"What a journey!"

I came to Turkey to have a breast reduction and a tummy tuck.
I’ve always had large breast & I’ve always been self-conscious about it.

I explored some options.
I ending up picking CareInTurkey, because their answers were detailed & the quotation was clear.
At first, my request was for the breast reduction/lift, I finally went for breast reduction & tummy tuck.
First because my medical consultant told me it was a usual combo & also because it was clearly needed.

On my first day, I went to the hospital for a full checkup, it was well organized.
My companion & translator, Miriam, was waiting to greet me & guide me through all my checkup appointments.
I had a blood test, breast X-ray, anesthetist consultation nearly back to back.
Then I had my consultation with the surgeon.
I met a very approachable doctor, easy to speak with, he examined me, we agreed about my breast reduction, then we spoke about my tummy; it appears I needed more work… The doctor said I should do more liposuction & the sides. I thought it was gonna be more money, but I knew it was a true fact & since I was here, I thought let’s make the best of it.

The thing is even though I had a very good impression, the doctor I got examined by wasn't the one I was told will perform my operation.
Indeed, on my quotation it was written my surgeon will be Prf. Dr. E. GUNEREN, I even double-checked that point with my medical consultant & she confirmed.
Not having the surgeon I was told I would, was a stressing trigger for me.

After having had the doctor consultation, I went through the admin stuff.
The coordinator was very nice & professional, he took time to go through all admin details with me.
I paid what was agreed on my quotation, signed all the paperwork, then we spoke the extra procedure.
I was not ready for this kind of extra charge.
He asked me 2000€.
I explained how surprised I was, as I thought the “tummy tuck” was including liposuction, may be not on the sides but at least in the front.
I showed how it was described on my quotation “Remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen”, thus he finally asked for an extra of 1800€.

This extra charge was troubling, not only because this is a lot of money but also because it made me question this way of doing business… Meaning, what if it was a sales technic, to “lure” you with a price & ask for more once you are there…
Honestly it was also a stress factor for me.

Next day was supposed to be “surgery day”!
Got a text form the log team, reminding me not to eat and drink after 10 AM.
The driver picked me up at the hotel around 1PM.
When I arrived at the hospital my room was not ready, I ended up waiting in a corridor till about 3PM.
Finally, I was brought to my room. The room was beautiful and well equipped.
Then I was told I would get surgery around 6PM.
So here I am waiting, time passing on it is nearly 5PM… my anxiety level is seriously building up at this point…

So, I texted the log team asking if someone could come see me to give me info.
The coordinator came over rapidly. I told him I was seriously questioning the timing… was wondering if I would get operated on that same day. Explained I thought it was already late.
He told me it was usual, & ensured me I would be operated on that same day.

Time goes on… it is now around 8:30PM, the coordinator came back to give me updates (keep in mind I haven't eaten &/or drunken since 10AM), the surgeon was still operating, it was taking longer than expecting (which is understandable).
And in order to “save time” he proposed his assistant to come over to do the “drawing” on me...
Needless to say it was a massive trigger for me to lose it…
Obviously, I did not want an assistant to draw the lines on my body that would guide the surgeon to work on me… it was not only a massive NO but also a huge stress factor, in my mind it was a sign of being treated like a line-production work item.
And all that for finally being told around 10PM that the surgeon will operate on me the next day…

Next morning, the doctor came with his team, draw the lines on my body, then everything was pretty quick, next thing I know I am down to the OR.

Next days were ok, however, as expected, painful.
The surgeon came visit every day while I was at the hospital, giving me feedbacks on how went the surgery and checking on my wounds.
My nurse, Ibrahim, was looking after me, Ibrahim is kind, detailed oriented, professional, patient and gentle… He helped me walking around, made sure I was as comfortable as possible.
Having him around was a great comfort.
Same as having Miriam as companion appearing like an angle to check on me.

On my last day, I had the final exam with my surgeon, Prof. A. H. Sakarya, it went well, he took time to answer all my questions.
I realized how my body has changed, saw how the result is good!

I under-estimated how emotional this intense journey will be. Thank you for this changing life millstone :-)

From the moment I researched Care in Turkey and read the reviews and got in touch with them, they were extremely helpful, they made me feel very comfortable with my choice and very informative with communication through what's app which was extremely helpful to me during a busy working period,
They worked with me with the dates I wanted and helped me choose the Doctor I needed through pictures and description,
The transfers and communication between the airport, hotel and hospital was very efficient and on time, the hotel room was very comfortable also which helps a lot.
Dr.Ahmet hamadi sakaraya was very professional with his pre assessment in person and talked me through the multiple processes available and chose the best one for me in his opinion,
The after-care at the hospital was amazing and all the staff are on point which can be a difficult experience in a foreign country but they take care of you well.
I have also been reassured with after care review to fully assess the situation during this next 6 month period which can be a worry for patients mentally.

"Alway check your package the day before you fly "

Care in turkey could not fault the hospital or care ,surgeon Ahmet Hamdi Sakarya was very informative he explained the procedure however no nurse came to my hotel for after care,I never got the hotel I was promised in my package I complained and was moved the next day to a much nicer hotel but still not the one promised in my package,no outside pool and a very small outside space with only 3 sunbeds for a whole hotel 500 rooms ,also was very much out of the way no shops close by, so not a lot for my companion to do whilst I was recovering early days,in the hospital I'm waiting for after care to contact me so I contacted them as was concerned about my healing ,I'm not impressed and wasn't really assured no one asked how I was recovering as I never had face lift before so don't know if I'm healing correctly (only what I googled),I would recommend the surgeon and hospital however not the coordinator I had three the last one got quite a few things wrong
