A Place for Mom

"Do not call if you need help for loved …"
Do not call if you need help for loved one. They connect you to a local person to help you. When they find out you have Medicare they give you the local number to DHHS. Then they hang up. You need money for them to help tou.

"STAY AWAY OF a place for mom SCAM This review is for the elderly and their families looking for placement in a retirement home as well as for the Assisted Living Homes mangers-"
A Place For Mom is not a business model, it's just A BIG SCAM.
All they do is to sell to Assisted Living Homes the info the people looking for placement provide to them for free. They have zero expertise and they NEVER EVER accompany their customers to those homes NOR THEY HAVE ANY CLUE of the service the elderly will be getting as they NEVER VISIT THE FACILITY - THEY DON"T KNOW HOW WE LOOK LIKE.
PEOPLE wake up and do your own research!! It is so simple! Trusting apfm is like trusting the janitor for a open heart surgery!
They claim to have expertise while they never visit the homes therefore they would not know whether it is a good fit for your beloved.
APFM is just a network of websites who trade the information we/you willingly surrender to them. Stop doing that anymore!! Search the internet, search on google maps, make a few phone calls and evaluate the homes with your own senses. It is so simple. If you take the step to visit one Assisted Living Home and meet the people running the place you've already made yourself a HUGE favor, you already have 10x more info and expertise than a place for mom is giving you.
APFM are claiming to be experts while they HAVE NO CLUE. They claim to be offering their services free of charge for their elderly customers and their families looking for a nice Assisted Living Home. That is NOT TRUE!! What you have to know is that every Assisted Living Home is paying APFM 120% of one month's charge and believe me that translates directly in the resident's charge. THEREFORE THEIR POOR QUALITY SERVICE IS NOT FREE and the residents are paying for it. They just don't know they are paying it.
Also: APFM is forcing Assisted Living Homes to sign contracts that are against the law, in the state of Arizona.
The APFM contract, paragraph 5(v) specifically prohibits the Homes from discussing with the residents or their families, the fee that APFM charges the Assisted Living Home.
The LAW, R4-33-408 says that the facility HAS TO disclose and obtain signed statement from the resident indicating that a referral fee has been paid (valid for all residents referred by any referral agent). Therefore they are making you sign a contract with an illegal clause which makes it ILLEGAL!!
Stay away from the apfm SCAM! They are making money selling the elderly info to the Assisted Living Homes while THEIR EXPERTISE DOES NOT EXIST, is ZERO, NADA.
Assisted Living Home managers!! - DO NOT SUBMIT ANY INFO on their website. You could live without apfm. CHECK YOUR CONTRACT FOR ILLEGAL CLAUSE in paragraph 5 (v).
If you ever want to terminate your contract with apfm, THEY WON’T REMOVE YOUR INFO from their website network: aplaceformom, alzheimers, senioradvisor, wellness even if you are the rightful owner of your info. Check your contract and cancel it if in the Terms and Conditions at paragraph 5(v) they prohibit you from discussing the fee with your resident. According to R4-33-408 all Assisted Living Homes in Arizona have to inform the resident/ family about any referral fee paid to a referral agent for a resident.

"DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!"
I am a referral source for A Place For Mom. This service is such a rip off! Families come into my facility and never mention that A Place for Mom sent them. I then receive a bill for thousands of dollars months after the resident has moved in. This morning I received an invoice for a deceased resident. She lived here over a year and never once did I hear from them. They told me they found her obituary in the paper. Please Please do not use this service!!!!! I will no longer be a referral source or accept anyone that has spoken with this company!

"This is just a referral service"
This is just a referral service. If you want over 500 phone calls and at least 1000 emails contact a place for mom. The employees actually work for a company called Working Solutions. They do not work for A Place For Mom. If you ask the Senior Service person details about the facility they are clueless because they have never been in the facility. If you do call the first question should be is this Working Solutions or A Place for Mom?
You would be better off doing your own search.

"A Place for Mom charges small …"
A Place for Mom charges small residential facilities 150% of the first month's rent for their referral fee.
They are very greedy and do not tour the potential clients.

"Don't Use Them"
I needed information for Assisted Living, which A Place for Mom offered with a simple form. When completed you see "A customized list is being created for you." - This list never appeared. What appeared was an endless stream of more emails asking for even more information, so they could provide a list. And then a request for even more information.
I gave up on A place for Mom and called Assisted Living providers myself. Received all the details I needed, without any hassle.
Don't use a place for Mom - They just want your information.

"Terrible"
They took a security deposit from me of $2950 and told me that will return if I cancel contact with them. After I cancelled contact, I was told that the money will be returned one year later

"These money hungry jackals are …"
These money hungry jackals are terrible! Since making one exploratory phone call to try to start learning what might be available for an elderly family member, I have been plagued with unwanted phone calls from various places even though I had specifically told the "Place for Mom" person not to give my number out. This is aggressive marketing at its worst.

"They are the reason for such high elder care cost."
A Place For Mom is why you pay an "admission fee", "assessment fee" "move-in fee" or some other fee when you move into your chosen community. It doesn't matter if you used A Place For Mom or not. Think about it. Your monthly fee at your chosen community is $3,000.00. I bet you paid around $1,500.00 "admission fee", "assessment fee", "move-in fee". That's because they charge the large communities they contract with 50% of the first months fee. They charge the smaller communities up to 150%. The communities aren't in business to loose money and they most certainly aren't going to. Work the numbers. 100 bed community has to pay 50% of first months fee x 100. That's $150,000.00. There's NO WAY the community is going to eat $150,000.00. YOU THE RESIDENT ARE GOING TO PAY A PLACE FOR MOM. Think about it.

"If you Want To Pay More for Care, This is Your Place"
A Place For Mom is simpling a very expensive listing service. They do not visit the places they refer you to and they do not go with you to visit any place. They simply give you the names of places that pay them thousands of dollars if they can find a new resident. They receive a kickback of 6 to 10 thousand dollars from the place they refer you to.
