"Repeatedly trying to add £20 to order price after order confirmation screen"

I went to order some Timberland shoes, as I have ordered from these guys in the past without any issue. After the order confirmation screen, I was taken to Apple Pay to complete payment and noticed an extra £20 had been added to my bill. I assumed I must have added something by mistake, or had selected the wrong delivery option in error. I tried again using PayPal - and again noticed them trying to take payment for £118 and not £98, as had been shown on the order confirmation screen. I spoke to customer services, still thinking this could be a glitch or an error. They tried to blame PayPal and said I was welcome to report them to trading standards - Oh don’t you worry, I will. Customer service refused to accept there was any issue with their payment system, despite me sharing various screen grabs showing their system fraudulently inflating the price of my order. I explained to customer services that it is not permissible under UK law to change the price of an order after you had been passed the Order Confirmation screen - it would be a huge understatement to say that she couldn’t have cared less. I ordered from another shoe shop in the end, and used PayPal on their website without them trying to bump up my order value by £20. I would be very very cautious using this company, even if you’ve not had problems buying products from the company in the past. Something has clearly changed, and not in a good way.
