"Best solution to compensate lack of natural light"

We have to block 2 windows in our bungalow in order to build an extension at the rear. We researched all the possible solutions to compensate for the lack of light ; Velux windows, glass bricks, sun tunnels ... and discovered that Solarspots not only provided the greatest amount of natural light but were also less expensive and less hassle to fit. Chis gave us fast and comprehensive answers to our questions and the whole process was completed on budget and at the agreed time. We can recommend the product and the service unreservedly.

Really impressed with this product. Haven't had a properly sunny day yet, but even so the amount of light now flooding my windowless bathroom is amazing.
Great service and contact from Chris and Elaine, and a great experience from our installer who was on time, knew exactly what he was doing and was more than happy to talk my curious 8 year old through the product and how it worked. Left everything clean and tidy.

Now looking to get another one fitted on my landing.

Chris from Solarspot offered great advice as to what we needed. I asked about Dampers to fit into the sun tunnel but he said we won`t need them as we are having them in the living room, he could of easily of said yeah they will be great and sold us those aswell but he was honest enough to say we don`t need them.
The actual sun tunnels take a bit of getting used to, it is like someone has left the lights on all day, you soon get used to it aslong as you don`t look up at them as they can be blinding. We purchased the light fitting that goes inside the tunnels and they are great. We purchased two sun tunnels and we are more than happy with them.

Over the moon with our purchase, by far exceeded our expectations. Excellent service from start to finish. Our little dark shower room is now flooded with bright daylight!

"Beware if using the angle tubes"

If you are using the system as a straight through then it is OK. However if you are using the variable angles then you are in trouble. The assembly instructions say'...and manoeuvre the top angle into place...'. What will happen is that the angle top will come apart. Next the bottom of the top half of the angle tube will become distorted as you attempt to fit it to the top tube. This means you will spend a considerable time attempting to reassemble the angle tube. At this stage the bottom half of the bottom angle tube will also come apart.
As you attempt to rectify the angle tubes the two straight sections will telescope together and then refuse to slide apart.
You will be in danger of being left with a top tube through your roof and a ceiling tube sticking up through a floor and nothing in between. You will also have a not so reflective tube surface due to the finger prints left in your attempts to get the whole lot to go together (the protective film having been removed earlier in accordance with the instructions).
In short the theory is fine - the practice very leaves much to be desired. I won't be buying this system again.

I have the solarspots (3) installed ( myself) for approximately 15 years and still impressed by its performance. Believe it or not it still gives more light ( in the evening) then what it is outside. One of the best home inprovements we ever did. And no, I never got a leak or any problem. Definitely worth it's money.

"Fantastic way to bring in more light"

A wonderful way to bring more light into the house. One of the rooms is a small shower room in which we always had to switch on the light, even in the daytime, and now we keep thinking we've forgotten to switch it off. It's a brilliant system. Literally. :-)
