"Tour guide was exceptional!!!"

Tour guide was exceptional, all hotels were clean, flight problem was resolved with super efficiency, itinerary was wonderful! The only reason it was not 4 stars is because our group experienced a luggage loss and it is still not resolved. I purchased the insurance for my son, and it was for nothing since I was referred back to the airlines. As of now, 1 day back, 2 of my students do not have their luggage. There is no clear resolution as to what to do. “Did you talk to the airlines? We use their luggage tracking website?”

Tour Guide, George, was brilliant. He had arranged everything, was organized and interacted perfectly. The bus driver was TOP-CLASS.

"Hurry Up and Wait"

I'm not sure how to write about my experience....I went on this trip to relax with students and parents in Puerto Rico. We started out having direct flights, or at least with only one layover. As the trip got closer, we not only had 2 stops on the way down, but we had an overnight stay in Miami. Our group was not together at a hotel. The hotels were 30 minutes apart for 2 days, and then, they got moved to a hotel an hour away. They had to be picked up for activities very early. We drove up to two hours for some activities to "hurry up and wait". We came to relax, but we didn't get to do much of that. The activities were neat but knowing about weight limits and the amount of walking as well as the schedule changes in advance would have been preferred. Food the first night was awful, but improved. However we did not need the mall food. People with disabilities and varying activity levels were not considered. And did I mention we had EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS all week and we were not able to slow down. When people got heat related sicknesses, that should have been a clue. Our large group of 40+ was on time for EVERY appointment.

My group and I had the best time! Our guide Paqui was truly the best guide I have had on any explorica trip (this was my 5th trip with the company).
She went above and beyond to make the trip enjoyable, run smoothly, and keep us on track to see everything on the itinerary.

"Tour director was knowledgeable"

Tour director was knowledgeable, friendly and punctual. It was very organized and the hotels were overall new .

"Great sites but 3 major problems"

The historical sites connected to World War II in Germany were of great interest, though there was very little time to spend at them. For example, about 1 hour was slotted for the visit to the Dresden Military Museum, far less than necessary. Likewise, the visit to the "Topography of Terror" in Berlin was very brief, 20 minutes at most. Most disappointing of all was that we only had 2 hours at Dachau but later that day had 5 hours of free time. We should have been given an option of spending that free time at Dachau or returning to Munich with the bus. Second, Felician was friendly but not very informative. He was not fully engaged in the tour, and while pleasant to talk to, never gave us any information on the bus about sites we were traveling to, nor did he facilitate discussion on the bus after we visited sites. More than once he slept on the bus for extended periods, which I do not think is appropriate; it also suggests a lack of interest in the tour. Third, I was dismayed that we stayed at a hotel a full hour outside Munich--at the end of a long day of walking, no one wants to spend a full hour on the bus. My only explanation was that Explorica was simply saving money.

Explorica did a great job of organizing activities, providing great meals and service, and keeping everyone safe. We had a great tour experience and can't wait to go again.

We had a great tour guide in Spain who was flexible, knowledgeable and accommodating. We had full days, great recommendations for our free time and the hotels and food were quite good.
