"Wrong box"
My box arrived on Sunday the day I was due to cook it which was good as other companies had not been able to do this. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong box and I received a standard beef Wellington kit for four, rather than the ultimate which I had ordered This was disappointing but I cooked it anyway because I had n Nothing else. The food we enjoyed although some of the items I had been expecting were missing from the box which meant it wasn’t as special as I had hoped it would be. When I informed them they were very apologetic and sent me a refund of the difference in the price between the two boxes. They also stated that if I order from them again, they will give me a bottle of wine or a discount by way of an apologyo

"Usman at chefs for foodies went above…"
Usman at chefs for foodies went above and beyond to make sure i got my item as quickly as possible and when there was a hiccup with one of their vendors he was always available via whatsapp to chase them up and gave me discount codes as a goodwill gesture. Will recommend and use again.

We were really pleased both with the price and quality of the products we got. We loved being able to make something that looked and tasted great with the excellent produce we got in the recipe pack and with the video guidance.
There was a slight issue just with a QR code on a recipe card but they responded to my email that same afternoon with a friendly reply and the correct link.
Really glad we came across the site!

"Great service but mixed results on the…"
Great service but mixed results on the recipes, arrived on time and well packaged. However i was disappointed with the results of the shami kebab recipe. I followed timings exactly but blitzed in food processor as I didn’t have a mincer attachment. The texture of the kebabs was not enjoyable as the lentils were still hard and the leftovers went in the bin!
Wouldn’t recommend this specific recipe box.
Good news the lemon and ricotta cheesecake was delish, but make sure you do chill it overnight for best texture.

"Tasty, but the customer experience needs refining"
The Wellington tasted great once cooked, and delivery was all as it should be, but the process ahead of and also during the cooking was quite chaotic. When the box originally arrived I was thrown by the fact that the amount of meat was 50g under what the label and the recipe online said it should be. (I only weighed it as it seemed like a very small piece of meat for a Wellington for 2 and I wanted to check it against the quantity of meat in Wellington recipes I have made in the past - including one from a famous chef’s restaurant box.) I was prepared to just go with it after querying with Chefs for Foodies, who said it would be enough for two (and can confirm it was, when combined with the potatoes, although it wouldn’t have been enough for two adults with average appetites if the potatoes weren’t included - and I wouldn’t normally serve potatoes with a Wellington but that’s perhaps just me) and hope for the best when I cooked it all the next day. But then, like the review before mine, when there was no shallot in the box, I was thrown a second time and the experience started to become frustrating rather than pleasurable. I only discovered the lack of shallot when starting to cook the Wellington, and with no option to go out and get something to replace it I just had to carry on making the duxelle without. I flagged this on an email and was advised that the shallot wasn’t actually needed and it would be removed from the recipe, again, thanks for confirming, but I’d always expect recipes to be up to date and checked thoroughly, so there’s no room for confusion for the customer. I work in the publishing industry, including on cookbooks, so I know how important this checking process is. I note that there have been replies to other reviews here that say it’s a watch and cook concept, which is fine but I think that it should be made clearer on the website that there won’t be a printed recipe too. I’ve done multiple cook at home boxes, from big restaurants, the generic restaurant box companies and small independent restaurants, and all of them have had either just a printed recipe or a video plus printed recipe, but none just a video, so I assumed Chefs for Foodies would be the same and offer its customers their own choice of how they want to follow the recipe. I personally prefer to cook from a paper recipe in front of me, rather than a screen (for various reasons, but I also don’t like having tech in the kitchen where it can get splashed, covered in greasy fingerprints etc). I wish Chefs for Foodies the best as an independent business, but I found the experience all too chaotic and I won’t be in a hurry to order again, sadly.
