"So far so good"

So far, so good. The videos are interesting and I like the ability to
"loop" sections of conversation, to see subtitles in the native language, to click on words in the subtitles for a definition and to slow down the audio speed. The major shortcoming is the inability to download the videos to replay later. My internet connection at home is very limited and I would like to be able to download them from my office (with good, high speed internet) and view them at home (offline). The Help Desk at Yabla tells me this feature is available on an i-phone app, but this app is unavailable for Android.

Having just signed up to Yabla, after months of enjoying your free offerings, I am a little disappointed that it's hard to find new stuff -- or the enjoyable little soap opera dramas I was given access to. But I do get a lot from it and will continue to hunt for the good stuff.

I suggest you experiment with a "dictation" feature as a learning tool. I listen without the written language then pause and write what I think I heard...then go back and re-listen with the written language showing,,,there has to be an easier way!! Frank Kelly USA

"Needs more grammar specific content"

Yabla is a great introduction to spoken Spanish and would be ideal for the beginner to intermediate student. However, when you get to an advanced level I believe you need to add more grammar specific content in conversation (yes, it would be somewhat scripted). For example, conversations that utilize imperfect subjunctive, perfect subjunctive and past perfective subjunctive. Advanced learners could then hear solid examples of how these are used in everyday conversation. These are specific problems that most English speakers encounter when trying to advance their knowledge and use of Spanish. All of the Spanish language schools I have attended focus on these areas for the advanced learners, however, they simply give the rules but no examples of how they fit into everyday life. That makes it difficult to see how it would ever be used in everyday life. This is a niche area that really needs to be addressed more by all Spanish language programs--from Rosetta Stone to private schools (Common European Framework Levels C1 and C2.

my Mandarin learning.

Excellent and much appreciated platform for learning languages. What I would appreciate is an android app with all the functions of the browser version and ability to switch languagas without buying a new subscription.

"Good for a few weeks"

I first joined Yabla in 2012 (I think), and eventually cancelled my subscription because there weren't enough interesting videos. This month I re-joined and everything looks almost exactly the same as when I left, and I don't see many new videos either. It's like going back in time to six years ago!

I have used a number of sites over the years to improve my Italian. The range and quality of the Yabla videos, games and tools is excellent.
