"Dancing through learning Chinese…"

I have been learning Chinese with GoEast for a year and a half. What I like most is the personalised learning they offer; working through the HSK syllabus with lessons covering pronunciation and tones practise, vocabulary, grammar, reading of characters and dialogue, but also making it applicable to your situation. My teacher, Jessica, got to know that I am also a dancer and helped me focus on dancing vocabulary so that I can attend dance classes in Chinese here in Shanghai. Lastly, I value the friendship I have gained with her along my Chinese learning journey. I still have a long way to go but I am enjoying this road with GoEast!

i am enrolled in HSK 1 and i am very happy with my experience so far. Go East is very good place to learn chinesse online and offline set up. The teacher is very patient with my learning pace and always knows how to outstretch you every single lesson. As i do not have always time for reviewing the LMS online is always there for catch up or learn in advance if time is not an issue for you. Highly recommend to everyone at any level.

"Studying Mandarin at GoEast is FUN"

I love studying Mandarin at GoEast! Studying Mandarin at GoEast is FUN!! GoEast’s small class sizes, engaging lessons, and highly responsive teachers have really accelerated my language learning. What do I mean by “highly responsive teachers”? Well, for example, several of my classmates and I were beginning our summer travels a few lessons before the end of our in-person course last spring, so our teacher postponed the final two lessons until the fall course, which we’ll use for review to get ready for the next level. Another example: whenever a student has to miss class, our teacher brings a webcam into the classroom and sets up a zoom call so you don’t have to miss out due to travel or illness. And the most important example of responsive teaching: our teacher is very skilled at deftly answering students’ questions (some *ahem* MANY of which may be lesson-adjacent or even unrelated to the lesson *sorry*) while still managing to complete the lesson of the day. But what do I really love about GoEast? Why do I endure an hour on the metro going to and coming from class twice a week? Because GoEast is a welcoming community. The classes are fun! There is a lot of laughter at GoEast - you hear it as soon as you walk in the door; the teachers are chatting and laughing with one another while getting ready for lessons. You hear laughter coming from the classrooms while you’re waiting for your lesson to begin. And you hear A LOT of laughter during your lesson as you and your classmates practice the lesson’s vocabulary and grammar in your class conversations. Studying Mandarin at GoEast is FUN (did I already say that??)!! Even the videos on the GoEast online learning platform are fun - the dialogue for Wang Xiao Mai and Liu Ai Li in the GoEast video lessons is always amusing and sometimes hilarious. I’m a teacher myself, so I know that when students are having fun studying, they are learning effectively. I highly recommend GoEast for your Mandarin studies!

"GoEast: Excellent People, Excellent Programs"

Having completed the HSK4.1 course and participated in the inaugural Shanghai immersion and Xi'an trips (I also did the village trip between them), I can say that GoEast staff and programs are excellent all around. The teachers (and staff) are very friendly, attentive and motivating. They do an excellent job meeting students where they are at, and they take a personal interest in each student as all coursework is either 1-on-1 or in small groups.

While travelling with GoEast staff in China, I was consistently impressed by everyone's commitment to making sure students had an amazing experience. GoEast teachers were always happy to answer questions, and GoEast went above and beyond to help us through pain points when traveling in China (issues with laundry, WeChat Pay, etc.). Even the guides (not GoEast staff directly) were exceptionally good about using a combination of Chinese and English to help students get the most out of the tours, despite the range of skill among the students.

At face value, their offerings may not seem to be the cheapest way to learn Chinese, but given (a) the quality of the content and experiences provided for the money, (b) the relationships you can build with the teachers and other students and staff, and (c) the external motivation and accountability provided by the structured environment/coursework, I think everything GoEast does can fit well into most students' Chinese learning journey. If learning Chinese is something you're serious and passionate about, I strongly recommend checking out GoEast as a partner in your adventures!

Side note: I noticed that the programming and pricing for the Shanghai immersion and Xi'an trips have changed slightly, but I'd be surprised if they were not still excellent values.

"China Quest is the BOMB"

I just got back from "China Quest", a one-week intensive course from GoEast in Shanghai, China.

Let me put it this way: if you have the time and can afford it, just sign up.

Every aspect of the trip was on "easy mode": arranging a visa, booking the hotel, airport pickup, and guided tours.

On top of that, the Mandarin instruction was top-notch, the teachers were caring and thoughtful, and the food makes my dining habits back home seem boring.

I came back from this trip with a ton of experience speaking Chinese, and I'm incredibly excited to continue learning. Highly recommended!

"GoEast is top notch"

GoEast is top notch. I've tried tons of other programs, apps, community college classes, and their teachers and hands down the best. Like any online program (especially language learning) it requires you put in enough time on your own with self study but the teachers are very knowledgable, the materials are easy to understand, and very professional. I'd highly recommend to anyone.
