"Egypt reschedule"

My life dream is to visit Egypt. After a long research I have decided to book a group tour with this company for May 20.
Due to COVID my plan had to be postponed to May 21 and now again to Dec 21. Also, the person who was going with me can't go anymore and I also had to change my travel buddy.
I was very anxious and stressed with the changing of plans, but all the team is being AMAZING, replying to all my queries and emails very quickly and they are always there to help and make amendments to my bookings without charging for it.

If you feel unsure about booking with them due to change of circumstances I would definitely go for it without thinking twice :)

Thank you to all the team.

"NO REFUNDS DURING CORONAVIRUS - they kept my money :("

History: Cancelled Tour to East Africa due to Covid-19 :
No refund being offered - been sitting on my cash for over 9 months and now want to provide a credit for travel at a later date but there is no way I can do this travel anymore :(
Booked this holiday back in Jan 2020 for once in a lifetime trip to Africa as a last hoorah before my kids went onto their respective careers - neither child will be able to take 4 weeks holiday in the next few years.
So both Qatar airways $12K and small dive company in Zanzibar $6K have provided full refunds.
‘On the Go Tours' is refusing to even entertain the idea saying I can give the tour to family or friends!!! As if I would recommend them to friends now!
Just a really poor outcome :(

And typically 'On the Go' you fail to give a useful reply -> You cancelled the tour, Qatar airways cancelled their flights, the Dive trip cancelled - both those companies provided full refunds without question.
You quote the ACCC - well here's their last line "the ACCC encourages all businesses to treat consumers fairly in these exceptional circumstance" - not sure how you can justify keeping my money for a possible future trip (which isn't happening any time soon & who's to say you won't go bankrupt in that time - where does that leave my $10K then??)
I will continue to seek recompense - you are not being FAIR!!!

"We had booked a tour with On the Go…Despicable that they are trying to profit from Coronavirus"

We had booked a tour with On the Go Tours for Egypt for March, and then the Coronavirus (COVID-19) hit, and our plans were derailed. This was after it was reported that
(1) dozens of tourists from the U.S. have been infected with Coronavirus after touring in Egypt -- and contracted the virus at the very tourist sites that our On The Go Tours group was supposed to go;
(2) an American tourist was trapped in "Quarantine Hell" in Egypt after Cairo's severely inadequate medical system gave him a False Positive test for Coronavirus,
(3) the Egyptian government has continued to press forward a campaign of Coronavirus "Fake News" in order to lure unwitting travelers to the country, and
(4) rampant racist attacks particularly against people of Asian descent.
As a result, we emailed OTG tours to cancel our trip. They refused ANY kind of accommodation (like letting us change the date of the trip) and even went so far make us feel as if we were somehow to blame.
If they're not going to give us any kind of accommodation for the situation, that's their business decision. But after some research, it seems to me that (1) not only are they an outlier in the tour industry in not accommodating changes due to the Coronavirus, but (2) they are actually trying to profit on the outbreak. I wished that I had booked our tour from Trafalgar Tours, because Trafalgar has issued an update temporarily suspending their operations, allowing travelers to re-book without change fees, and get a "full credit" of all monies paid toward another trip. Also, it is absolutely disgusting that On the Go Tours has published a blog entry: "Coronavirus: why you should stick to your travel plans." According to their blog, you "MUST say no to ruminating at home and yes to rejuvenating and life-changing travel." Are you kidding me?!? This is the most offensive, irresponsible statement for any tour operator to make. When the whole world is shutting down to try to put a clamp on a global PANDEMIC and On The Go Tours is trying to get people to buy more tours, it is just insulting and completely reprehensible.

"Taj traveller.. Don't Do it!"

Went on the Taj traveller, absolutely diabolical, billed as an 8day tour, actually only works out at four at best after days on the coach, rest breaks only after 3-4 hours on the coach, no facilities on the coach at all. Taken TO THE MOST EXPENSIVE places, watched the tour guide argue and be handed his back handers, on one occasion shut in a room for TWO HOURS whilst being given a hard sell for very expensive rugs, everywhere we paid top dollar and the guide was clearly on commission, I would never recommend this company again, and certainly not this tour, nor the money grasping tour guide, many people were very unhappy, and I would be surprised if anyone left a positive review after that experience, really was just a way to Extract money from us, every meal and glass of wine was what you would expect to pay in London. The entrance fees were no where near what the guide took off us for the kitty, and the tips were no where near what we put in the kitty, and we had to tip on top of that too, then he expected £5 a day in tips after having clearly made a big profit on the two kitty's we had all 23 of us handed over! Most of us refused more than to tip the guide more than a days worth, (and I only did that begrudgingly because he has children) heard him sat with another guide at the second to last hotel laughing how he'd got some on the tour to call him cookie so they'd tip more, also whilst being shown yet another Mahal on a sanitised tour the tour guide "cookie" had got to talk us through it even got his facts wrong, but me being a female was immediately told in an awful manner how I was wrong, had I had WiFi I could have proved my point. Also when we voiced our displeasure we were told we had to respect him! Does he not know who pays his wage? He needs to understand that. I have been on a few tours with other companies, never had this amount of issues this is the biggest and most disgusting con, don't do it, you'll just pay more than you would in London per day, £7 for a glass of wine, and hotels in the middle of no where so you can't even escape and see the real India, power cuts, no hot water, WiFi that never worked unless we upgraded, and those are the highlights! The hotel issues and the dirt and cold showers etc, really pale into comparison, however, the coach driver and his young companion were both five star, very polite and very helpful and worked long hours, still with a smile!

"Honestly, too many issues to even list with this company"

On the go tours cancelled our Egypt and Jordan group tour on my partner on I...IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TOUR! This left us stranded in EGYPT, without accommodation, transportation, meals, tips, etc. which were all paid upfront.
If you do not have hundreds of euros to invest on top of your prepaid on the go tour, I would highly recommend you do not book with this company.
My partner and I had to spend extra money on early flights out, extra nights in hotels, transportation and meals, essentially an entire new vacation because on the go canceled our vacation without notification or cause.
In addition, the hotels that we did experience in the first half of our tour were the cheapest establishments one could find, the transportation was an old mini bus that broke down several times, and was painstakingly loud and bumpy at the best of times. The meals that were provided were in the backyards of the friends and family members of the local tour guides, and which much of the group were sick after said meals.
I believe this tour company has no interest in actually providing quality tours, only funnelling money back into their or their families pockets.
We planned this vacation, two weeks out of our busy lives, intending to have an epic, magical time, we received an utter nightmare that has us paying back the extra money we were forced to spend to get us out of that nightmare to this day.

"Ignorant , Unhelpful, Tour Consultants"

I reside in Melbourne, Australia and booked a $7000 Egypt/Jordan tour with them during the Xmas period after doing some research, of which, OnTheGoTours had some pretty good reviews. But I missed the fact that the positive reviews were for the Head Office and not their Australian branch based in Brisbane. I called up twice with regards to questions pertaining to Visa application, spoke to 2 different "so called tour consultant and the Manager", they were extremely "ignorant" about the process and all they said was, they don't look after Visa application and it is not their responsibility but the traveller needs to look after their own Visa application. My feedback to them was, "you need to be educated about some of the FAQs at least, if you deemed yourself to be travel consultants???" but I don't believe they actually took that on board and kept arguing that it is the traveller's responsibility! I am a frequent traveller and I dont think I will ever book any tours with them again after this negative experience. I can't imagine how helpful they will be if I require more assistance during the Tour.

"On the go Turkey Discovered"

In August we took the 2 weeks Turkey Discovered tour and had a great time. The hotels were all 4 star or better. Our Tour guide Esra was excellent. She provided information on the history of the various historical sites and went out of her way to assist us in ordering meals etc at the various lunch stops that were not included. We only had a group of 15 people but had a 46 seater bus this gave us all room to relax while travelling.

"Pathetic unprofessional London office staff - avoid at all cost"

I have travelled on 3 occasions with this company - to China, Iceland and Japan. I cannot fault the Iceland trip at all, but had a few minor issues with China and Japan. I, however, booked a potential 4th trip for the end of May to Turkey. My mistake was booking directly with the London office rather than with Flight Centre. A series of errors ensued at the hands of the booking agent. These ranged from the changing of my gender (despite my being a return customer whose details, including passport copy, are on their system) to booking me into a room share despite my initial email stating that I would pay a single supplement for my own room. The request to have my booking handled by an alternate agent was ignored. I was then overcharged despite being advised that I was entitled to a 5% discount as a returning customer. When I called the office, the person I spoke to advised me to email him the issues encountered with the agent (ie her errors). Upon doing so, I received a reply from a reservations manager who defended the actions of the agent, dedicating an entire paragraph extolling her virtues as the most popular agent worldwide and the fact that she was upset by my complaint! Her errors were described as "genuine" but no attempt was made to address them. I was given no assurances that they would be investigated. It was stated that my complaint was "unjust and out of context". If I am parting with over £1200 NO errors are expected. She ended the email by advising me that my trip was cancelled and I was refunded. I then made a formal complaint to the MD of the company whose response was despicable, echoing the emailed response from the reservations manager. A long winded explanation was given re the changing of my gender on the system, but no explanation was provided as to why the other errors, the most significant of which was being overcharged, were made. He had the audacity to accuse me of being aggressive! I am appalled by these accusations. Clearly he has no concept of the definition of aggression, since my emails and letter were appropriately worded letters of complaint. Surely an unhappy paying customer has the right to complain! The only adjective I used to describe the agent was "incompetent", which was justified. The company takes no ownership for the errors of its employees, defending them at all cost, whilst turning on its loyal customers. The attitude of its MD was shameful and unprofessional. It is far from being a credible business which has customer service at its heart. On The Go are experts at taking money from customers. This is evident from the add-ons for entrance fees and the "tipping kitty" on their tours. When I enquired from OTG about an extra night in Japan at the (basic) hotel we stayed at, I was quoted £238. The hotel's own website advertised rooms for cheaper, and The Westin and Crowne Plaza Hotels were cheaper than £238! I thus made my own arrangements and enjoyed some comfort on my last night. The unpleasantness I experienced from On the Go, however, was a blessing in disguise as I was able to book a similar tour with Trafalgar Cost Saver. I saved over £100 on the total cost, whilst having an extra night (compared to the OTG trip), 4 extra dinners and all entrance fees included. There was no such nonsense as the "tipping kitty". We tipped what we wanted at the end of the trip. The booking process with them was smooth sailing with no problems whatsoever. The trip was amazing offering excellent value for money. I made so many new friends from all over the world with whom I am in touch regularly. I am definitely a convert to Trafalgar Costsaver and would discourage anyone wanting to book with OTG especially through its London office.

"Egypt and Jordan discovery"

I would like to preface that I have been on two previous on the go tours, one in Peru in 2013 and another in 2016 on the Vic falls to cape Town itinerary. I was happy with those trips and they were once in a lifetime. However, this time around, things are different. I went to Egypt and Jordan in september 2018

1. Wasted time : charge a bit more and get rid of those long drives from Hurghada to Cairo and the sleeper train to Aswan. Those flights exist for a very minimal price. On top of that, our second sailing day on a felucca was ruined due to a sandstorm. I understand we couldn't sail forward.

However, this day was wasted by sitting around until 2pm on the felucca with nothing to do, soaking wet from sweat and covered in sand from the storm waiting to hear whether we would sail forward, or turn back to Aswan. We ended up turning back to Aswan where we also, did nothing and went back to the worst hotel. Dinner was supposed to be included that evening on the felucca, and because we weren't on the felucca, we paid ourselves for dinner.

2. Our guide is Egypt was good. However he would give one option for lunch which always cost 200 pounds. Those meals were hardly edible and always the same. You could eat at a hotel getting amazing food for under 100 pounds. It was robbery the amount of times that we had no other option than to eat at the place he suggested and robbery at the price point. Either we paid the money, or sat and watched other people eat. Day 2 in between the pyramids and saqqara, day 7 at the valley of the Queen's, day 10 after the Egyptian museum are just some examples of the days in which his suggestion was the only option. Are the guides encouraged to bring us to places where they will receive a great kickback?

3. The inconsistencies in hotel choices. Holiday Inn Maadi was great. Sleeer train is an obvious cheap, tired, cozy and milk route for travel (which as mentioned above, flights are so cheap why are you not utilizing this to keep up

standards?) Helnan Aswan was completely

unacceptable. The shampoo bottles were half empty, there was room service on the floor outside our room that had mold on it, the AC spat water onto the beds, the sliding glass door was left open after they cleaned it and therefore a film of sand covered the floor. The food was terrible, breakfast inedible. Remove this property from your portfolio. Then we go back up to a nice property like the Sonesta St. geroge. After the Helnan, you never knew what standard you were going to get because it wasn't consistent. Same with Jordan, there are much nicer camps in Wadi Rum and for the level that Old village and Crowne plaza are at, I expected better.

4. A specific instance where I know we were ripped off by on the go is the following. We were charged 400 pounds for the Luxor temple and dinner. After finally realizing how foul the preset meals were, we decided to forgo the dinner and just do the temple. We got 75 pounds back for dinner. The Luxor temple ticket says it is 100 pounds. Where did the remaining 225 pounds go?  All of that could not go towards a transfer.

5. In this destination esspcially, why are you charging your clients for water? 5 pounds for a small bottle in Egypt and 1 JD for two small bottles in Jordan. Hydrating your clients in such a dry, dirty and unsanitary environment should be your priority. The health of your clients should matter. Water is a basis necessity and having western travellers as your main client base, water should be free.

I have lost faith in the integrity of the company. Pay a bit more up front and go with another company.

"Highway To The Himalayas tour in India"

Highway To The Himalayas tour in India. Would caution potential travelers that if there is not a minimum of 6 people on your tour OTG did not provide an english speaking guide for large parts of the tour. There is a lot of travelling on this tour and rest breaks were sometimes 5 hours apart. On one 6 hour journey in Nepal the AirCon did not work going uphill. The Chitwan National Park experience staying in Machan Lodge was basic and activities amateurish at best. I would compare the experience to a childrens Pet Farm with the guide pointing out when we saw a Dove. Watch out for Carpet, Marble, Silk and Thanka workshops for the "hard sell". However most hotels were good and some excellent. And you cannot get away from the fact that India is a fantastic country with a vast amount of sights and things to do. Unfortunately because our group size was only 4 people I believe On The Go Tours did not provide the same level of service they would have done had our group been larger.
