"The only course you’ll ever need for winter tree ID"

A great course for anyone struggling or wanting to brush up on their winter tree ID. The course is interactive with a complimentary copy of the FSC Winter Tree Identification book and a large reference sample of twigs.

"Who knew sorting a bundle of twigs could be such fun?"

I loved the course. It was fun recieving a bundle of sticks through the post prior to the start of the course and being self-disciplined enough to avoid looking at them as instructed. On the morning of the course, Dominic guided us through identifying over 30 different trees using the FSC AIDGAP photographic Guide to winter tree identification he has written. The pictures were really clear - with lots of clues given about key features to look out for and comparisons of similar looking species to help classify our bundles of twigs. Afterwards there was a follow-up Q &A session which was helpful with others from the course asking v intelligent questions that I hadnt thought about. Winter walks during covid lockdown have been much more interesting as I try to practise what I have learned.

"Around Britain in 25 Grasses - Great Online Course"

I was a little bit cynical about an online botany course from youtube (with a Q&A session on zoom after) but Dominic gave lots of little titbits throughout the video. The pictures were really great, helpful, informative and he gave personality through the video even though it wasn't live. I learnt a lot and would highly recommend the course and will likely do more particularly when we are hampered by going into the field.

A useful course, I particularly liked that it covered a broad range of habitats as most of the training I have done to date has been on neutral grassland. I felt that 25 species was a good number to start with and that the format of the course worked well.

This is a really great beginners course on grass ID, covering the main species you will come across in different habitat types. Dominic is easy to learn from, clear and concise with great knowledge. Picked up a lot of tips and tricks to ID in the field, with what main ID features to look out for.

Well worth the money and the travel. Dom is a fantastic tutor, making what you might expect to be boring botany really interesting! The reading/study materials, including the book are very useful, and the set of twigs have been round my office on a number of occasions. I would recommend this course wholeheartedly.
