"Avoid. My EPC has been done incorrectly - ridiculous energy bills!"

I have informed stroma a few months ago that I believe EPC for my flat is incorrect, I have been trying to contact directly the accessor, however the phone number given on the EPC doesn't even exist... I have contacted them already 4 times and have started a complaint - never heard back from them. Avoid, try to look for a better company which is trustworthy.

Stroma has flagged my review because they don't believe I had a genuine experience with them - oh, unfortunately - I had.
This is my complaint reference number that I was given on 15.01.2021 - almost 6 weeks ago:

"unsolicited marketing"

This company trawl local authority planning portals and send direct marketing along the lines of

"I understand you have applied for planning permissions [...] be aware of the need to appoint a building control body..."

every time anybody submits a planning application.

The banality is amplified with classic lines like "I have more than 20 years of experience [...] currently assisting 10 other households in your area"

I don't submit my contact details to my local authority planning portal because I want to be contacted by a third party company providing services I don't require. I resent this type of contact and find it unethical, desperate and cheap.

"Honest and truthful - sign of a mature business mindset"

See my original posting below. It is true that the MD made contact with me having investigated the matter internally. There was an oversight within Stroma and the subsequent easygoing resolution informs me this much (which I can now vouch for):

1. Stroma will not spin it's mistakes; and
2. It will not run away from an oversight or try and sweep it under the carpet.

By taking ownership of errors, Stroma displays a mature business mindset of wanting to close gaps in its systems. This is what all clients desire - an honest and truthful advisor.

So thank you Stroma for leading by example.

Is Stroma struggling to keep its business going and maintaining professionalism ?

Since Stroma acquired BBS in 2019, level of professionalism experienced by client has plummeted. It seems there's been high staff turn over and internal restructurings leading to such disorganisation ?
Having notified the Commercial Director, still no one at Stroma cares to phone. Now the Commercial Director has been promoted to MD, will Stoma bravely move forward or regress ?

Readers - If you're wanting to hire approved inspector for building control, keep searching ....it's worth spending the time to find someone reliably responsive throughout project. Don't set yourself up to be blanked.

"Unprofessional"

I have just been speaking to STROMA who are inspecting work on a new extension my neighbours are having built. There have been ongoing issues with water penetrating into my kitchen. My neighbours and I have a very good relationship but I was keen to speak to STROMA to make them aware and for them to sign off works in relation to resolving the problems in our property.
I was informed that any problems I may have are not in the scope of building regulations as they are solely interested in the new extension itself.
This may well be the case but what I find unbelievable is the attitude of the member of staff I spoke to. I initially spoke to their reception who were very helpful but when I eventually spoke to the inspector for next door (I shall not mention her by name) a very fractious conversation ensued finally culminating in her informing me that the conversation had gone on for long enough and she was therefore terminating it.
If the company as a whole and staff within it have the same attitude as the inspector I spoke to I would hesitate to use them.

Terrible service,
I have recently bought a house that Stroma (formerly Green Door)had inspected and they refuse to give me a copy of the building regulations.
A final certificate was given to me when I exchanged and completed contracts but they have put a line through the entire insulation section. When I rang them they said that the regulations have been archived and they had no legal obligation to let me have them. I can only assume that they have not inspected the property or have something to hide. The property is only four years old and so they must archive things very quickly. Very poor service.

I have had to contact STROMA because of my installers lack of paperwork. As of today I have still not had a reply to my original email.
When you use a company and they have a list of all the groups that accredit them on their paperwork you would think it means something, well it doesn't mean a thing apparently and are the installers competent? If they don't issue an electrical certificate then probably not!

It has come to light today that my Solar installation has not been registered and as such I cant sign up for the meagre amount of money on offer for what I put into the grid. Worse I also found out that the reason Stroma refused to answer my emails was because they were selling the solar certification on the Napit albeit two months later. Stroma and likes are supposed to be a trade body that regulates the way trades carry out their work and to a recognised standard but if when you complain they don't bother checking then what use are they? just issuing worthless meaningless pieces of paper.

"Stroma service experience"

Stroma customer services were contacted as their Stroma certified member produced an inaccurate EPC assessment. The stroma member completed an assessment of the property in less than 5 minutes and was more interested in exiting the property without performing a thorough evaluation. This was reported to Stroma, who reviewed the assessment and brought back to the attention of the initial assessor. The assessor was given the opportunity to resubmit again, and upon the updated submission, the information supplied was wrong still. Stroma staff fails to acknowledge domestic responses and completely disregards nor responds. I would strongly urge for those updating their house EPC to avoid members certified by Stroma and Stroma themselves as they are incompetent and do not know how to deliver customer services. Substantial funds were spent on the property and invoices were provided to highlight what was installed and yet the original assessor who was given the second time opportunity to rectify still submitted a second error, most importantly the Stroma member resubmitted as "no thermostat" when clearly can be seen physically seen and reflected on the invoice. I would not recommend Stroma at all as you will find your submission will not reflect the right content causing a wrong representation of your property and ultimately devaluing your property as a result of Stroma failing to acknowledge errors caused by their own members who they certify. They will devalue your property and potentially causing substantial financial devaluation to your property. Companies like Stroma is a disgrace and should be held liable for inaccurate EPCs.
