I put in a warranty claim for my broken Blunt XS Metro umbrella on 21st July, 2022.
It was actually quite a dangerous ordeal, as when i went to open the umbrella and clicked the button, the upwards force of the runner actually caused the steel ferrule, end and cap to burst out of the umbrella and hurtling into a busy carpark intersection during heavy flash rainfall. Luckily, no people or property were harmed, but I was also reluctant to retrieve most of the parts given the situation.
I had purchased the umbrella direct from their website, so I was able to prove that it had been less than two years since I had purchased it, which covers it under the warranty. I included pictures of the umbrella after the fact, with the tube extending fully beyond the extent of the umbrella. I'm lucky that didn't fly off too.
I have not heard back since making the claim over a month ago. When I call the number on their website it just goes to voicemail, which insultingly calls for me to send it in for repairs. Your umbrella almost caused damage to two cars (it was only lucky that it happened to fly off between the two moving cars only 2 metres apart) for which I would have been liable.
To say that this company takes your money with a false promise of a 2-year warranty before ghosting you would not be inaccurate. I have previously purchased several of the same umbrellas before, at retail and online. Every time I swore by them to my friends that a new trend and culture around coveting high quality umbrellas as a fashion accessory would reduce waste. But unfortunately they have simply become bigger versions of what they abhorred in the first place.
As there is no reply to any of these claims, I have provided these to Product Safety Australia at the ACCC. This type of near miss could cause serious harm, especially at the size and material of these small umbrella parts which constitute choking hazards.
Update: Blunt has called me to respond and apologise. The umbrella's breaking was apparently a batch defect, my warranty claim was deleted due to human error (the person who made the error called personally to apologise) and yesterday when I called, the office was out celebrating. They have offered to send a complimentary replacement umbrella as well as repair my current one.
I'm happy to see that this was a misunderstanding and that my favourite umbrella brand does not ignore after sales customer service.

What a ridiculously small umbrella!!! I specifically didn’t choose the compact hoping it would at least cover your average adult. The stick is long but the coverage is so lacking! What a complete rip off.
