"Great value, great quality and great service."

We spent many months researching our kitchen and looked at many options ranging from high street retailers through to more bespoke options. Solid wood kitchen cabinets (also Deterra) appeared to provide good quality kitchens at a very reasonable price. We liked the way we could customise our kitchen and make it more unique - they offer the doors and frontal accessories in a choice of over 130 Farrow and Ball colours.

The door frontals and cabinets are very good quality. However, my only slight criticism would be the cabinet back panel. They are only 3mm thick and given the rest of cabinet quality, I feel it would be more appropriate to use a thicker, more solid panel. They have been fine so far, but it could be easy to dislodge the panel with a heavy pan.

The iroko worktops are fantastic! They cost a little more than oak, but are well worth it. They have a very high oil content and seem extremely resilient to spills and knocks. They look stunning when they darken to a rich, deep brown.

The sales team were very helpful and very patient. Our kitchen was designed and re-designed many times as our renovation plans evolved. The team did a great job of adapting our order many times as things got tweaked and changed. There were sometimes a few omissions or mistakes on the order confirmation. This was partly due to us continually changing our order. However, it proved very important to check and double check every detail of the order. There are literally thousands of options and it was very easy for slight errors to occur.

The kitchen arrived in a timely fashion and the delivery team were patient when I checked over the many items.

The after sales service was excellent. James was extremely courteous and patient and always sought to resolve issues as efficiently as possible. As with any large and complex orders there were a few mistakes. This can be frustrating, however, James addressed the issues promptly and alleviated any delay to the build. A few items were missing (left in the warehouse by mistake) and they were sent straight to us next day. Also, a few drawer parts were the wrong size and didn't fit together correctly. Once again, James worked hard to resolve the issues promptly.

We've been using the kitchen for four months and love it! It looks fantastic and still looks like it's just been fitted. The timber doors are stable and haven't warped or moved. The paint finish is tough and resilient and very easy to touch up (with a free tin of paint provided).

"Great quality and amazing value"

My kitchen looks wonderful, can't stop admiring it, and it was remarkably easy to order, We have no straight walls and lots of nooks and crannies, but with the option of different widths and depths available it all fits in perfectly. Everything is built to a high specification, with soft close doors and drawers, and accessories are available. Our fitters couldn't believe it when I told them how little it cost, they had guessed around three times as much. The staff at Solid Wood were very helpful, both in the initial viewing at the showroom and with advice on the telephone. I absolutely recommend them.

"The kitchen I wanted - made simple!"

I live in a period cottage and was seeking a sympathetic kitchen that would be in keeping with oak beams and stone flags. The superb quality of the oak cabinets melded into my kitchen as if it had been there for generations whilst at the same time hiding modern features such as soft-close doors and clever cutting-edge space-saving storage design.

"Awful Experience"

1. Our problems started with the first item delivered, a tall oven unit. No “fixings” were supplied so we couldn’t even begin to assemble it. Fixing bits were supplied so we unpacked the unit.
2. The oven cabinet unit had one side warped and damaged apparently by a “planer” used in its manufacture. Warped/damaged side returned and replaced so assembly begins!
3. Then we find that wrong sized shelves had been sent – assembly stops again –sent for correct sized shelves but wrong sizes sent for a second time. We had become so exasperated by this time that the unit had to be returned to be assembled by them, this seemed the only way to ensure the correct items would be fitted.
Alarm bells were now starting to ring and with hindsight I should have cancelled the order and I wish I had done so – READ ON!
4. The tall larder unit door was badly out of alignment. I called to ask for advice on how tto fix it. The “Technical” department (that’s a laugh) gave entirely wrong advice for correction which would have damaged both our kitchen wall and the unit if I’d been stupid enough to follow it. Their advice included releasing the unit from the wall and TILTING the unit (deliberately reattaching it to the wall at a backwards angle). In fact, only a simple adjustment using specific adjustment screw was needed.
5. THREE pre-assembled corner units were a long way out of adjustment and had to be returned to be remanufactured. We kept the fourth one and hung it only to find that it, too, was out of alignment. Our fitter had to hang the door on the opposite side to get it within tolerance (just).
6. Drawer inserts supplied were the wrong colour (grey instead of white).
7. Two cabinet doors were not the same colour “white” as the rest so we are left to re-paint them.
8. Three drawers of a drawer unit were taped closed with carpet tape which stripped paint from the drawers when tape was removed so we will have to re-paint them.
9. Screws supplied with the fixing brackets for hanging wall cabinets had heads too small so that they fitted THROUGH the bracket holes. These screws were THE WRONG SIZE and useless. Using them would have resulted in the cabinets falling off the wall.
10. The Lift Up hinges supplied were not strong enough to lift the cabinet door – I had to buy correct replacements locally to avoid even more delays. Incidentally the price locally was £20+ CHEAPER!!
11. Worktops supplied (iroko and not cheap) were the same wood but different patterns (staves). They were wrapped and we gave them to our carpenter to fit. He cut one piece before we noticed. I complained but the company “management” were quick to quote their terms and conditions and refused to do anything to rectify yet another of their mistakes. In fact they made it quite clear that it was ENTIRELY OUR fault because we trusted them to at least get the worktops right and didn't check thoroughly! I was pretty silly to trust them to get ANYTHING right.
Needless to say I do NOT recommend this company and IF they were linked to any others I would not be recommending them either.

"Veneered items sold as solid oak."

We were sold solid oak items that turned out to be veneered. After dealing with their terrible and rude customer service team I am still waiting for a refund weeks after the items were returned. I am now sourcing real solid oak plinths elsewhere and having to pay a carpenter a second time to fit them.

"Fantastic efficient pleasant service"

I have just ordered 2 more doorknobs to match the ones I have. A tiny order but she went to a great deal of trouble to sort it - delete VAT as I live offshore, check best and cheapest transport options. And really pleasant. I know the products are superb as I bought some kitchen cabinets and a worktop before. There was a tiny bit of bare wood showing at a join and I requested a touch up pot of paint and received a litre! So I have matching painted shelves. I am planning another kitchen soon and will certainly get back to this company.

"Oak block worktops"

We chose Solidwoodkitchencabinets for the oak block worktop, because they had the best feedback comments we had seen for this product.
Having purchased it, we are now in no doubt as to why the reviews are so good.
We specified a day... that was met with no problem. We were emailed a time slot of just two hours, so no waiting in all day. We were told we would have a phone call half an hour before deliver... and all that went exactly to plan.
The two man delivery team were courteous, efficient and helpful. The huge 4 metre long thick worktop was carried with care from the delivery van to the garage and placed where asked.
The worktop was protected in thick film and was pristine. More importantly, the quality was very much higher than we had expected: no knots, no filler, and nicely graded oak staves. Beautifully sanded to a high specification.
We could not have asked for more.

"Quality, price, service - all outstanding"

I can't fault this company for product or price, the solid oak staved cabinets just looks fantastic and should last forever, yet the price is lower than many of the MDF units you get from other kitchen companies. As to service, I think the mark of a good online retailer is not 'do they get everything right every time', that may be setting the bar a bit high, but more 'do they put right little things that go wrong quickly,easily and without fuss. Again on this service score 10/10. I bought several units over some time and it was almost a year between buying the first one and installing it, when I opened one of the boxes I had a piece missing, it happens, but they were quite happy to ship the missing bit even a year after order without any query at all. All round I can't recommend enough,.

"Fantastic service and great quality doors"

We couldn't be more pleased with our new kitchen cabinet doors. To be able to look at a sample at home and see the the quality was invaluable. Any questions that we had were answered really quickly and were very helpful. Once we placed the order, we received the formal confirmation really quickly and I was amazed to get a call the same day to arrange delivery (and that was the following week).

All in all, a first class service and quality product, couldn't be happier with our new look kitchen. Thank you!
