"Unclaimed Colonial Mutual assets is not a scam"

I had been approached by Rightful Claims several times by letter in the last couple of years. I had always been suspicious and sceptical about proceeding with this as I believed my Colonial Assets had been resolved several years ago through Winterthur. I did a few checks and came across posts that were suggesting all is okay and ones suggesting it was a scam.
Eventually a letter arrived from R.C. that had a list of references/sources about the process and I checked a few of these out. Trustpilot posts were particularly useful. It was then that I decided to proceed, but with obvious caution.
I received a request for various documentation (photo ID, proof of a past address and proof of current address. This took a while to process and I received a call from Australia to help guide me through it which was useful. I was then asked to send electronic copies of the docs prior to sending the actual countersigned paperwork so that it could be checked before being submitted. All seemed fine.
I had a confirmation that the paperwork had been lodged and a breakdown of how the finances would be resolved.
The one thing I didn't want to do was file my bank details off for electronic payment. You do not have to. I asked that a cheque be sent to my current address and though I had to pay for the privilege of this I still think it was worthwhile. The cheque arrived about 3 weeks later and I banked it the other day.
It was a source of money I didn't know I had and it was a very straightforward process to see it turned round so effectively by R.C. and W.C.

We at first thought this was a scam, but no, and they persevered with us and we received a nice cheque from them just before Christmas. Great!!

I am a retired Police Officer.
I served for 32 years predominantly as a crime investigator, I am by nature.......sceptical.
