"This rose was in terrible shape …"

This rose was in terrible shape on arrival. I was shocked at how bad it looked. all the roots had much of the outer skin scrapped off them, and the rose stems looked dried up and pale. There were 2 or 3 just started shoots on the stems but they were shriveled and looked about to fall off. The very fine roots were dried up and there was a bit of mold on the ends of the larger roots some of which were torn or broken. I planted it, but doubt it will live and can only hope there is a replacement available when it doesn't grow.
