I would give ZERO stars if possible. We are 8 year customers. We were contacted and told someone needed to come out to "upgrade" our attic antenna. We agreed and allowed a contractor-employee of Ackerman into our home. They spent almost two hours literally tearing our working system apart, erasing all of the system codes, and then struggling to put the system panel back together again. They came without a ladder or company-marked vehicle, and left assuring us that everything was taken care of and working properly. Within 2 minutes of their departure, however, the system ARMED ITSELF and then went into panic mode. We could not turn it off as no codes worked anymore. Moreover, we were also receiving communication error messages on the panel, indicating that the new attic antenna wasn't working either. Icing on the cake really. We have had to unplug the system and remove its battery to silence it. Obviously, I have called Ackerman. They promised that a supervisor would call me back. 9 hours later ... no call. What a great company.
An update. I had to call Ackerman back again (in other words, they did not call me as they promised to do) but ... they appear to be genuinely concerned and are sending an actual technician out to my house later this month. I will give them one chance to make this right, so I'll update this review again whenever it's appropriate.
A final update. Ackerman sent a very competent technician out to my house. Together, he and I fixed my home security system. Accordingly, we remain Ackerman customers. So, although I am still upset about the unnecessary waste of time we had to endure, I am ultimately satisfied with the resolution of this matter. I have updated my level of satisfaction from one to four stars.
