"Gold Star package - Bronze Star Delivery"

Firstly, this is not a review on Internorm windows but a “mainly” review on the fitting service provided by Scotia Architectural.

We approached Scotia Architectural Systems to provide and fit replacement windows and chose the Internorm product and the “Gold” standard fitting service. You can actually order the windows and organise your own fitter if you wish. The “Gold” standard service was a 4-day fitting with a handover being on day 5. The fitting was expensive but came with various benefits that we felt helped justify the cost i.e. Scotia Architectural are an Internorm Platinum Dealer, a project manger assigned etc. A survey was carried out and the windows were ordered from Internorm’s factory in Austria. A few weeks later we were contacted by Scotia with an install date as the windows were now due to be delivered to them. On day one of the install the installers arrived but with no windows. A van turned up with some of the windows at the end of the day but too late to install. On day two the install started but there was no work on day 3 as the installers were on another job. On day 4 they continued the installation but some of the windows hadn’t turned up as they were missing from the delivery to Scotia – perhaps it would have made more sense to make sure they actually had ALL the windows before kicking off the install process? Just over a week later the fitters turned up to fit the remainder of the windows. There were a few issues with the some of the finishes i.e. tiles put back on with silicone, no covers on window screw holes, nails heads sitting proud of interior window cills etc but these were “mainly” resolved once I advise Scotia.

Once the windows were in the exterior cills were ordered as the standard cill they use was unsuitable and a month later we had an install date for these However, that was cancelled at short notice due to a double booking. A week later they were fitted. However, one cill in particular had a large gap underneath, about 25mm, as opposed to the other windows which have a much tighter gap to the window brickwork surround. There was also insulating foam oozing from the gap which looked very unsightly. Looking at the plans this window was measured at 20mm shorter than the other similarly sized windows – the house is a 20 year old build from one of the big house builders so quite a few windows are going to have the same dimensions. I contacted Scotia to advise that there were some outstanding issues - mainly the big gap underneath the cill and the nail heads protruding from the wooden internal cills. Their reply was they thought all the works had been complete? An additional visit was arranged. The internal cills were sorted and the exterior cill gap was resolved by placing a length of plastic on the outside of the cill and caulking it in place. This fix is on upstairs windows so less noticeable - but had it been on the ground floor I would have rejected it. It would have made more sense to have a different cill to fill more of the gap and that would have matched.

Overall, we’re happy with the Internorm windows but the very poor communication to us and within Scotia, the length of time to fit (external cills excluded) and the varying quality of fit and finish does not come close to the “Gold” standard install we were expecting and paid for. I understand that there may have been staffing issues due to Covid but none of the issues I have could really be put down to this i.e. fit and finish, turning up with no windows. Looking at the other reviews perhaps my experience is the exception rather than the rule but if you’re going to call a service Gold Star Standard you need to provide that.

Update: Thanks for your reply. Can I perhaps expand on a couple of points you made in your reply:

1. Yes, the fitters were good. However, even they admitted that some of the finishing was poor and were a bit perplexed as to why things were left for me to then pick up and go back to yourselves to resolve when it should not have been left like that in the first place.
2. We paid the balance because the email advised that once payment cleared our Warranty would begin and we didn't want to hinder that.
3. I put mainly resolved as I'm unconvinced that the fix carried out to cover the larger gaps between the cill and window ledge on the upper windows will last.

I apologise if I come across as possibly over critical but I just felt that the main points I raised were easily avoidable i.e. you would probably have waited until you had all the windows before starting an install further afield and perhaps a review of the works complete by a more senior installer would have picked up any issues rather than me.

I have already recommended your company to others and I would happily use you again as I feel we may have been an exception this time round. However, I do feel my review was fair for this install.

I cannot praise this company too highly. The quality of their product is first class but even more impressive is their post sale customer service. I opted to take my bifold door on a supply only basis as my builder said he would fit it. When he ran into a difficulty I emailed Mark to ask his advice. Mark arranged for one of his fitters to attend at my home and rectify the problem free of charge. How many companies would do this for free? Absolutely outstanding service and I recommend them without reservation.

We replaced our existing DG with internorm triple glazed windows and doors,
The entire experience with Scotia was excellent, from dealing with Ryan at sales, who has great product knowledge and is patient when we were deciding on designs. Thereafter everything from the measuring up to the fitting went smoothly, the tradesmen were excellent.
Fitting was completed in October , the performance of the windows and doors over the winter has been even better than we hoped, the house is warmer, heating was on less and noise levels from outside are much less, in our experience we can not recommend the product or the company any higher.

We ordered triple glazing from Scotia. The sales team were very well informed about the product and took a great deal of time explaining different systems to us. There was no attempt to "push" the product and no intrusive follow up calls offering us discounts.

The installers were professional, efficient and calm in the face of some technical challenges. The product is excellent in all respects and despite the windows being modern the style fits very well with our victorian house.
I am very happy to recommend this company and their products.

Windows and doors are fantastic products but perhaps the most important part has been the level of customer support that has been provided through the whole process from design through execution and even rectification of a manufacturing issue post install; all resolved swiftly and with attention to customer satisfaction. I would recommend to anyone looking for windows or doors to let Mark and his team show you what they can do. Great job guys!

Replacement windows. The whole process was handled pleasantly and all our questions and queries answered.
The fitters, who were all excellent, turned up on time and finished the initial fitting a day early. A slight problem with one of the doors was resolved, replacement ordered and fitted at a later date.
This is the kind of coy and workers that all others should aspire to. We would certainly recommend.

We chose Internorm by Scotia windows for our new build property and are delighted with our decision. The windows are of an incredibly high standard and the team were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable from start to finish. They were able to accommodate our bespoke sizes and shapes and the huge sliding door glides effortlessly. Expensive but good value for a premium quality product. Would recommend.

The windows are excellent, high quality products with a good range of options to suit all budgets. I would like to record our thanks and appreciation for the excellent service from the Scotia team. In particular Ryan who has been very helpful with support during installation and follow up help with minor snags. The Internorm windows and doors are a superb product. Only regret was not using the Scotia installation crew due to budget constraints during the self build process. If you can afford it well worth paying the extra to have the Scotia crew install them. Their knowledge and attention to detail is second to none and is what the Internorm products deserve. Many thanks team Scotia.
