"UPDATE- Vest very nice (now that it finally arrived!)"

I would like to amend my earlier review, in which I was frustrated by the lack of updates on the lengthy delivery time. Since then, I have received the vest, and it's beautiful. -- well worth the wait. I'm only giving the experience four stars because I think communication to customers could be improved, but again, the product itself is really lovely and everything I wanted. Thank you!

I ordered a blazer but several days later was contacted by the company it is out of stock and will be indefinitely. I was disappointed because I really needed the blazer. I requested a refund but would have preferred the item.

"At first I was very apprehensive…"

At first I was very apprehensive because nobody was answering the telephone. Andrew returned my call and told me everyone was at a trade show in Las Vegas. After that, Andrew always answered the phone when I called, was very helpful, and he made me feel like I really was an important customer.

"Customer Service Concerns (Updated)"

I ordered a single uniform vest in size medium from Averill's Sharper Uniforms, due to the fact that they were a more local business. The product was excellent quality, but it was too big. I contacted Averill's by phone to inquire about sizing. I also asked if -- instead of returning the first item (which someone else could use) -- it might be possible to purchase a second vest in size small, with free shipping, since I'd just placed/received an order. The agent's reply was flatly and simply: "NO, we can't do that". I thanked them anyway and advised that the item would be returned, to which the agent, at least (and to their credit), informed that a restocking fee would likely not be charged, since the return is a single item and restocking fees apply to multiple returns. (Such appears to be the policy of other uniform companies, as well.) After two weeks, when no acknowledgement of my return or an account credit had been forthcoming, I inquired by email. The reply included an apology, explaining that they "had been away at a conference" and that the bookkeeper would be "finalizing returns for the last two weeks" on that same day. The following day, a credit confirmation was received -- notably, with a restocking fee deducted from the credit amount. As conveyed to Averill's accounting department, it seemed neither surprising nor worth challenging, all things considered. However, the perceived indifference to customer service/support, and/or lack of attention to detail on the part of this business, does seem worth noting. Whether this experience is the result of inadequate customer service, inflexible company policy, "corporate independence" or just a one-off bad day at Averill's/Sharper Uniforms", it is difficult to assess, as this was my first purchase from them. But thankfully, I was able to locate/purchase the same great product elsewhere, with free shipping. So it does pay to shop around, even if your first choice is to do business locally. (PLEASE SEE THE UPDATE BELOW.)

UPDATE: Since my original posting, new information has been received about this business, which seems to warrant an update to this rating/review. I have been advised by the business that the restocking fee has been refunded, which I appreciate and hereby acknowledge. An explanation for any oversights was also extended. Additionally, it should be noted -- in fairness, objectivity and balance in this review -- that this business seems to have a very good track record, including an A+ rating at the BBB and many positive reviews. I've also learned that the business founder/owner publicly expresses his own personal commitment to excellence in customer service, which seems in sharp contrast to my own recent experience. Therefore, notwithstanding my original assessment and any remaining/unresolved issues in this matter, I have again reached out to the company, to thank them for the additional update/refund, to share related thoughts and to request the owner's contact information. It's my hope that a good-faith conversation with the owner will provide a mutual path forward, for understanding/goodwill in amicably and satisfactorily resolving this matter. If and when that occurs, and depending on the outcome, I will return to this review to provide further update to the rating/review.
