I travelled 3 months in South America with my girlfriend, and after some research we decided to go with a True Traveller insurance. So happy with the choice. Unfortunately we’ve had an instance of theft during the trip, and the team at True Traveler was professional and great in helping us both in the short term providing guidance on how to manage (eg police report) and in the medium term providing refunds for covered stolen items (thank you Zeus for managing the case). Website is very good and informative. Prices competitive. Customer attention and speed of response high. Highly recommended.

EDIT: the response below is false. They had the payment details they mention for external healthcare company Medcom for almost a month, and there are outstanding payments for the hospital that they have certainly had the details for for over 5 months. I need proof of payment for these in order for my hospital debts to be cleared and myself to stop receiving debt collection notices, but I did not get this, only a long detailed email this morning complaining about how this is the fault of the North American healthcare system that in their words I will receive debt collection notices for 'years to come' (can't wait), not as a result of the incompetency experienced with this company and AXA - they were told they had 3 months to pay, they didn't, and now I'm in this mess.
5 months ago while abroad I underwent 2 unexpected major surgeries and spent a month in hospital. My experience with True Traveller has been nothing short of horrific and traumatic.
For the first month I was completely incapacitated and my partner was handling the claim. Everything was approved and we were told everything would be taken care of. Then, I took over the handling of the claim from my bed, as I still continue to do in my recovery, and it has been absolutely awful.
I spent a long time in hospital and had several after care services post discharge that needed to be paid. Getting each individual invoice to be paid has been an excruciating process. I've had to send them numerous times, check up on their payment constantly, an average of about 5 emails per invoice batch over weeks is sent by me checking up on these *time sensitive* invoices from the hospital. When I do get emails, they're INCREDIBLY late, they're often nonsensical and completely ignore what I was saying in my original email. The hospital themselves have complained to me on numerous occasions that they can't get a hold of anyone at AXA/TT via email or fax, and 5 MONTHS later I have now been on the receiving end of multiple *debt collection* notices from the hospital because invoices that TT said would be paid were not. I got my final notice from the hospital over 2 last remaining unpaid invoices and have been trying DESPERATELY to get a hold of TT to no avail. After about 6 emails to AXA and my contact at TT they said they would send me payment confirmation that the hospital need, and yet about 10 days later and several emails with me checking up on it, nothing has come through and my time is almost up.
I'm at my absolute wits end. I paid a huge chunk of money for this service because I was told it was great. I should not under any circumstances have had to chase this up and be this stressed over claims that were approved because they do not pay on time or do not send the hospital any confirmation so that they can erase my balance. I've been left in tears multiple times over this situation, while I recover from two major surgeries and deal with the repercussions to my life. This has been absolutely horrendous. DO NOT use this service.

I took out a family insurance policy when I was travelling around the world in the hope we would never need to use. Unfortunately when we were away someone on a moped tried to my crossover bag dragging me to the ground causing me to break my collar bone. My husband immediately contacted True Traveller from the hospital to explain the situation and to find out the best course of action. I chose to fly back to the UK to receive surgery 2 days later. True Traveller were not like other insurance companies, they treated me like a human being and were genuinely concerned about my injuries. After sending off my receipts and hospital letters I was regularly updated on the process of my claim, which was settled several days later. I could not have asked for a better service from Dasa (agent) at True Traveller. I would highly recommend True Traveller to all my friends and family.

"Great service once documents uploaded"
Bought a year long global travel policy with True Traveller. Thought the cost and coverage was good in comparison to competitors. Used the policy to reclaim the cost of an online GP consultation and subsequent visit to local emergency care while travelling. I made sure to collect receipts and doctors notes from both. Once I had made the claim with True Traveller online, it was processed and paid exceptionally quickly with no further questions. Great service. The process of making the claim online was quite difficult as the system refused to accept photos of the receipts uploaded from both an apple and android phone (even though they were in the acceptable formats listed e.g. JPEG). We tried converting to PDF but these were rejected due to size. Finally accepted compressed PDF files.

I took out a policy with them for the first time as I was going to Nepal. I got food poisoning and was in hospital for a week. My partner called them from UK and they were brilliant and said from start we will guarantee payment. They emailed me daily for updates but otherwise dealt with the hospital directly and paid them. The emails from them were kind and caring and I didn’t have to worry at all about the cost. In addition they agreed I could upgrade to business class and even offered me a taxi home. When I got home I put my claim in for the flight upgrade and other expenses I had incurred as a result of being unwell and the money was in my account the next day! The form was so easy to complete too. They are just the BEST company ever and I’m truly glad to have been insured with them at a time I really needed it. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend them to everyone!! Thank you to the company and all the staff for their genuine and caring support

Incredible service - Easy claim - Efficient Support. I had issues in a remote part of Nepal. I sent an email and within 20 minutes I had a reply. I was given advice and when I returned and made a claim I had the case file opened (from the email) and everything went through within 2 days. Like I explained in detail what happened but then no questions asked - boom - money in my account. Nice an easy. Def recommend. Thank you so much

Me and my partner have used true traveller a couple of times now and as long as you have the right paperwork from the hospital and proof of payment, your claim will be settled. (ours have been settled within 24 hours)
