We signed up last minute for this bike tour, not knowing exactly what to expect. From the moment we walked in, the staff was helpful, engaging and fun. After a few blocks of riding on the streets, we felt prepared and comfortable on the bikes. Nico, our guide, went above and beyond to make sure we were having fun, feeling safe, and learning about all the stops and views along the way. We enjoyed the cadence of the ride; not too much riding in between stops. It was obvious how passionate and knowledgable Nico was about the history of Rome and the culture that shaped it. He made our tour better than we could have hoped. If you're looking for a fun way to see the outskirts of Rome, and learn along the way, this is a great way to make that happen!

"My Birthday in Italy"

We visited Rome with friends, to celebrate my Birthday :) We booked the Apian Way and Aqueducts Tour for our group of 6.

When we arrived the staff were helpful and great, getting us set up with helmets and bikes - and then asked us each to go for a short ride up the street outside their shop. It was a very short and busy street with cars traveling in both directions, and so I struggled to get comfortable on the e-bike.

The Manager of the Shop and the Guide came over to me and told me that they would not permit me proceed with the group. I asked for some more time to get used to the e-bike but they were in a hurry to get the group going on their tour. The managers and guide said that it was too dangerous for me to ride the bike, as they would be riding over rocks and in busy streets. Even though I have ridden bicyles before, it was my first time to ride an e-bike...

My husband was not comfortable to leave me waiting at their workshop all morning, and so the Guide told him to stay behind with me. They told us that we would be given a full refund, becuase I was instructed not to proceed with the group. We understood their reasoning, even though I believe I would have been fine on the bike.
They told us to send an email stating that they instructed me not to proceed, so that the company could refund us. Roma Star Bike has since denied that they committed to the refund, even though our group witnessed the conversation.

The rest of our group had a great time visiting the Aqueducts and Appian Way - BUT it is unfortunate that the management of Roma Starbike have chosen not to honour their promise :(
