"Nice product but can't even manage to…"

Nice product but can't even manage to follow their own order forms (completed digitally so not an issue of handwriting) and not interested in rectifying the issue satisfactorily. Instead their proposed solution is essentially for me to pretend that their error, and the significant cost that results from it, is not a problem. Disappointing.

"MY NEW UTILITY"

RECENTLY, I RIPPED OUT MY OLD UTILITY AND SET IT UP IN MY GARDEN AND ORIENTATED IT TO MY UTILITY ROOM.AND DID A PLAN.WHEN I FOUND OUT I COULD HAVE SOMETHING BETTER THAN A THICK CHIPBOARD TABLETOP, I JUST KNEW THIS FIRM HAD THE QUALITY IN THE SMETHWICK SHOWROOM I WANTED. THE TWO CUPBOARDS I HAD ,SPECIAL WHITE ARE VERY GOOD QUALITY. WHEN I COMPLAINED THAT I THOUGHT THE PAINT WAS NOT THICK ENOUGH, S.W.K.C. WERE HAPPY TO PICK UP THE DOORS FOR A RESPRAY. I UPCYCLED THE OLD KITCHEN SINK AND HAD SWKC OAK UPSTAND AND PLINTHS CUT TO SIZE AT MY LOCAL TIMBER YARD. DIY IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, I SPENT A LOT OF TIME GETTING MEASUREMENTS FOR THE TABLE TOP CUT OUTS CORRECT. I AM SO PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.
GUYS, THE HORIZONTAL SLAT AT THE TOP OF THE BASE UNIT BENEATH THE SINK NEEDS TO BE JIGGED OUT FOR THE CUSTOMER- LIKE WHAT YOU CAN SEE AT A CAREFULL INSPECTION IN YOUR SMETHWICK SHOW ROOM.YOU NEED TO FINE TUNE THIS BY GETTING YOUR CUSTOMER/FITTER TO KNOW WHAT MODEL/MAKE OF BASIN IS GOING IN. SUGGEST YOU SUPPLY A SPARE HORIZ. SLAT JUST IN CASE THE FITTER HAS A PROBLEM.
I CRINGED WHEN THE WIFE WANTED "FLOATING SHELVES " AS WELL.THE PINS TO HOLD THE SHELVING THAT
YOU SUPPLY HAVE ONLY A 65MM THREAD. GUYS THERE ARE A LOT OF PLASTEREBOARD WALLS OUT THERE WITH A CAVITY (DOT AND DAB METHOD) AND YOU CANT GET "FIXITY" WITH 65MM BUT NOBODY MAKES THEM LONGER. I TOOK YOUR FIXINGS , GOT A GARAGE TO CUT THE THREAD OFF AND SUPPLIED 150MM SCREWS WHICH THEY WELDED ON THE END OF THE PIN. IT WAS THE BUSINESS!!. ADDED 150MM
PLASTIC SLEEVE AND GOT FIXITY!!!. THE FLOATING SHELVES ARE THE BUSINESS !!!!

"We spent about £4000 on two separate…"

We spent about £4000 on two separate orders of cabinets. We are very happy with the product and the oak carcasses are a great improvement on chipboard and suit our period room well. Where they do let themselves down a bit is in organisation. First delivery there were minor items missing. They did replace them very quickly. Second delivery there were two whole cabinets missing. No delivery notes arrived and the guys delivering didn't have any paperwork. I had to chase up and intitially customer services appeared not to believe me, however they did provide the units eventually. It would make a lot more sense if the delivery people had paperwork so that they could note any discrepancies.

"Very high quality and little more than…"

Very high quality and little more than a Wickes chipboard job. I took 2 years to decide on the kitchen manufacturer and chose SWKC after several personal recommendations.

They did lose my sink but then rectified that.

Unlike some other people, their after sales support has been great! really big thanks too Daniel C in Gloucester for regular updates and followups

Glasgow Branch.............Natalie.
excellent customer service!!
This young lady's knowledge of the products, her expertise in the field and all round warm and welcoming demeanour made the experience an enjoyable one.
It took 2 hours to order 2 worktops! this was due to the attention to detail. She showed great patience with us as we went through every minute detail of the order.
i would not hesitate to recommend using this branch and Natalie for your worktops or kitchen

"I have just had a new kitchen from Solid Wood Kitchens in Warrington"

I have just had a new kitchen from the Warrington branch of Solid Wood Kitchens and I am delighted with it. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful and of a really high quality. The joiners that I used were very impressed with the units and were planning on having a look for themselves which says it all! Darren was very helpful in the ordering process and the inevitable small problems that came up- a damaged panel and a missing wine rack- were all sorted within 48 hours. Go in with a plan of what you want and line up a good joiner (it's all wood and you need their skill to fit the end panels etc) and you will be amazed at the quality of kitchen that is available for a very reasonable price. Would definitely go there again.

"Wow, what great quality"

Great quality, sanded doors with earthstone worktops make my grade 2 listed barn conversion look in keeping with the quality of the property. When I first walked into the showroom I was impressed with all the kitchens on display. The service and delivery promise was good and met my needs.

"Great quality and service"

The website is very useful and we did a lot of research on it. Then we went to the showroom in Derbyshire to check the finish and quality were as we hoped. It certainly was and we ordered it in the showroom. The lady who took our order was very friendly and knowledgeable and made suggestions to ensure we had not forgotten anything (it was much easier ordering this way, rather than trying to do it online). We ordered a bespoke colour (Radicchio red) for the doors and oak for other items like the plinths etc. It arrived on the day, all the cabinets assembled and well packaged. The doors had pre-drilled holes, which was very useful as we assembled it ourselves. Everything was great quality and the kitchen looks beautiful now. It was also very good value (and half the price of a quote from Wren, and theirs wasn't even solid wood!). It was also useful that they supplied a small pot of paint for touch-ups.
I would definitely recommend them.

"Where do i start"

Where do i start?
I bought a kitchen in 2013 from the company. Bespoke doors with zebrano worktops. It was well priced and at the time came flat pack which was a bit of a pain but actually it went together quickly in the end. I had one problem with a door which was replaced and customer service good. I was very satisfied so when it came to a new kitchen I thought of them. BIG MISTAKE
I recently got a new kitchen for a house i was doing up. It has been a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. First I ordered expensive zebrano worksurfaces (they pretend to be a different company but the same limited company operates both). there was actually a massive splinter on and island 960 mm x 2000 mm length and the piece of wood that cost me some £700. They refused to replace. My joiner was clear it was a fault in the wood. After i threatened to sue they did replace it but I then I had to pay for the joiner and electrician to come to replace (£250) as Solid Wood refused. Then I had a unit door split in less than a month. Again multiple emails and the unit was replaced - but thats ok if you dont work as you have to take a day off to get the delivery. They seem to have a "quality" department which they refer everything to and that appears to have no staff as you have to send multiple and strongly worded emails to generate response.
Did the nightmare stop there - no one of the other work surfaces had been delivered damaged with one end crushed where it had been handled in the warehouse - they refused to replace and gave me £25 off a £400 work surface. I just had to accept it as i had a joiner booked to fit the kitchen and if i hadn't done it then i wouldn't have had a kitchen for four months - this company refuse to accept the concept that carpenters are often booked months in advance and it is not possible to get the kitchen cabinets delivered and check they haven't messed up by delivering damaged / missing items before booking a fitter to then have to find somewhere to store the cabinets for months until then.
So they had also forgotten to deliver an end panel but after several phone calls and being on hold for ages my stubborn approach paid off and I managed to get one delivered before the joiner finished fitting so he did it as the last job.
Their customer service is really very poor. They don't answer emails for weeks then just ignore difficult emails and trying to get through on the phone is only any good if you want to pay them money ie for sales, customer services you can't get through. Now for the name and shame. Not allowed to give names - cabinet complaints manager is good , work surfaces persons is not - really shouldn't be in customer services as they appear to do anything to avoid liability for faulty products
Now for the next problems. further splits in the very expensive 9 inch stave work surface which they have tried to blame on my qualified joiner fitting. Nonsense - i have now had splits in THREE worksurfaces as the one they sent to me to replace the first one (which I had to pay to be fitted) is now splitting where the manufacturing glue lines are.
The painted endpanels have glue joints visible all down the facing surface at intervals of about 9 inches apart but they have been fitted so its a complete kitchen refit to come off so have had to just fill with woodwax and paint myself.
Door quality is not good any more - I have four full height larder units. The oak doors on all of them have warped so they bow in and now the unit doors don't actually fit together the look is poor where the middle has bowed in and the two ends of the top and bottom bow out. The painting quality on the door frontals is now not good. A lot of grain visible but as i have just got fed up I have repainted the doors myself with the relevant F and B colour. Finally one door on a larder unit has been so poorly made that within about 10 days the middle panel came unglued from the from so there was a gap between the frame and the middle part of the door.
I have spent best part of £10,000 on this kitchen - i could have got a handmade one for the price not to mention avoiding the hours of communication emails and phones and stress to try to sort what has turned out to be an average product which is going to need fixing within a year by the looks of things.
AVOID - this product is not what it used to be. If you do one thing only buy their cabinets alone - they aren't bad. Buy your doors end and fittings elsewhere - better quality and the blum hinges and drawer fittings are cheaper from online suppliers anyway.
Sorry but since i got my first kitchen from these guys price gone up, quality and customer service down. Buy at your peril
