"Gemma was an absolute joy to deal with…"

Gemma was an absolute joy to deal with and nothing was too much trouble as we were wanting to add onto another leg of our trip. Unfortunately with COVID-19 we have had to cancel our trip, but would have no hesitation in booking with Amazitravel again....wishing every well - until next year!

"I couldn’t recommend Amanzi travel enough!"

I couldn’t recommend Amanzi travel enough. I went on the Eco Quest, safari guide experience. It was incredible I loved every second. If you love wildlife and want to learn more then I highly recommend this course.
Amanzi travel were amazing in assisting me to be ready for my trip. Gemma was incredible helpful and patient. The online set up is great to prepare you for your trip.

"An incredible and challenging experience!"

I recently completed the 55 day Field Guide Course with Amanzi Travel in Botswana and South Africa. This was my second time booking with Amanzi and the service was excellent. Everything was well organised ahead of time and Gemma was really helpful throughout. The experience itself was incredible despite having spent a lot of time out in the bush in East and Southern Africa over the years. Though not for the light-hearted - I can't believe how much I learnt in such a short space of time. The first few weeks were overwhelming as an understatement. I'd recommend doing some studying ahead of time for those thinking about doing this course. What probably would have made the experience even better was perhaps not being mixed in with 15 other year-long students (many of whom were 18-20yo and challenging at times). Despite this, I'm planning to head back again next year for Trails!

"Nankuse is a sanctuary"

Nankuse is a sanctuary, a magnificent aid to the animals of Namibia, and also to many of the people, and a truly magical experience for the many volunteers who come to work for whatever period they wish, is also the most amazing and exhilarating adventure I could ever have imagined. Thank you to the staff, the animals, and the beautiful country. I do so hope they have a great rainy season.

"A life changing experience - South Africa 2019"

Being very passionate about photography, having the chance to improve my photography skills and being surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife were only some of the many reasons why I decided to participate in this wildlife photography and conservation project. Taking photos for wildlife conservation is something I always dreamed of and I feel very privileged that Amanzi Travel and African Impact gave me the golden opportunity to do so.

Throughout my stay in South Africa I was lucky enough to experience what it means to be a professional wildlife conservation photographer. I had the opportunity to participate in a photography workshop week, be out on game drive nearly every single day to practice our photography skills, work together with researchers to help them get identification shots of certain species and learn all about the wildlife that we were surrounded by and how human-wildlife conflict threatens its existence. Moreover, we got the chance to go on night drives, slept in the middle of the bush and did astrophotography, learned a lot about photo editing in Lightroom, had the chance to some fundraising with our pictures and were given the opportunity to write an article for a local newspaper.

Thanks to the amazing photographers Sophie and Sam I was able to improve my photography skills by miles. They thought us photography volunteers so many important skills in order to establish ourselves as photographers. It is admirable how much energy they put in conservation photography. They really made me fall in love with wildlife photography.

Therefore I would like to thank African Impact, Amanzi Travel, all the guides, photographers, members of the staff and all the wonderful people I met during my stay in South Africa for making this experience so special. I think it is incredible to see how hard all these people work in order to protect the amazing nature and wildlife of South Africa.

I truly had an amazing and life changing experience in South Africa and I feel very privileged that I had the opportunity to be part of such a great project.

"Wow, amazing!!"

Gemma at Amanzi could not have been more helpful and supportive, from planning the trip to offers of help during the trip itself.
This has been an amazing adventure for my 18yr old daughter who did 3 weeks with big cats in South Africa. The opportunities she's had, both as part of the project as well as the additional experiences offered were just amazing.
I would highly recommend Amanzi and hope to use them again sometime. Thank you Gemma for all your work. As a parent sending out my daughter for the first time, I've felt totally reassured.

"Thank you Amanzi Travel!"

I spent three weeks in South Africa with the Living with Big Cats project which was made possible with Amanzi travel. They were so helpful when it came to answering my questions (no matter how silly they may have seemed) and were extremely kind and helpful to me. I was quite nervous about going but after booking and discussing my trip with them I felt a lot more confident and had the best experience. I would definitely book a trip with Amanzi travel again in future and am so thankful to them or making this trip possible!!

"Magical"

It was such a magical time at White Shark Projects, it's hard to know where to start! The number one reason you go is for the sharks, so rest assured you will have plenty of chances to see them! There weren't many around when I went, but it made seeing them all the more rewarding when we did. But the sharks are only half the experience! It's the helping out the crew and clients as a volunteer, be it on the boat or before and after trips, which will really make your time worth it. All the crew are grateful for any help you can do, never impatient or patronizing - do what you can and you will feel involved and appreciated. Not a lot makes me want to get out of bed at 5 am, but going out to sea always did! On land, the company are great at making sure that there are excursions or lectures on most no-sea days. Marine biologist Tom is as passionate and knowledgeable about sharks as you can get, so talks by him are always a treat! The volunteer house is lovely, and when sharing it with a fantastic group of other volunteers it can feel like home. Be warned that the friendships you inevitably build with your other volunteers will make leaving all the more heartbreaking! Kleinbaai is a magical place to be based from. There's obviously the buzz of the harbour, but it's also easy to walk 5 minutes and find a peaceful spot to watch amazing sunset skies across the ocean. I valued walks along the coastline with fellow volunteers as much as the boat trips, it's just a magical spot! Likewise, there's the phenomenal White Shark House restaurant a 30 second walk from the volunteer house - here you can get cheap (by UK standards) but absolutely exquisite food and drinks - be it breakfast, lunch or dinner! It became our little social hub. Everything came together for my two weeks, and having already been prior for 3 weeks, I feel very confident to say that you will not be disappointed coming here, volunteering with White Shark Projects has given me countless memories and experiences to cherish - I can't wait to go back!

"From the very beginning"

From the very beginning, dealing with Gemma and the Amanzi staff was nothing short of spectacular. Before I had even booked anything Gemma was essential in helping me make my decision of where to go and put together the perfect package, including everything that I wanted to do during my time in Africa. All of my questions and concerns were handled by Gemma promptly and in a personal way that felt like my trip was as important to Gemma as it was to me. As this was my first big trip like this , my main worries were dealing with all the things that were new to me, visas, connecting flights, layovers etc. Gemma had to deal with questions from me nearly every week from the time I had booked but she always got back to me quickly and put all my concerns at ease. She even arranged to change one of my flights just to ease my concern about missing a flight. Spending an extended period of time in another continent can be daunting but working with Gemma took all the stress out of it. Knowing that any issue I had could be dealth with by just sending an email to Amanzi meant that I could actually look forward to the trip rather than stressing about it. Even something that could be taken for granted like the pre-departure package made a huge difference , without it I woudnt have known where to start with packing etc. I really couldn't recommend Amanzi Travel highly enough. Start you incredible adventure by using the brilliant expertise of an incledible team and I know I'll defnitely be booking with them again I genuinely can't thank you enough for all the help Gemma. Thank you so much Slainte

"Gemma was brilliant to deal with from…"

Gemma was brilliant to deal with from start to finish. She gave me thorough information about the overland tour I was going to do and answered all of my questions. I have a wonderful time on my overland from Victoria Falls to Cape Town, I would book with her again in a heart beat. Thank you Gemma
