"I paid for an Advanced driving course…"
I paid for an Advanced driving course three months ago and I am still waiting to start the course. Despite numerous emails, no one at the organisation seems able to give me an idea of when I will be allocated an instructor. The course costs £149 and seems to be heavily oversubscribed because their instructors are volunteers who do this in their spare time and can have long waiting lists. In my opinion, IAM RoadSmart should make this much clearer before they take payment for the course. Overall, a very frustrating experience.

"Purchased an advanced driver course and…"
Purchased an advanced driver course and paid around £150. There is no set date for the course to run from/ to. Unfortunately before I could start the course I was very ill and needed to be in hospital . Am still having treatment and not able to drive. called the company to explain that I would not be able to use this at any time in the foreseeable future and could I get a refund or part refund. They flat refused despite the circumstances. Very harsh in my opinion and would not recommend any one paying the full amount in advance .

"IAM not all they crack themselves up to be."
I've been a member for some time now and, although a '!st Class' pass member, I have had some very poor experiences. The latest of which is;
An exchange of emails I had with the IAM in December last year.
As a member of the IAM I wondered how important members are to the Association? Last year I was severely let down by the IAM which, after much ado, was rectified. Not a good reflection on IAM.
Following that debacle I wrote to them in December looking for help, and particularly support, on an occasion when I felt the IAM should have been able to offer that support.
Since their (almost) automated reply on 18 Dec. I have heard nothing, that’s right, nothing.
So, at the moment, there is nothing I would rather do than express my experiences with IAM on a public forum but I notice ‘RoadSmart’ doesn’t have one. I have therefore chosen TrustPilot to assist in getting the message out.
The IAM talk the talk but seem to do very little to support their members. Think twice before paying for their so-called 'service'.

"Let down"
If you live in the Cardiff area forget about joining. I have been a member for over 4 months and have been unable to start a course as they don't seem to have any qualified observers. I have become disillusioned with the whole scheme, I was very keen to take part but I feel completely let down.
I have now requested a refund.
