"Dissapointed and let down"
This is our fourth Nile Cruise with discover egypt .We always recommended this company. Unfortunately we were very let down this time . There was a lot of different people joining the cruise at various stages which affected the flow of activities and often held us up because of flights . In the past it was just English flights and everyone got on and off on the same day as it was a seven day cruise . The boat moored up so far away from Aswan and Luxor with no possibility of doing anything if you did not do an organised trip as there were no taxis . If you didn't go to Abu simbel you were stuck on the ship . Three optional tours should have been offered nubian village, bird watching and sound and light none of these were offered .
The two shops on board were pushy and over priced . I didn't haggle on the last three cruises and didn't expect to. I was charged £1 for 2 dirty postcards when a meal ashore was costing £6 for the two of us with water and cokes . The entertainment although always basic was abysmal. Usually the galabea night is great fun but it was not encouraged and therfore only a few who had been before took part . Breakfast was good but other meals had very poor choices . The tour guides were good as most egyptian guides are but the first day was ruined as we arrived at 1.30 am time our rooms were sorted it was 3am and we had to be up at 6am for breakfast followed by a very full itinerary of the valley of the kings , hatshepsut mortuary temple and the Colosii of Memnon . My advice find out flight times before you book .
My husband emailed the company twice whilst on board and they didn't have the decency to even acknowledge his email . This was so very different from our previous experiences with the company . The second week in the winter palace pavilions was great but that was down to the hotel and us .
It is very sad because I have always sung the praises of this company but would now recommend people compare other companies as discover egypt.co.uk are not the excellent company they once were .

"Alexander the Great"
Alexander the Great – April 2024
My husband and I have recently returned from an absolutely wonderful holiday organised by your team. We really loved the customised itinerary that enabled us to have a shorter time on the cruise bookended by a stay in Cairo & Luxor and the train ride… and we still got to see all the sites!
In particular we LOVED Alexander the Great & having seen the other larger cruise ships, including the Tulip, we realised that we wouldn’t have enjoyed those so thank you for recommending it.
The quality of all the excursions was also excellent as the archaeologists were extremely knowledgeable, the meets & greets were all smooth, and we liked how it was just in small groups. All round a holiday to remember for a lifetime!
Thank you.

"Nile Cruise - A Trip of a Life Time"
We were a group of 10 friends who decided to go on a Nile Cruise, and I must say, it was a once in a life time trip Everything was just perfect, Organisation, transport, weather, food, and above all the PEOPLE!!
We were met at Luxor airport by our “Discover Egypt” representative, Mohamed. We were taken to our hotel “Sonesta St George” for the night! Rooms were spacious, and clean! Breakfast was great, and we checked out before we were taken to our cruise ship “Steigenberger Minerva” where we were met by our tour guide “Ahmed Al-Muzamel”!
The ship was beautiful with plenty of quality, and friendly staff. Our cabin was spacious and well furnished with a very comfortable twin bed. We were taken to the lounge for complementary drinks, then our tour guide who took us out to discover the wonders of Luxor, valley of the kings, temple of Hatshepsut, and the Karnak Temples - a magnificent place to explore.
What made this an extra special adventure was our Tour guide, Ahmed the Egyptologist, he took great care of us all, often going above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort. Ahmed had inside experience of many of the places we saw being born and bread in Luxor, having studied with one of the professors in this field and been party to some of the excavations too. His knowledge was second to none, he went into a great length at explaining everything at each site, adding so much more to our experiences. He was one of the kindest people we have ever met, with a great sense of humour.
On the other hand, the manager of the cruise, Emad Michael was a wonderful man, how a great manager should be, and his staff was a reflection of his management, especially Mahmoud who looked after us at meal times, the staff at the deck, Islam, and Alaa. Also, ahmed and Ali at reception. When we arrived in Aswan, we were met by Mahmoud Okasha from Discover Egypt, he was friendly, professional, his English was perfect, and with a great sense of humour! He looked after us really well until we said goodbye to him at the airport at the end of our trip.
In conclusion, we absolutely recommend this trip to anyone who is looking to travel back in time, you will be in awe!

"Make sure you check the hotel websites…"
Make sure you check the hotel websites as Discover Egypt failed to notify us on two occasions with two hotels, we had to notify them that extensive renovation works were going on.

"Lazy agent"
Phoned for. Quote last week, a very unprofessional guy answered saying good morning when it was afternoon.
He was more worried about his lunch.
I then asked for a quote for Nile cruise, gave date and number of passengers, without looking, or attempting to look at the system, he just immediately stated It would be £3000 upward,
Talk about lazy and disinterested, unprofessional service.
I then got a quote for £1500 from another Nile specialist.
This clown should be sacked.

"What an awesome experience (again)"
What an awesome experience (again). We have been to Egypt 3 times before having done Cairo, Giza and both Nile and Lake Nasser Cruises, this 4th time was the 1st taking our 16 year old son who wanted to experience what we had.
We used Discover Egypt, very professional they organised two cabins for us as I snore loudly!
Sorting out a Visa is very easy, just google Egypt Visa and check that it’s the official eVisa Egyptian government website. Follow the instructions and fill in the form making sure you copy exactly the details in your passport, any mistake will result in a NO, and cost you your fee. You will get PDF versions of your Visa emailed to you. When you arrive at Cairo airport just join the queue to the right of ‘Egyptians only’ on the right of the longer queues, people who had not organised things!! We were through in 8 minutes having been on Egyptian ‘systems’, it worked a great.
Transfer to the hotel was fun and smooth, again great support from the staff on the ground, despite it being late at night.
The organisation in Egypt from start to finish was exceptional, the Steinenberger Hotel with view of the Pyramids was delightful, food was great. We organised a couple of private tours before we left the uk as our son has ADHD and needed something small.
Transfer to Luxor went smoothly, again very well organised and soon we were on our boat M/S Tulip.
Brilliant staff, friendly and attentive, the boat was clean, comfortable and not too big which was very nice.
All I can say about the tours and guide were exceptional. Ahmad Mozamel was the best guide we have ever had, not only was he an expert Egyptologist, the way he explained the history and took us to important locations within temples to show different aspects of the Pharoan, Roman and Greek influences was exceptional.
During the 7 days he let slip that he worked for Dr Zahi Hawass (the top main in Egypt) and frequently took part in archaeological exploration and digs, and had a Masters in Egyptology, he was a passionate professional.
Food on board was excellent, lots of choice, well prepared and very tasty. There is enough to suit all tastes unless you are impossibly fussy!!
Entertainment was fun and typical of a Nile Cruise with Egyptian night, Belly Dancing, local musicians etc.
Quality and quantity of drink available was great and sensibly priced. There is a coffee machine on Deck 3 towards the front of the boat past the fitness room if you needed a quick fix at any time.
The whole holiday was just brilliant, our son loved it and we will be going back to Egypt again soon.

"A Wonderful Holiday With Reliable & Knowlegable Guides"
We had a wonderful holiday with 3 nights in Cairo, 7 nights cruising the Nile Luxor/Aswan/Luxor on the MS Tulip then 4 nights in Luxor. Discover Egypt ensured all the transfers went smoothly, the tours were good and their guides were degree qualified Egyptologists (Tocka in Cairo and Omar on MS Tulip). Accommodation throughout was perfect. I would recommend Discover Egypt to anyone

"Amazing, Spectacular, Memorable, Cannot wait to return"
We have recently returned from a long awaited trip to Cairo, Luxor and Aswan. We started our trip at the Steinberger Pyramid hotel in Cairo, we had a bit of a wait to be allocated our rooms at check in, but the hotel was very nice, rooms were lovely, and the pool has a view of the Great Pyramid and the new museum.I would strongly recommend hiring a driver from the hotel to take you to the pyramids and museums, this is much cheaper than the organised trips and far more personal. From Cairo we flew down to Luxor where we picked up our Nile cruise boat, the MS Tulip, It was like stepping back in time, we had a Terrace suite with a balcony, perfect in every way, loads of space, lovely bathroom and amazing views from the massive window and lovely balcony.
Most of the trips to the temples were included in the cost of the holiday, and we had All inclusive on the boat, which we would recommend as it could get pricey.
As well as the sites, the highlight of our trip was our tour guide Ahmed, To have someone like Ahmed guiding us through this historical journey was an absolute pleasure, his knowledge is exceptional. he is a kind spiritual gentleman, and we will always remember him. We will definately hire Ahmed when we return to see the treasures we missed this time around.
Thank you Discover Egypt for such a memorable holiday, we will return soon

"Professional and Reliable…"
The Discover Egypt representatives in Luxor were excellent in their help in completing the Passenger locator form. In addition throughout Covid-19 the Discover Egypt team in England have acted with professionalism and integrity in transferring my holiday arrangements on numerous occasions. In these uncertain times reliable tour operators are worth their weight in gold and in my experience Discover Egypt are highly recommended for a visit to this magnificent country.
