"Appalling service"
I ordered a vertical blind from Homefair's Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough showroom, for my bow window. When it was fitted, I noticed a 3 inch gap at each end, between the end slat and the wall. I expected no or little gap. As it is, anyone passing can see in, which rather defeats the purpose of the blinds.
I reported this to Homefair and expressed my dissatisfaction. This was 2 weeks ago. The person who originally measured up came to my home and made a very minor adjustment to the blind, which has made not much difference. His view was it was correctly measured, and the gap was due to how the window was made.
My opinion is that the track is too short, and that if it were 2 inches longer with an additional slat at each end, there would be no gap. To me this is glaringly obvious.
When I said that, his first reaction was to say that the track could not be made longer. To which I replied that obviously it could not be made longer, what is required is a new track.
He then proceeded to list all the reasons why they would not do this, head office would not agree, it was measured to defined standards as laid down etc etc. He maintained that the blinds were correctly measured.
I can smell bulls**t when it is being made, and this was pure bs.
Reading some the preceding reviews, I noticed that some of them claim that when a mistake is made by a Homefair rep, then the cost of correcting that mistake falls upon the rep.
If that is the case, it is no wonder he was denying that a mistake had been made. His opinion is hardly unbiased. For fairness to me, the customer, a different rep should have been sent.
I felt that he was trying to take advantage of the fact that I am disabled and in my 80's, and that I would be a push-over. All to avoid the expense of a new track.
Well, I am not a push-over and I have written an e-mail to Trading Standards.
Homefair-do the right thing.
