"AVOID NANTEAGUE FARM / HOUSE"

Booked to stay in nanteague farm house and my parents booked to stay in the nanteague cottage , the place was listed as pet friendly but is definitely not , soon as we arrived it was made clear that the dogs were not allowed to be left unattended and not allowed to go upstairs,Stair gates should be fitted if these are the the rules .The owner even said I hope they don’t bark all the time ,this information should be stated on the website , the kennels at the rear of the house are south facing raised up about 2 foot from the ground and only have a small fence around them with no cover what so ever , my dog could easily of jumped out , the holiday was booked for 1 week and was so bad we only stayed 1 night , wasted over £2000 for just 1 night , would not recommend . AVOID
If my overall experience was 4 out of 5 stars I would not have stayed here for 1 night for over £2000, no where upon booking does it say pets are not to be left unattended plus the Kennels are not safe to leave your pets in .Expected a relaxing cottage and it was the complete opposite, constantly people coming and going to the house attached to property we stayed in

"Poor resolutions to customer complaints"

Having booked twice with the his company in the last 2 years we find their properties to be of a very good standard....BUT on each occasion we have had genuine reason to complain about certain issues when asked for feedback following our holiday. Last year it took them around a month to respond to us with a very matter of fact "sorry we didn't do so well but your feedback has been taken on board" email. This year, having chased them for a response only two days after we left the review such was the level of our dissatisfaction regarding the comfort levels in one of the rooms in the property, we have found their responses to be somewhat patronising and very dismissive of our grievances. This organisation seem to be very professional on the face of things when everything is going to plan.....but far from it when there are issues to address. For these reasons we will not be booking any future holidays with this organisation.

"Henry's Beach House Ilsham Marine Drive - Fantastic"

Our holiday at Henry's Beach House at Meadfoot Beach is a memorable one. We stayed there from 27th July 2019 to August 17th 2019. The location of this house makes it very special - just 5 minutes from the beach and two minutes to an open green area to play cricket, walk your dog, or just picnic. The house is furnished to a high degree with comfortable beds, high chair for infant, and working dryer for towels etc., everything you could possibly need. The owner is very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble - and his delightful confectionary (we had chocolate eclairs and bakewell tart) add to a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

"Booking Experience - Room for Improvement!"

I do hope that my initial booking experience is nothing to go by. Disaster! Now I have read the comments on here I am quite concerned and do hope that our accommodation is as described.

"Heart in the right place.... just some lumps to iron out?"

It seem to start so well...but so far i have to say their customer service and website leave a lot to be desired. We rent cottages several times a year and these guys are the worst by a country mile. Dire communication and hopeless lack of detail - and we have not left yet. Let's hope we don't have any issues once we've arrived.

*had a very positive and respectful response which really did take the sting out of the issues raised. Like most business issues, they relate to people and training (the application of). This was one of them. I was honest and my feedback was heard and, I believe, welcomed.

"Extremely Expensive and Not Very Honest"

Extremely Expensive and Not Very Honest

Last summer we booked a cottage in Seaview, Isle of Wight for few days, the cottage was pretty, but the cooker wasn’t professionally cleaned, and it smelled gas leaking. Also, there wasn’t any warning in the cottage description regarding the location in a steep hill; no good, because we have a disable son with a wheelchair, so it was a real effort going up the hill. The cottage was extraordinarily expensive, considering we stayed for five days and we couldn’t get into the cottage until 3:30 in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we had to take it because we were late making bookings for the summer. When they asked me for feedback after our stay, I commented on all this and until know nearly a year later, never contacted me with any explanation…. In the form there was a question asking if I wanted my comments to be published, I put “yes you can publish everything”. Now if you check my review, they published only that sentence, but absolutely nothing else of my whole comments, which it doesn’t make any sense! Coincidentally, another review from a lady said that she also was never contacted about after her negative review or experience at all. Obviously, they publish only the positive reviews and not the negative ones, which to me seems not very honest.

"Still very disappointed"

I appreciate your reply and it is our fault we didn't read your booking conditions properly, it is not our fault my partner lost his job but I am shocked that companies can take amounts such as our case of £427, and within a couple of weeks you have filled the booking again and gained over £400 at our expense. The law needs changing, I would have understood if we had cancelled with very little time for you to replace with another booking but we gave you over 3 months. Very disappointed.

"I was very surprised..."

I was very surprised at the bad reviews on here. We find Classic Cottages to be wonderful and nothing but honest and helpful. Please see my review on Google which states " I love Classic Cottages and am so thrilled with their service that I have recommended them to all my family and friends. From start to finish, they are amazing. Their website is easy to use and properties are accurately described. They also seem to have a large choice of properties with zip and link beds, so you can choose if a second bedroom has twin beds or a double. It is so hard to find cottages with 2 double beds on any other websites and classic cottages excel in the amount of properties with this option. I have also found that they also excel in accessibility details. They tell you if there are steep slopes from parking areas or possible obstacles for those of us less able bodied, so there really will be no nasty surprises waiting for you. I have also never come across such a friendly company. If you call them, they bend over backwards to help you. It really is good old fashioned warm customer service at it's best. I have booked through many holiday cottage agencies over the years, with impersonal call centres and where I have arrived at my cottage only to find little or no resemblance to the photos, but you will not find that here. With Classic Cottages you really do get what you saw online, and more besides. Having now discovered them, I will never need to look any further again. Thank you Classic Cottages for taking my stress away and making it all so easy." it is a complete contrast to the poor reviews some people have left for them. I will continue to use Classic Cottages for my holidays as they have been nothing but 100% reliable to me. Just remember people are quicker to complain online than to compliment. For every one of these complaints I have no doubt that they are hundreds of really happy customers. They are a small minority, with special circumstances that cannot be foreseen and therefore not always able to be granted. It strikes me that some people (no matter how nice they may be) expect something for nothing,

"Poor cancellation policy. Read the small print!"

Avoid this company like the plague. We had booked a week at The Willows in Westwood Ho from 21st of September.
5 weeks before we were due to go, my widowed mother was moving from the family home to a smaller property and the completion date was 21st September. We had expected her to have moved in July/August. This holiday had been booked since June
I read the terms and conditions and it stated you could move your holiday to another date as long as it was two weeks before the holiday due date. I called them and asked them if we could move it to the 5th of October. We thought this would not be a problem as September would be easier to fill the date for the owner rather than October. They contacted the owner and she refused saying it was too close to our holiday date although as I said before it was five weeks previous.
I sent an email direct to the owner hoping they would be sympathetic to my situation that obviously I didn’t want to go away and leave my mum to cope on her own. The owner totally ignored my email but rang the agency obviously complaining that I had contacted them. I received a phone call from Classic Cottages telling me that we could not change the date. When I queried the decision it was made clear that the owner of the property gets 100% of the money regardless if you go or not, so why should they have compassion for a situation when they get paid without any cleaning to be done.
So we had no choice but to cancel the holiday and lost 60% of the cost. Today I looked at the website and I see that the same week is now no longer available so I guess they must have rebooked it to some other poor unsuspecting soul. Do we get our money back, I very much doubt it.
Also check the details of the surrounding area, as one pub they were advertising within walking distance is actually closed!

"Broken Promises, dirty cottage"

So the so called promise from classic cottages is that they publish reviews whether god or bad. Unfortunately this turns out not to be true, I provided negative feedback concerning our summer holiday, the cottage we had booked for our summer holiday was not clean and the toilet smelled strongly of urine amongst other problems. Of course six weeks later my review is still under moderation, no contact from them about my experience or any other follow up.

We've booked twice in less than 12 months with Classic and paid a premium price both times only to be provided with a far from premium experience. I don't think we'll be booking through them again.
