As a media comm and creative industries student, being entrepreneurial and self-sustaining is one of the key skills we must acquire in order to survive after we graduate. However, there is only so much your university or degree can teach you. Me.reka Digital Entrepreneur is a weekend programme designed to equip people with the skills and knowledge of becoming a freelancer. Online classes and assignments are combined with gig experiences over the course of 4-6 weeks. You'll learn skills like how to choose the right freelancing platform(s) out of thousands, how to write a winning proposal to score jobs against millions of other competing freelancers, drafting your own contract that outlines the terms and conditions of your service etc. DO TAKE NOTE that this programme does NOT teach you the skills to become a content writer, copywriter, digital marketer, video editor etc. This programme solely focuses on teaching you how to become a freelancer, which is as its name suggests. Therefore, you're (somewhat) expected to already have these skills before joining the programme. Despite that, the programme will have industrial experts and partners to guide you through the mock assignments relating to the industry later on (eg. content writing). All in all, the programme as a whole is incredibly relevant to current times, and is very well-designed to complete within 4-6 weeks. The programme is also a very good platform to network with other people, from programme participants to instructors, and team Me.reka themselves. Every step of the programme has been a meaningful and fruitful learning experience. You won't regret signing up for this programme, you'll learn so much more than you did before.
