The Species Recovery Trust Training Courses

"Habitat Indicator Species"
A very informative talk. Like mentioned in the Zoom session, a few more handouts comparing similar species (eg. comparing the yellow coloured sedges) would be useful, and maybe a bit more of a break between the two videos to rest my brain, but that's just when I had time to watch them.

"Highly enjoyable"
Highly enjoyable! Loved having pre-recorded material to take the material at my own pace. Great use of high-quality pictures showing the specific plant features, very useful! My confidence has grown.

"Aquatic Plants Online Training"
I attended the online aquatic plants training run by the Species Recovery trust on 8th March 2022. The host, Dominic Price, was knowledgeable and the pace and tone of the talk was relaxed and easy to follow. The training was well organised into sections, making it easy to break down into manageable chunks, should a break be required in between. The illustrations showed the key features of the plants well. It was made clear that not all species were covered, but difficult species were pointed out and more care advised when keying these out. The pace of the training was good, and as it was pre-recorded you could pause this if needed (for example during the self test) to refer to notes, though I only occasionally had to do so. I came away feeling more confident in identifying these species.

"Very good refresher."
I had done a fair bit of macrophyte I.D. in the past but this was a very good refresher. I still found this very useful for distinguishing between species and there were some good tips on other I.D. features. Definitely worth doing whatever your level of experience.

"Aquatic plant course review"
Great course, felt a lot happier about the more common aquatic plants.

"The Aquatic plant ID course was great"
The Aquatic plant ID course was great. It was set out in a logoical way and Dom was very entertaining with his descriptions and ID tips. I think these courses are sometimes hard to do with just photos and maybe more varied photos for the tests migth ahve been more challenging but I feel like it has really helped increase my ID and plant knowledge even in a couple of hours. Highly recommend this course!

"One of the best training courses I've attended"
A really great training course and I don't say that lightly. It was well structured, the training session is actually better than fieldwork and it equips you well for doing hedgerow surveys.

"Effectively communicated online course"
Effectively communicated online course. Engaging teaching and interesting content. Will definitely be attending other courses.

"Super course, effective teacher"
Super course. Dom introduced 30 bryophytes to us at a good pace with clear descriptions. It is a well organised talk with really useful recaps and small tests to ensure that we are familarised with the species and their key ID features before moving on to the next species. Really enjoyed the teaching style and pace and keen to learn more in my own time now I have had this excellent introduction.

"Around Britain in 25 Grasses"
Well thought out and very well illustrated online training. I really appreciated that there was some flexibility over timing. And having the tests to go back to will give me chance to work on retaining my new knowledge!
Thank you - really enjoyed the course
