"Faulty cooker"

My cooker was faulty and I made quite a few calls before I contacted Capital. From that first call to getting the job done communication was easy. Totally happy with service received and contact details filed away should I need them again.

"It took me a while to find anyone that…"

It took me a while to find anyone that would service and repair my 20 year old Rangemaster but once I found Capital they attended within a week, ordered the spare parts and returned a week later to undertake the repairs, incredibly effective and the service men that came were very pleasant and knew what they were doing, could not have been any less hassle!

"Avoid this company!"

We tried to get our fridge freezer repaired and got referred to this company by Rangemaster because our appliance was out of warranty. We were passed to Repairtech who seemed to subcontract the job to Capital Repairs. The engineer who came out inspected the fridge and explained that he would need to order a new part to effect a repair - the return visit would incur another labour charge; not great, but acceptable. However, the engineer then started poking around looking for other appliances to inspect - he said that there was a problem with the tumble drier that was in the same room, even though it is working well, and produced another quote to "fix it", and had the audacity to present us with an invoice for another call out charge - even though we had not asked him to look at the tumble drier and he had not explained that he would levy another charge if he did so. He then asked to see any other appliances that we had, obviously with the intention to drum up more work - at which point he was asked to leave. The engineer then sat in his car outside our house for more that 20 minutes, I wonder if they get paid by the time that they spend on a job?!
We rang Capital Repairs to complain about the engineer's behaviour and asked for a refund of the second "Call Out Fee", but met with little understanding and a request to put in a formal complaint, which we will be doing.
Our advice would be to avoid this company at all costs and get a reputable company via checkatrade - on which Capital Repairs is unsurprisingly not listed.

"Professional Service - Inequitable Payment Policy"

The first call was arranged on an agreed day between 08.00 and 18.00. The engineer came after this time, without prior text or telephone contact.

Once he arrived, the service, diagnosis and advice were all very good indeed.

The subsequent estimate for the parts and repair was very competitive. However, the company policy is to charge the customer in full for the estimate before agreeing to to purchase the parts and nominate a date for return to complete the repair.

This leaves the customer, having paid in full, with no agreed date of return. In a worst case scenario, the company has been paid in full and could choose not to progress the repair with any urgency and push the already paid for repair to the bottom of the queue, while pursuing fresh or more lucrative call outs as it best suits their interests.

Under this policy, the service company holds all the aces. The customer has no cards at all and just has to trust the company, loose the call out charge already invested by going somewhere else, or lump it.

This is not a good balance between customer and service company, not a shared risk and thus not a great basis for building trust. A fifty percent deposit, with the balance to be paid on timely and successful completion of the repair would be a much fairer policy, both giving the consumer some assurance and the company an incentive to complete the task as quickly as possible to the best standards.

"My gas cooker has had a replacement…"

My gas cooker has had a replacement part fitted today, by Jason, who diagnosed the fault. He was excellent. Certainly 5 stars.
The main problem was the reporting of the fault and my request for an engineer's visit. I was given a date and time and waited in all day, only to be told that 'the job had been given to another engineer who would come another day'. This was after I 'phoned to ask what was going on, as no one had contacted me. My details, post code, type of cooker etc. were not recognised by your office and each time I called these had to be verified. I feel the ancillary service let down the final excellent job that was done.

"Cooker delivery"

Our cooker was delivered on time on the allocated day with a message beforehand to say when they would arrive. Gary and Zach were really polite and efficiently set up the cooker and patiently explained it's workings. They also took away the old cooker and left the area they were working in, clean and tidy. Very pleased with the service provided.
