"Professional and thorough"
I've used Nelsons many times over the years and I've always found them to be very professional and thorough

"Run Away from this firm!"
Run Away from this firm!! As a beneficiary of a trust Nelson’s are involved with I have no confidence in them acting in the interests of any of us or our disabled relation, but rather to enrich themselves to the tune of £30,000 just for the probate. I would advise nobody use Helen there for their will, your descendants will pay for it dearly. To intentionally quote partner level costs of £400+ an hour for probate to the trust for a mentally disabled person, then ring my mother up to intimidate and upset her when this was questioned was something I never thought a firm like Nelsons would do, but here we are. .

"Laughable Unfair Billing"
We instructed Nelsons to help with a trademark dispute in February 2024. Everything seemed fine to begin with.
As the case went on the other side weren't really responding so we instructed Nelsons to only update us if they heard anything.
What followed was an email from our solicitor chasing us on how we wish to proceed (we had already specified) and then when asking for a price based on what had been mentioned we received "advice"
For this chain of 3 emails we were charged £310.00.
Just to add insult to injury we found out once we pushed this through their internal complaints and actually got a breakdown of the chargeable hours we were being charged for an email with an invoice and what the invoice was for at a cost of £47.00!
Oh and a chaser email that was made up of two sentences (one of which to let me know they were on annual leave) was also a fee of £47.00, during the complaints process this was seen as acceptable. If it takes 7 minutes to write a two sentence chaser email something has gone tragically wrong.
You will get billed for EVERYTHING, almost like its either to inflate figures or to claw back billable time.
Oh and as we were using a junior solicitor their work had to be checked by someone more senior, we were made aware of this but didn't realise it meant a charge on every email reviewed, to the point of a 6 minute review of an email cost us £36.50. as you can imagine for anything substantial the costs rose significantly, which means we would have been better off going with someone more senior to begin with.
As a business you train your staff and unfortunately have to take that on the chin, billing for both time is a bit harsh, especially when its a benefit internally.
As you can imagine the complaints process internally seemed very one sided and essentially ended in recommending we go to the legal Ombudsman.
I raised further comments based on the responses but heard nothing back, i'd imagine its hard to justify charging us for the privilege of knowing what we are paying for to be able to pay a bill. And i assume they didn't want to try writing the two sentence email and timing themselves as i suggested.
I would strongly advise avoid Nelsons and will not be using them again.

"If I could give minus stars I would"
If I could give minus stars I would! Shocking firm. Don’t communicate with you. Hard to get hold of. Never completed what I asked them to do and still charged me a ridiculous amount of money with nothing completed! Then had the audacity to report me for a CCJ because i questioned them about the price they charged without completing anything. Then I had to pay the bill plus interest! Do not use Nelson’s Solicitor’s.
I’m now with Stowe Law firm and these are a million times better and a lot quicker!

He always go out of his way to work on each of our purchases super efficiently and thoroughly. Always a pleasure to work with him and definitely recommend this firm to everyone. Can’t think of any other firm for any future purchases ❤️

"DO NOT USE THEM."
DO NOT USE THEM.
I engaged Nelsons in May 2022. An original estimate was so outrageously wrong. Considering that they are experts in wills and estates, I am left perplexed that they practice in such areas. They are opaque in their charging and when challenged to provide detailed information concerning work. Fobbing you off with confusing responses. I am in contact with the Legal Ombudsman concerning this. I would like to hear from those who have experienced similar problems. If you know and could please recommend "no win no fee solicitors" that would be interested in helping me would be greatly appreciated.

"Truly INCREDIBLE team ;-)"
I couldn't speak more highly of Melanie Bridgen and her paralegal associate Melanie Theakstone. They have both been extremely professional at all times, and have exceeded my expectations in every aspect of my case, from start to finish. I have worked with solicitors prior to instructing them, but they are definitely the best by far, they are in fact second to none in their field. They have been kind, compassionate and helpful consistently, they got instant results. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of instructing a legal team to fight their corner. You will be amazed by their level of expertise, and the results they get, all while keeping the fees to a minimum at the same time. Thanks SO much to you both Melanie and Melanie I am hand on heart truly grateful! I am SO glad to have been recommended you by the truly amazing Dr Proudman! Thanks without end ;-)

"Avoid this company at all costs"
Avoid this company at all costs.
I bought and sold my house in Dec 2023.
Nelsons being a legal company do not have proper processes. They send bills and request payments via text. With no branding, no confirmation it's not a scam or any security.
They charged me £300 twice. Wrongly.
The estate agent I was buying from, contacted them for information about me. To which nelsons replied they didn't have me on their books (after I had paid and signed lots of paperwork) and that they didn't know me. This slowed down the process hugely, meaning I had to take time from work contacting everyone to find answers.
I was constantly chasing them and constantly receiving incorrect information about important financial decisions. The person who dealt with me was always out or away from her desk when the estate agent told me to chase her down for information as they couldn't contact her.
At the end of the process they were quoting me 2k more than what I had worked out I had to pay. I challenged them on this and instantly their figure changed.
If you use this company be sure to be on top of your financial estimations and be prepared to fight them at every turn.

"Very Poor First Experience"
Filled in a online form detailing my legal problem, was almost immediately called by a receptionist who went through all my details and I thought this would be passed on to a Solicitor who would call me to discuss the problem to see how they could help. Not so! The receptionist said she would pass the details to a Solicitor who would call me to discuss it at between £140 and £300 per hour. It is perfectly normal for Client and Solicitor to discuss the basic problem and see how they can help before starting to pay for their services. Sounds like a basic problem using this Company moving forward - they obviously are money centred above all else...including you! Avoid I would say!
