"Customer service is not what is expected."

Unfortuantely I have to give bad review, I first tried to call all their numbers, no one answered so emailed on 4th August 2024, stating what the job was; I wasn't sure if they could help. I got an email back the next day saying that they can help and asked me for my contact details so he could come round the next day and have a look and quote for the job, I replied with those details and added that I am available on Friday's as I work all week.

I didn't get any reply, I do remember calling again probably the next day, he didn't recall the conversation at all but would look for my email, I didn't hear a thing. So I called this afternoon, repeated everything he couldn't recall our conversation again, but asked me to send another email and he would answer within 30 mins or 1 hour, so I just simply replied to the existing email chain.

I sent a message on Whatsapp just now 10:20 hoping he would pick it up in the morning as I don't have enough time to keep making calls like this. I was surprised to see that he responded straight away. He was very unhelpful and rude stating what the time was, I repeated that I had spoken to him earlier today, and gave the exact dates I emailed hoping he would look for them now that he was online (he didnt), I further said if you have no intention of doing the work I would appreciate that he would just say so rather than drag me along for the ride and i'll take my business elsewhere, he said leave me alone please. I said that this is not professional and that I will take my business elsewhere and leave a bad review and immediately blocked his number.

I was truly shocked, yes I do have phone recordings, emails and the whatsapp screenshot, of which I did a Video recording on my computer and also on my phone, so what has happened cannot be disputed!! I am not happy to have given him my home address which was given in good faith, in all honesty I wish I never bothered contacting this company!!

I am again pretty shocked by his response to my review, I am entitled to leave reviews and is nothing to do with his business he has let himself and his business down by carrying on like this makes no difference what time I choose to Whatsapp as every other method failed to his attention, is he going to say people cannot email him for fear he'll read and respond to it in a bad mood, it's his choice to open up his business account out of hours!!

This further illustrates and underlines his behaviour and conduct is not professional and people should steer clear given that someone else also put a bad review with much the same experience only last month.

He responded to my email this morning 29/08/24 at 07:38 am stating that "Thank you for providing your address details I will be in touch" I responded No thank you. Not even an apology from him, he also tried to call me I had already blocked his number last night so it forced him to voicemail where it simply said hello.

There is nothing else I need to say!

"We have now used Barrdale French…"

We have now used Barrdale French Polishers on two occasions in the last 6 months and we cannot fault them. Their work was on both occasions of a very high standard. They at all times kept us informed of when they would initially visit to assess the items of furniture. On both occasions they took the furniture on the same day. Told us when the work would be completed and delivered back on time. The gentleman who we dealt with was courteous at all times. My husbands oak leaf table has been beautifully renovated and we are delighted with the end product. would definitely use them again.and recommend to friends.

Restored a neglected 1940's table that had been in a garage for years - back to a new. I was completely amazed -
Excellent service from the moment I contacted them. Callum came out to advise, right through to return .
I'd give 10 if I could not 5 stars. I was so pleased I made sure Barrdale had before and after pictures to show just what they can do. Very skilled team. What was a neglected table is restored to a beautiful light oak .

" An absolute pleasure to deal with this family firm"

This family firm was an absolute pleasure to deal with. They renovated a dozen pieces of furniture following a major flood from a burst water main. They came out to review and put together a plan involving a series of pick ups, renovations and returns all to suit us. They kept in touch throughout the process and consistently did exactly what they promised at the time they said they would. The finished items look even better than when we first bought them.
I have no hesitation in recommending them…and will certainly use them again as and when we have the need.

"Avoid this company …"

Other people’s experience of this company are totally at odds with mine, I arranged our first appointment with them to view our furniture, they didn’t turn up when I contacted them they apologised and arranged a second appointment … when they again didn’t arrive I phoned them and was told that they were running a bit late and to hold on for 10 mins and they would phone me back ….. that was two weeks ago and I’m still waiting for the call
Totally unprofessional, avoid if you don’t want to be disappointed

Just returned from holiday hence the delay in responding.
The appointments were booked in my wife’s name not mine and in the first instance when they did not turn up I was told that the appointment had mistakenly been made not for the Friday as I thought but for a Saturday ….. but they don’t work on Saturdays !!!
The second appointment was scheduled for the 31 May and as indicated in my original review I’m still waiting for their phone call to explain why they didn’t turn up …. so my original review stands.

Further to your latest comments I have e mailed you the detailed information you requested relating to the missed appointments.
Based on my experience with your company, either your appointments system is flawed or mistakes have been made by individuals in your business, and everyone makes mistakes, but when you do then take ownership of them and learn from it, don’t pretend it never happened.
I also note that you asked Trustpilot to remove my review (which they have refused to do), maybe this is the way that you have dealt with negative comments from other disgruntled customers ?

Full marks to Dale and Callum at Barrdale. What experts in their field! Our 10 foot dining table was destined for the tip moments before Barrdale worked their magic. It is now like new, scratches and sun damage repaired to perfection. Dale purchased a set of Rosewood Chairs online for us and also restored and reupholstered the set to its original glory. We are very pleased.
