"Avoid! Either scammers or just incompetent"
I used a comparison site to get quotations for my move from UK to Netherlands. I was inundated with calls from various companies. Eventually I agreed to pay £1800 for a 24 cubic meter truck. I paid additional money for an extra man at each end and to be able to stipulate the delivery day. This took the quote to £2600.
I had various calls with A (the member of staff several other reviewers have mentioned as initially politely an helpful) who was always polite and friendly.
Move day arrived. Two men loaded the truck. There were several items which I didn't need but I said 'If they fit'. The guys kept piling the truck up. Off they went.
Four hours later I get an email saying the truck is over the weight limit of 120,000kg and I must pay another £3.5k by the end of the day.
After a sleepless night, I spoke to the 'office'. This was now a man whose first language was not English. Where had friendly A gone, I wonder?? I was told the items could be returned to my address the next day but that costs of £2100 had already been incurred so I'd only be due a £500 refund. At this point, having read other reviews (more to follow in that!), I just wanted the stuff back so agreed to this. Within 30 minutes I was once again contacted by the 'other removal companies' from the comparison site (Wilsons Removals and Express Removals) who were offering me a 'discount' on my move. Clearly, these are either fronts for the same people or they're in cohorts.
The items were returned. My husband questioned why we had been allowed to overfill the truck. It was (apparently) more than double the weight capacity! The driver said there was 'no way to know' the weight when loading. This is why I say they're either scammers or incompetent. Several vans (I've since learnt) have scales in-built. Even if this van did not, surely they (as 'professionals') should have been able to see/advise/even mention that the van *might* be getting too heavy.
Relieved the items were returned, we sought to obtain the £500 refund which was promised. Emails went unanswered. Calls were 'no longer in use'. Magically when I called from a number I had not previously used, the same number was in use! I was repeatedly reassured the money would be returned. Guess what...it hasn't. Guess who was never on the phone...A.
Long story short, we're £2,600 down and have little hope of recouping money the company could only be paid by bank transfer.
Having since dealt with legitimate international removal companies, the difference between them and Simpsons Removals Ltd is like night and day. Please note this company has almost identically copied the name of another (perhaps better?) removals company. It was this company's good reviews we had read when booking.
My advice in summary would be:
** DO NOT use any company which makes repeated attempts to contact you/get you to book - the good companies aren't doing this.
** DO NOT be fooled by 'A's' friendliness.
** DO NOT use any company which does not accept credit cards.
** BEWARE any quotations with a weight limit and volume - the weight limit might be far removed from what can actually fit in the the volume.
As I say, it obvious these guys are cowboys in hindsight but international moves are stressful. You're under time pressure. Most of use haven't done it many times. These people prey on those facts.

I so rarely bother to leave reviews but I have never experienced worse customer service or a worse service provided. Do not book your removals with them. Fletcher booked us in and was wonderful and quick to respond to any questions filling us with confidence up until they get your deposit. Then you won’t hear from them again! We had to chase to confirm our booking which we received, paid the balance and then they NEVER showed up!!! After chasing Simpsons Ltd 1.5 hours after they were meant to arrive they kept responding with ‘they’ll be there soon’ and ‘this is why we give you a two hour window to allow for delays.‘ So my 2pm booking became a 2-4pm booking which resulted in me chasing them again and again till I got through at 4.20 and I was told the removals men and van were on route (phew!) to then be called 20 minutes later saying that the van had been in an ‘accident’ and that they’d have to cancel my booking, but they’ll give me a refund. I begged for an alternative solution given we’d completed on a house and had to be out that day - they simply said sorry no can do and couldn’t care less! In summary booking with them resulted in them cancelling on us on the day of our completion at 4.40pm we discover - absolutely disgusting! I was given no alternative solution, not even to push to another day. Do not waste your time with them I regret using them more than I can put into words. Horrendous experience! We ended up renting a van at 4.50 pm and doing it all ourselves till 11pm at night thanks to these clowns. Total fraud, do not touch!!!! I now have the battle of trying to get all my money back from them. DO NOT USE

UPDATE: Kent Police are asking victims of this fraud to report it on their website so they can investigate. The Guardian also did a story on this orchestrated fraud. Google “Simpsons Removal fraud Guardian.” BEWARE! I lost £1K to this moving company which was formerly operating as We Care Removals and Kent Removals. The owner is also verbally abusive and sent me abusive and threatening messages on social media. After a catalogue of negative reviews from multiple robbed customers, they have rebranded as Simpsons Removal Ltd but still the same people engaged in questionable practices leaving customers thousands of pounds out of pocket! They are also trading as Finest Removals! How many name changes can these fraudsters have in one day! BEWARE!!!!! I have seen another customer below thinking of legal action and will contact him.If more of us reported this as a scam, they will be investigated. "I have used Simpsons Removals last week…"
I have used Simpsons Removals last week to arrange my items to be taken from Bedford to Madrid.
I was very unsure to use them, I spoke to Adam twice and once on a video call.
I was very concerned about the reviews. Adam assured me that Simpsons have new management and are now in a much better position after this and the restructuring.
He did offer a good price, but not the cheapest and he covered all of the boundaries, customs, paperwork etc.
I was very happy as he kept me updated and informed of the move.
All arrived within 8 days, so a bit quicker than estimated, all arrived without any damages.
I was a bit wary of the weight limit, he did give me a few options and all was good on the first price.
Overall I am very happy, and that I have passed his number on to a friend who is going to Holland next month.

"Unprofessional company, don't use"
UPDATE:
Don't use, they are not professional.
We got our belongings after my partner called the police.
One month after we contacted them, someone called out of the blue and asked to recognise our belongings through pictures.
The delivery men arrived the same night and couldn't access our street. It took them 2h to figure out a solution to finally leave our stuff on the side road and it took us 1h to bring everything inside. It was midnight.
Horrible experience overall.

We used Simpsons Removals LTD to move our belongings from London to Barcelona.
No one is answering our emails or phone calls. We have no clue where our belongings are and are starting to panick looking at all the recent bad reviews.

It did however took a long time for delivery, told delivery date no one turned up, no communication from driver. after much pushing got my stuff

"stay clear"
A nightmare company who after damaging goods and lying to us have refused to pay to replace the damaged articles. They dont respond to complaints and also then state as you are chasing them they will block your number. They are not professional , courteous or what they say they are. They moved one load in a luton in the same time my friends moved two loads and two transit loads. Glad I didnt trust them with the whole move or I would still be waiting now. They have never responded to my complaint so I chased and chased and even after going to a solicitor they ignore all emails. Best advice on my personal experience is to avoid at all costs and use a professional company who dont sent a husband and wife team who could not lift heavy items and constantly had cigarette breaks to waste time. SHOCKING EXPERIENCE !!!!!!

Scam - This company has taken our belongings and cash and is stonewalling any contact. It appears we are not the only ones they have done this to. Our bank has chased them for fraud and they are being reported to the police.

We went with Simpsons after our preferred movers were unavailable and they made sure to make a stressful experience 10x more stressful.
Firstly they underestimated the load size and tried to charge me +40% for another van. Then they held my belongings hostage because the final payment didnt clear the banks fraud approvals on the day. There was no communication this was a requirement until halfway through move day.
We paid a very large fee. Simpsons margin was huge yet the office staff deployed dirty tactics to sweat me of additional money wherever they could.
All the subcontractors used were good and this is the one good thing I’ll say about the service, they used good subcontractors and they managed to find one at short notice when they realised the vans didn’t have enough space. But better to go direct with Rangoon Removals or similar for a better service and price.
We also had a smaller issue where the movers didn’t know how to reassemble furniture (we paid for disassembly & reassembly). They said whoever disassembled should reassemble but sadly Simpsons had sent different subcontractors so it was a bit disjointed.

"Dangerous!!! We have just moved to Spain and thought…"
We have just moved to Spain and thought we were using simpsons international. Trust me these are not!! These should come with a bleep bleep health worning nothing was as promest. The price was double what we thought. To small scruffy vans turned up not a lorry. We've have loads of damage and over £600 of goods missing personal items I can never replace. It's took over 3 weeks to get our things. I just get fobbed off by the staff there nothing has been done. My poor husband is so stressful and moving was to get him away from that as he has a critical condition. Please do not use this company make sure it's international and not removals.
So this company has asked trustpilot to take this review down saying it not genuine so this is the email I've sent.
Hi this is definitely a genuine review. Ive spoke to the Ceo of the company simpsons international to which we thought we were dealing with. I have also contacted EU and British trading standards. They have no better than pirates and have stolen from us with no offer of replacing anything. We paid £7000.00 and there wasn't many things not damaged. I will also send the proof of contact with trading standards and John the Ceo of Simpsons International, please call him as these awful people are damaging his business by stealing his company name.
I'm not going away as I don't want anyone else to get screwed over!!!
