money they got back from the canceled reservation "blank" . Chances that we see our money are little. The fact how they handled the situation ("the business just simply failed") is unacceptable. They not just "blank", they also destroyed our dream of getting married in Bora Bora. We are going to continue researching this and file as many claims as possible till we see results.
Edit: had to change my post because trustpilot will not let me write what really happen with my money. Guess someone at custom tahiti is still reading these post and complaining about facts that actually happen.

"Not Happy With Custom Tahiti Travel"

My wife and I had trip planned for our 20th anniversary; we contacted Custom Tahiti Travel for this once in a lifetime opportunity; we put a $3500 deposit down in June of 2018; my wife and I were in Scotland when we got the news that the company closed shop and was filing for bankruptcy; as of the moment, we have gotten our deposit back because we used a credit card, but there is a caveat; the refund is pending review with our cc company. I spoke with their attorney and all I was told to do was go to our cc company and advise them of what happened and they will provide a letter if needed; we got the letter but it was more of a too bad, so sad type of letter. we were contacted by the company they were doing business with in Tahiti advising us that they still had our reservations but can I trust them; you don't hold a reservation without getting money and now, we are not planning anything until the dispute with the cc is resolved. Thanks Custom Tahiti; karma is gonna catch you big time.

"Operations suspended without reason and no refunds being issued"

Operations suspended. Payments accepted and no refunds issued through travel agency or law office. Dreams crushed, two years of planning, trust instilled in the company, no explanations, no response to where the money is. The company apologizes, but has not proposed a resolution.

"You can still save your trip"

We were suppose to travel to Moorea and Bora Bora next month for our 10 year anniversary. Received an email on Oct 2 that they have gone out of business and all our reservations have been canceled. We paid them in full 3 weeks ago and unfortunately may never get the money back. For those that are still wanting to go on their trip, we have located the island company Custom Tahiti travel used to book our hotel, ferry, and inter island flights and luckily they have NOT canceled our trip and were willing to deal with us directly. If you would also like to investigate this, the company is called Tahiti Nui Travel. We spoke to Lorna and her email is lorna.moureu at tahitinuitravel . pf

Received this email from them today- We regret to inform you that, effective October 1, Custom Tahiti Travel has suspended its operations. All currently booked trips are canceled. Custom Tahiti Travel will not be able to honor any of the current bookings.

"Custom Tahiti 3-island Anniversary Trip"

Our experience with Custom Tahiti in planning our French Polynesia vacation were mostly good, with a few minor hiccups along the way. We were always very happy with the quick responses from the staff we interacted with. E-mails and itineraries detailing our plans were sent regularly, but they are clearly cut/pasted from customer to customer, and there was almost always an error or two that would need clarification. It seemed that initially the agency forgot to book our business class airfare, although this was taken care of within a few days of when we voiced our concerns. Most of the other errors were minor: a date or time carried over from another itinerary that clearly didn’t match our trip. We were disappointed when we arrived in Moorea that the individual who greeted us immediately sent us to stand in a line to turn in our resort transfer vouchers. What the line is really for is to wait your turn for a sales pitch for tours. We certainly didn’t appreciate this added inconvenience when we had already booked our tours ahead of time. What we were hoping for in booking our trip through an agency specializing in Tahiti travels was to avoid any unpleasant surprises along the way. I will say that I wished we had been given a better understanding of Bora Bora and how things operate there, as this particular part of our trip was problematic. While it is clear that you have to use boat shuttles to get back and forth to the main island, it never occurred to us that this was a significant issue to plan around. Shuttles are only offered at specific times, and the ride is about 20 minutes each way. So, although we had booked a sunset tour on the day of our arrival in Bora Bora that was scheduled to depart at 4:30, we weren’t able to make the tour because we weren’t even able to check-in at the resort until 3:00. We would have had to take a boat shuttle from the resort 2-1/2 hours ahead of time to make the tour, and after returning from the tour, we would have had to wait nearly 2 hours again for the first available boat shuttle back to the resort. So, a 2-hour tour, for example, quickly becomes a 6+ hour event. Dinner on the main island had similar drawbacks. If the agency had explained this more carefully, or asked us to adjust our dinner/tour reservation times to coordinate better with boat shuttles, we would have enjoyed our time on Bora Bora far more. Again, we trusted an agency specializing in this region with the hope of avoiding these types of problems. At the third resort we visited, Le Taha’a Resort (which was lovely), the resort also did not provide some of the extras that had been ‘included’ with our package (no drink vouchers, no spa voucher, etc.). Minor issues, obviously. All in all, we had a lovely trip. The transfers, resorts and tours were booked as promised, and the beautiful destination was all we’d imagined.

"Honeymoon Perfection"

Every detail, from airport pickups to in room champagne, was absolutely perfect. Transfers between islands have been seamless. The additional tours suggested have been beyond incredible and worth every penny. Our agent was fantastic to work with and always quick to respond despite time zone differences. I would not hesitate to use this company again!
