"disaster birthday celebration"

I booked this holiday stay for me and my fiance for her 30th birthday celebration, however 2 days before we were due to go i had a phone call to say my grandmother had been taken ill into hospital under very serious circumstances so unfortunately i had to abandon the trip to make my way back to Scotland to see her before it was too late. I rang the company to explain the situation, in which they offered no consolation of the situation and informed me i would lose the full amount i had paid for a 4 night stay. I found this to be very cold reception of the circumstances considering I had only booked 3 days prior. The biggest insult came while i was in Scotland and the company rang me to see if i was able to fulfill the booking as i had offered it to friends and family on the hope it would at least be enjoyed by someone else, when i informed them i had not being able to find anyone else, this seemed an opportunity for them to re advertise the dates, making them yet more money. I would not choose to use this company again with their obvious lack of compassion for someones else's misfortune.

"Classic cottages, never again!"

We booked with classic cottages for the first time, and most definitely the last time. We had an issue with cleanliness of the cottage we stayed in, which was definitely not up to basic standard. We found Classic cottages most unhelpful, and not in keeping to the promises they advertise.
