The Car Spot still refusing to issue a refund but at least they finally released my car 21 days later under threat of legal action (still no SatNav or newly serviced record rendering their much vented RAC warranty not worth the paper it's written on due to RAC's T&C but at least they are not keeping both the money and the car). Sharing this because noone deserve to go through the emotional distress and financial loss incured as a result of this mess.

What a mess. This is customer service from hell. After deceiving me into buying a car ridden with several issues (see previous post), they refused to return and refund, which I am entitled to under the Consumer Rights Act. Instead, they advised me to bring the car for their in-house repairs, which I did on 3rd Feb. However, they failed to complete all the repairs as they said they needed to order a part. So, I took the car back home (I live 125 miles from The Car Spot). After several back-and-forth emails/calls, they advised me that they have the part and that if I bring back the car, all issues would be resolved.

I took the car back in, and after waiting for 3 hours, they told me they couldn't fix the car and needed more time (just a few days). They asked me to leave the car with them and gave me a "courtesy car" with what seemed to be uncleaned vomit on the passenger front seat, a missing red light in the back, and a part popping out right in front of the driver's seat, restricting leg movement, which is really dangerous to drive.

I was supposed to pick up the car in 2 to 3 days and definitely no later than 1 week. However, 8 days later, I turned up to pick up the car, regardless of whether the issues remained or not, and The Car Spot is refusing to give me my car back and has no plan to issue a refund either! They keep saying they will call me once they finish the repair, with no timeline given. I just want my car back. I don't care about repairs right now.

@TheCarSpot, can you please give me my car back as you have no legal right to keep it, given that I don't owe you anything? I paid the full amount to buy the car, with no outstanding debt. It's not okay to keep both the car and the money and leave me at the mercy of when you decide you have finished making repairs, which should not have been needed in the first place if the car had been in the condition it was advertised as.

This is a nightmare company.

More Like The Car Blotch: I'm giving 1 star because 0 isn't an option. My experience with The Car Spot was an absolute nightmare. Bought a Jaguar XE on 28th January, and it's been downhill ever since. And the company won't accept return&refund despite 14 days return policy. It's all empty promise.

Misleading Ads & Broken Promises:

Advertised "just been serviced" turned out to be a joke. Last service was over 4 years ago, exceeded the recommended interval by nearly 40,000 miles!
Warning engine light came on the next day and has been on since then? They never mentioned any issue with engine during the sale. Guess they like surprises (nasty ones).
SatNav? Inoperable due to missing card. "they supposedly ordered one but never arrived," Not cool.
Wobbly passenger seat door? Reported it, but it's still broken. Much for "FULL INSPECTION CERTIFICATE PROVIDED."
Promised "FRESH 12 MONTHS MOT"?Got a week instead and when I return the car for MOT test, it revealed faulty absorbers, so driving the car is like riding a pogo stick. Safety first, right? Apparently not for them. Honestly, this whole experience feels like a giant breach of the Consumer Rights Act. Misrepresentation, misleading ads, faults not disclosed... the list goes on. And they are refusing me to return the car for full refund!

Avoid the Hassle, Go Elsewhere.

P.S. If you're reading this, The Car Spot, I'm still waiting for a solution. The ball is in your court. Fix this mess.

"So many problems AND NOW EVEN MORE"

Had the car delivered. Arrived late, dark, and snowing. Next day took it for a drive. 2 very bald front tyres (was mot'd in December!). Clutch squeaking, rear suspension knocking, no fluid in wipers and hardly any for coolant (topped up before delivery!) Rang 3 times with the promise of a call back, which hasn't happened. Rac warranty said the garage were responsible. Now the engine light has come on, Maf sensor!
UPDATE: MORE BAD NEWS. No air con and engine light back on. Took top of bumper off to fit a sensor only to discover the car has obviously had a bad bump as the condenser unit is very bent.
