1 star is being very generous to this company! The customer service was rude, unhelpful, & awful with communications! The movers picked our stuff up from our apartment in Phoenix, AZ. On May 30th, & god only knows where they kept our stuff for nearly 2 MONTHS, before finally delivering to our new apartment in Charlotte, NC. On June 25th. 2 Months! Absolutely unacceptable! We’re definitely missing a few boxes/bags. For whatever reason they completely took my Whiskey barrel apart, which will cost a couple hundred to have it re-assembled (seeing I don’t have the proper tools to put it back together). This company is an absolute joke, & they do not care about the customers at all. They take your money & could give 2 F%%ks about what happens to your valuables! Thanks for stealing my hard earned money & 2 months of living hell AMF you useless fleabags! -5 stars would still be too friendly for AMF

"They never showed up"

I had a representative named John that was nice in the beginning, then once I signed the contract and the moving date started getting closer, he had a covid exposure (I don't buy it) and could no longer help with any questions.

They gave me a 3 day pickup window, that came and went while I was waiting with all of my bags packed. I kept calling and asking for updates, I was told that I would know when the drivers would arrive before they (the company) did because the drivers would contact me directly. That never happened and the movers never showed up. I never heard from American again.

I was stuck last minute having to move an apartments' worth of stuff all by myself (a single young woman) because American totally ghosted me. Pick a different company, these people aren't to be trusted

"It’s a SCAM"

It’s a SCAM! They gave me an estimate, asked me for a deposit and canceled 3 times the moving day.

So finally after I called them 15 times they sent 2 guys that brought a little kid (4 years old) together to pickup my stuff. They were completely UNPREPARED and UNPROFESSIONAL.

But there is something else: THE ESTIMATE CHANGED and now is 50% more expensive.

Well, I didn’t agree and lost my initial deposit of $1,800.

That’s my experience.

After completing the agreement to move several items from a storage unit to our new home out of state, AMF called about 1 week prior to the pick up date and said we needed to allocate more space for of course more money. Why, when they had a list of items and price that was already agreed on. When the truck showed up there was not the room for my items. They have replied to my previous review that things could have been repacked. They things were packed already in the truck IF they could have squeezed my things in which i seriously doubt, they probably would have broken my stuff which is not what I was paying thousands of dollars for.

"Do not use!"

Moving is stressful. You're spending thousands of dollars to move across country. You want to work with a company that will not only move your things but also be responsive (able to give you an update about where your things are), have great customer service, and clearly communicate.

American Moving and Freight does none of the above. When you speak to them before you sign the contract, they act as if they are doing the move themselves, but actually they are contracting out the move to other smaller moving companies.

For my move, when I called to get an update about the status of when my things arrived, I got a sarcastic reply that it takes awhile to drive from NY to CA. The unprofessional customer service was a recurring theme after you pay your fees and tips. I had two large furniture items that were lost and they just told me to file a claim with company they contracted out to.

For any business people out there---this is a market that is lacking a modern company to do what we expect from other companies.

In summary, do NOT hire American Moving and Freight to do your move!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are criminals. They are liars. Do not believe anything they tell you. I have never ever worked with a more dishonest company. It’s been over a week. I have no idea where my stuff is or when it will come. They don’t answer calls. Every customer service representative is a liar. The sales people will stop talking to you after they make their sale- it’s a boiler room.

As others have written below, they are only sales people who out source to another company who is the carrier. The carrier companies are also extremely shady and loosely affiliated. There are no protections. There is no customer service. They are thieves and perpetually lie. It is unbelievable that they are allowed to function.

Please ensure you determine who the carrier will be. They are NOT the carrier. The carriers are often even less legitimate fronts for corrupt businesses. The one they assigned me to is currently under investigation, had a legal action against them, has no proof of insurance, operates under several different names of companies involved in fraud and scams.

"Fabulous move!"

They arrived on time and were very efficient. They did a great job of Tetris'ing everything in to fit efficiently. They wrapped everything loose, safely moved my pictures in a separate box from the rest of the bulky items, and moved everything into my storage unit (which was much smaller than my house). I will be re-hiring them when my new place is ready.

They were amazing! They were punctual, took care of our stuff, and completed our move fastly and efficiently. They were all so kind and listened to all our concerns! I'll be using them in the future! It's scarce to find a moving company with good, responsible people.

I have found AMF to be Untrustworthy, Lazy, and Unresponsive.

I Planned a simple move from Cal to Las Vegas, NV and answered an inquire through google, a rep from American Freight and Moving (James) reached out and started the conversation, after checking with Better Business Bureau and the DO, I found 0 violations, so I thought great.

After speaking in-depth with James and Dwayne regarding the amount of Cubic Square Feet (CF) needed ,we were able to narrow down the cost, so I decided to move forward, I signed the Brokers agreement, paid the 738.00 brokers fee and set the move date… Thought I good to go until!

Prosperity movers (Brokered by AMF) located in the California Bay Area, shows up a Day Late and "Revised" the original bid from $3400 TO ***$9000***.
The Forman representing Prosperity Movers operating in Oakland California are total scammers, using switch and bait, jacking up pricing to over Double

American Fright and Moving Company contracts with Prosperity Movers and exposing their customers to and leaving us (AMF) customers pray to the unconscionable and unscrupulous business practices, and when something go’s wrong, AMG will leave its customers without support or recourse; basically giving the (Brokered) Customers the Middle Finger Salute and without an apology

Please learned by my experience with American Fright and Moving (aka AMF) and Prosperity Moving and Storage...Just Don't!!!

I Trusted AMF to broker my move and Losted $738.00

I found out the hard way, AFM Company are Brokers a they’re selling you on their services, But, once, they (AMF) have your money, you'er SOL and possibly taking a loss.
My best advice, Never Do Business with either companies...American Freight and Moving nor Prosperity Moving and Storage company (originally from Florida) now doing business in Washington and California.

Prosperity Moving and Storage is absolutely devoid of any kind of business integrity and should not be trusted.
