"Just ordered some Stellar Pans in time…"

Just ordered some Stellar Pans in time for Christmas. Their website states that the pan set I wanted is available for dispatch within 1 day so I placed my order. The money was taken out of my account and only then was I advised the pans won’t be in stock until mid February! I have cancelled my order and expect my refund will take up to a week to process. Glasswells website is still showing these available for 1 day dispatch which is completely misleading. Disappointing!

"Gosh I wish I had read these reviews…"

Gosh I wish I had read these reviews before ordering two Parker Knoll sofas from Glasswells. My experience seems to mirror others on here and quite frankly I wouldn't give them any stars but that wasn't an option. In September I walked round the store and only looked at sofas that said they could deliver in10 to 12 weeks, i.e. before Christmas, and we choose Parker Knoll. They seemed fairly confident we would get them in time but obviously could not completely guarantee it as there is always the possibility of unforeseen circumstances. They took our £800 deposit and said they would email the paperwork. This never arrived, but at this point we weren't unduly concerned. Anyway, here we are less than two weeks til Christmas and no sofas. It seems unforeseen circumstances have meant we won't get out sofas in time for Xmas. When I asked what these unforeseen circumstances were, we were told Covid.!!!! Seriously!!! Covid has been around for months, this cannot be considered unforeseen. In September, we had already been living with this for months and yet they still said they could deliver in 10 to 12 weeks. Now we would like to cancel our order as they still can't give us a definite date when the sofas will arrive and they insist on keeping the £800. This is something we will fight, but other buyers beware.

"5 months to deliver a sofa (pending!)"

My in laws ordered a sofa in August and were told it would arrive in November which they were happy about as it meant plenty of time before Christmas. In November Glasswells contacted them to say it would be delayed by a month and was now arriving half way in December but couldn't guarantee it would now be delivered for Christmas. They had to call Glasswells and chase up the delivery to be told it wouldn't arrive until February. Honestly, I can't believe the poor service! If they had purchased from DFS they guarantee Christmas delivery at the beginning of November but Glasswells cannot do it from an order in August, it's shocking.

"Skip Glasswells and get a professional to lay your flooring instead."

Our carpet fitter, if you could call them that, managed to crack one of our tiles when putting in a carpet. Of course he kept that to himself until after he had gone, and I noticed it after returning from work.
When we confronted the company about it, he refused to admit to the damage despite it being clear as day that it had been caused during the laying of the carpet.

Glasswells told us that rather than fix the problem, because he won't admit fault, they'll refund us £50. They know full well that we can't replace the tiled floor they've ruined for £50.

Skip Glasswells and get a professional to lay your flooring instead.

"The most shocking of floors!!!!"

The laying off my Amtico flooring in my brand new kitchen was so awful I had to take the company to court and thankfully won. The staff in my local branch were brilliant - but once you step up to the next level of management your custom is irrelevant. The whole experience has been hideous and I have had to live with a shockingly bad floor for over a year while Glasswells tried to wiggle their way out of it

Update - I have now had the same product relaid by another company and it looks fantastic. They pointed out all the errors Glasswells made - heating the amtico, not bringing it into the house - basic stuff. Wish I had never used Glasswells

"Defective Leather Sofa"

We purchased a leather recliner and within 8 months what appeared to be a layer of either coating or treatment began to peel off the lumber supports.

No pets, children or cleaning products have been on the sofa.

After about 10 months the peeling started to appear on the armrests and it began to get so bad that we contacted Glasswells with supporting photos. The sofa is under warrranty. Glasswells in turn sent around an independent company to inspect the sofa.

We gave an honest account of why we believed the sofa was defective. The company went away and the report supplied stated that it was ‘one of the oddest leather problems they had seen’. This was the experts opinion and we being the non-expert consumer couldn’t have agreed more with that conclusion.

The report stated that the sofa had been contaminated but once again we re-iterated that all we had done is sit on the sofa without using cleaning products or have any pets or children in the property.

We took particular umbrage with the report for Glasswells when it stated that ‘the customers are not giving anything away’.

I’m sure any consumer accused by a company of withholding information or not telling the truth would have to assume that they are not to be trusted which is how the company representing Glasswells chose to portray us. In all not a very constructive report.

We are currently waiting to see what action Glasswells will take in order to resolve the issue with the defective sofa.

In the meantime the sofa is deteriorating before our very eyes. The color is not stable as the top leather/coating that is peeling off the sofa is revealing a lighter colour.

As a side note we have a 35 year old Thomas Lloyd Chesterfield Leather sofa that has had the same treatment and shows no defects whatsoever. One may conclude that they don’t make them like they used to.
