I bought a backpackers policy and made a few claims, had a very good experience. Coverage was very clearly described, making it easy to cover the sports and countries I needed. When it came to a claim, I could do everything without a laptop, got paid quickly and it went straight into my account. Claims team communicated clearly and quickly.
I had a medical incident in the USA, and I tried to get in touch with them - you're directed to do this if your costs are likely to exceed £500 - and couldn't speak to somebody quickly, so had to proceed without their input. Fortunately they covered my costs in full, minus excess, so they still did very well.
I travelled for 15 months using their cover, they deserve five stars and I'd recommend them highly.

I read the all the excellent reviews before buying a policy. I unfortunately had my phone pick-pocketed(stolen) on the Metro in Santiago Chile. After which I reported it to the local police and obtained proof.
I received the money for the claim, 36 hours after I submitted it. Wow!!! Excellent service - they deserve all their praise

"Severe injury, very poor service"
I had a severe injury in South Africa whereby I almost lost my finger after a deck chair I was sitting on collapsed. Upon arriving into the hospital I was left to liaise with two representatives from TrueTraveller in two different locations. These employees did not communicate with one another and to my surprise , left me to be the middle man, which I was in no fit state to do. After waiting for 4 hours with my finger severely injured, the hospital informed me that TrueTraveller were not going to pay for the required operation and that I would have to cover £6,000, on a credit card, or I would be asked to leave the hospital with immediate effect. Getting TrueTraveller to authorise the operation took me multiple phone calls over a time period of 5 hours. I was left to liaise with staff in different locations who were not communicating with one another. At the time I was lying in A&E, losing blood. It was well into the night by the time the claim was finally approved which meant that the operation could only happen the following day. I have given TrueTraveller 2 stars as they did eventually authorise the payment for the operation. Following my stressful and unnecessary experience, I would not recommend TrueTraveller or any insurance through AXA, who own this company.

Highly recommend this insurance company. My wife and I had booked a holiday to Florida (Disney). Unfortunately I broke my ankle a few days before we were due to travel. I made a claim (completed the form and supporting documents) and within 10 days my claim was approved and the money was paid
