"Hassled me for payment a full six…"

Hassled me for payment a full six months after I had left! Rock Choir emailed me asking for outstanding fees of £120 for Autumn term- I'd left in March! They really need to do better on this front; it was only because I had email proof from March that I was able to prove I had informed them of leaving.

They could have posted me a letter, telephoned, or asked the leader of my group whether I attend, but instead they opted to send emails which all go into junk folder; I just stumbled across this one. How long would they let these demands for monthly fees go on before bothering to do any of the above?

Rock Choir is inclusive, with attendees from all backgrounds, including some vulnerable people. They really need to be more careful and mindful that their poor admin and careless demands for money are stressful for anyone to receive, but particularly so for the vulnerable or hard up.

So a word of warning- leaving Rock Choir is simple, you simply to email head office to tell them BUT keep a copy of this email long term, you don't know when they'll start hassling you for money down the line!

Ending on a happy note, the teacher was great and a lovely guy!

"Amazing Experience, thank you.I have just returned from Rock Choir…"

I have just returned from Rock Choir Weybridge. What a fabulous evening, everyone was so welcoming and our host a very smiling lady was so happy and welcoming. Danny the instructor was encouraging, enthusiastic and positive, thank you to both of you.
I am a returning member of Rock Choir, I first joined many years ago when my first husband left me and my young twin daughters, I remarried and sadly my second husband has just died of a brain tumour. My daughters have grown up and flown off to University now, so I am in an empty nest. It took courage to return but I remembered how uplifting it was to sing with lovely folk. Am glad I did, thanks to all at Weybridge Rock Choir. It was such a happy uplifting experience, I shall be back. Wendy.

"Very unwelcoming"

Very unwelcoming - if you sit in someone's usual seat. Not very friendly felt like being back at school. Left to feel invisible , while those chatter around you or turn the back on you so you can't join in.

"I went with an open mind"

I went with an open mind, for just a Taster Session.
The 'Leader' was clearly a superb musician and teacher, however it was not a good atmosphere - I have since read 'interesting Reviews' which definitely coincide with my experience.
A complete Money Making Outfit; sad state ..... a Club for Singleton Women, who I estimate are being taken advantage of, albeit willingly : so-called false 'Jollities' .... cliquey doesn't begin to describe . Feeble banter / jokes ....
My feeling that persons being 'over charged ' (Direct Debit throughout !) . Since read about 'Donations to Charities' not to mention the lack of 'communication ' from Head Office to existing Members ..... none of this surprises me.
Thank you to those who wrote such honest feedback/ Reviews here , interesting and helpful - I am too .... be warned before signing up .
'Prefects' ? so false .
I thought it was singing not 'Happy Clappy Jigging'
A very clever commercial enterprise uploading £££££££££ annually.

[ please don't bother to respond to this - having read the others it will be a pure whitewash so instead of saying Sorry .... think about the poor experiences people have and Why ? ]

"Don’t touch them with a barge pole"

Don’t touch them with a barge pole. I tried to leave due to illness and found that I was harassed for money. I believed that this was a community group that was providing a fun organisation but really felt threatened by their correspondence. The aggressive letters demanding payment and threatening legal action after I gave them notice of leaving made me ill with worry.

"Threatening customer service team "

I have recently left Rockchoir after being a member for 5 years. During my time I did enjoy it and my choir leader was excellent but I wasn't really enjoying the songs anymore, also one prefect took their role a bit too serious, to the stage they were really rude to other Rock Choir members including myself.

I left Rock Choir in May, emailed the office to inform them of this, didn't get any reply back. My Choir leader emailed me to say she's sorry to see me go and she would welcome me back anytime. I assumed everything had been cancelled.

A month went by, got home one day to find a letter from Rock Choir demanding payment, explaining they would be seeking legal action against me.

I called Rock Choir customer services as soon as I got this letter, the guy was totally useless. He explained that I had been emailed numerous times and the letter was issued when they didn't get any response. I said that I hadn't recieved any emails and why didn't someone call me instead of sending this threatening letter. The guy said he couldn't really deal with my query and he would get someone to call me back, a week passed with no response, I called them today and spoke to the same guy again, he didn't even apologise. He transferred me through to the rudest woman ever.... she wasn't interested in listening to anything I said, she said if I didn't pay the amount outstanding she would take me to a small claims court. I advised, I hadn't received any emails from the office and I asked why I hadn't been called, she rudely replied "We have 28,000 members....we're too busy to call everyone". I ended up paying the small amount outstanding due to the threatening manner of the woman but I think it was a bit over the top. I think the customer service needs to improve or they won't have 28,000 members for long.

I would have been tempted to come back to Rock Choir in the future but I won't be now after the experience I've recieved today.

" Best Contemporary Choir"

I've been a member for over 5 years and absolutely love it. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, never worry about walking in on your own for your taster session. Here in Dorchester, Dorset, our fab leader Sadie makes every session fun and uplifting. You can go to more than one rehearsal per week which makes the membership fee a real bargain. Lots of opportunities to perform and many social events too. I've made so many friends, we go to shows, walking, cycling or just meet up for coffee. There is a uniform for performances but if you don't want to buy the branded tee shirt a black one is fine. Singing is so good for you and your mental health, everyone should give it a go!

"VERY DISAPPOINTED "

Rock Choir is great until you need to deal with Head Office. Nobody seems to be able to give you an honest answer, suggest that you are unable to comprehend a situation; and don’t always tell the truth. Very disappointing😒

"So disappointed with Head Office. Complete lack of understanding "

I always give some one the benefit of the doubt. I will always stand up for injustices. The mistake I made is giving the staff at Head Office the benefit of the doubt after the first of many emails explaining an injustice which involved three choirs in the Midlands. They continued to fob me off, fob off some of the Prefects too, and we were treated like children with patronising replies, even to a letter signed by 50 members. Can we all be wrong? They do not listen to members. The caring attitude, sadly, is only for those who don’t rock the boat. Many many of us have rocked the boat so much that we have actually jumped out of it. This is after 8 years of membership. In time I hope I will hold on to the happy memories I have but the mis management of a situation has caused me ( and others) a great deal of stress and anxiety. Happy Mental Health Awareness week, oh really??

"Fine, so long as there aren’t problems or issues. "

Sad to say that after 7 years of membership I have parted company with Rock Choir. Wonderful times have been overwhelmingly marred by recent events. When something goes wrong, Head Office fail to deal with the situation in a timely manner with an honest and open approach. They don’t protect their members emotional well being despite the public persona. However, they say that they do and members are of paramount importance. Our recent experience has been absolutely staggeringly disappointing and angered many. So sad but it has to be said!
