Found this company through an internet search looking for commercial gas meter connections and supply contract.

The good points:

They were the joint cheapest quote for our gas connection. It was still staggeringly expensive for just a 7 metre connection to the gas mains, but several other firms quoted nearly double, so it would seem that EL offered good value.

The connection did eventually get done and in most respects it seems satisfactory. I was relieved that in the end there were no extra charges for local authority permits, etc

Areas where things could have been better:

Communication could have been better. Several times I found myself having to chase to find out the progress being made or when work would be carried out.

Also, the subcontractors who did the gas pipe and connection seemed not to have been briefed properly, so they arrived without having arranged a mini-digger to dig the trench, which led to delays finding one. Whether this was the fault of the sub-contractor or EL I don't know.

I was keen to have the connection done during the 2 week Christmas/New Year period, in good time so that we could also have a boiler installed before business resumed. I was initially pleased when it was confirmed that the connection would be done on 21 Dec, but it was only on that day that I learned that the meter would be done separately. This took another 3 weeks, so the boiler work was delayed, with the result that our customers had to put up with an unheated building for a day.

The quotation said the meter would be a U6, which was good because my gas engineer said this is what would be preferable. The meter installer brought a G4. When I queried this I was assured that they are exactly the same. Having checked subsequently, I see that although they have the same capacity rating, a G4 potentially suffers from more pressure loss, so will not cope with the same load as a U6. In practice, however, a G4 might be sufficient for the load in my building, so I hope it won't be a problem.
