JCP Estate Agents

"Terrible experience"
When viewing property to rent would book holiday off work to make 2hr trip to Oxford to view house. Twice the viewing was frustratingly cancelled with less than 1hrs notice due to tenants either cancelling or no longer being present and estate agent didn't have spare set of keys.
Very poor communication when asked if we could extend tenancy by 1 month. Arranged it ourselves with the landlord since JCP never got back to us.
By end of tenancy, many many viewings were repeatedly booked in for the next day (most with less than 24hrs notice) without checking if that was okay with us (we WFH and have regularly have calls/meetings). We pushed back on this and were told we somewhat owed them for arranging the tenancy extension...
After moving out landlord promptly emailed them saying they were happy to return the full deposit. Had to wait nearly 4 weeks for the deposit to be returned despite numerous calls. Apparently only one person in the office was capable of returning the deposit and was constantly on various holidays and never got round to sorting the deposit on the days they were in. JCP rarely told us the full picture and usually kept saying it would be paid the next day...
I know estate agents usually get a bad rep but JCP are genuinely without a doubt the worst estate agents I've ever had the misfortune to have to interact with. No communication when you need it but rapid responses when it suits them.

"Terrible to deal with"
Terrible to deal with, rude and uncooperative. My daughter moved in with her friends and the property was filthy although it was supposed to have had a professional clean. When they all moved out the property was left in a far cleaner state with all parents helping however the agents kept a huge percentage of the deposit for ridiculous reasons. We all took photos of the sparkling toilets, limescale free showers etc however after months of prevaricating they sent a report showing a different set of photos, including black-stained toilets saying that's how it was left. My daughter phoned to complain but they were incredibly rude and threatening and we all decided to cut our losses rather than have the students fight it in court, which is what they bank on I guess.

"Francis: A professional agent "
We have recently purchased an Oxford apartment via Francis Winstone-Partridge, Director of JCP Estate Agents. Francis has been extremely friendly, efficient and professional in helping us liaise with the seller and the solicitors from day one to the completion of transaction. We're truly appreciative and grateful for Francis's excellent service!

"Excellent experience with JCP- Thank you"
Honestly, I couldn't thank JCP enough for the tough sell they did on our behalf, considering the current House Market situation - we were able to sell our home finally. The communication with Teresa was simply transparent and provided clarity, and more so there were regular communications and suggestions - whenever any matters arose in between the time of the selling. I would definitely recommend JCP for the excellent client-tailored-based services that they
provide. Thank you to Teresa and the team!

"Do not rent from this company"
I can only agree with the shambolic service others have received. Unclean house, broken furniture, slug infestation, mould, ill fitting and broken furnishings. Do not rent from this company they are shameful and will blatantly lie to your face to tell you that they are fixing your problems - with no actual outcome.

"The most useless Agency"
Honestly the most useless, unreliable agency I've ever met. The house was disgusting from when we first moved in, there was no effort to clean anything or maintain the garden. Things in the house were broken before we arrived, broken beds, broken dishwasher, broken lights, broken doors. I explain living in that house like living in a drug den. Amir Courdkhalag was our point of contact and was useless. Never answered emails, and when he did was the furthest thing from helpful. Most emails I sent I recieved an out of office reply. Never there, and even when he was he may as well not have been. Avoid them like the plague.

"Breach of Tenant Fees Act 2019"
JCP Estate Agents are taking more than one Holding Deposit for same rental accommodation which is a breach of the Tenants Fees Act 2019. This states that only one Holding deposit allowed for a property. Therefore, JCP lettings are in clear breach of this act and illegally taking holding deposits.

"Absolutely terrible experience"
Absolutely terrible experience. Poor service from agents and organising snowflake tenants to sign documents to leave a tenancy nearly impossible.

"The worst renting experience I’ve ever…"
The worst renting experience I’ve ever had, living in Oxford as a student I’ve been completely disregarded by them as none of the staff clearly care for their jobs at all. We were refused the landlords contact details yet when confronted with a problem jcp simple tell us it’s not their problem or fault. Who am I meant to contact then??. Furthermore we where lied too about the property and a year in the countless problems are still not fixed. I’ve sent countless emails which I asked to be forwarded to the landlord which have clearly been ignored and my housemate even had to refuse to leave their office until one of them did something about the broken locks on doors. Terrible terrible estate agents.

"By far the worst experience I've had"
Review of 113 Walton St, Oxford OX2 6AJ
By far the worst experience we've ever had from an estate agent! It took over a month and a half to get our deposit back, meaning we very nearly could not pay the rent on our new flat and faced eviction. Typically deposits should be given back in 10 days, but this was not the case here. We were also charged over £300 in cleaning fees despite the fact we left the flat in a much better state than when we found it. They even tried to charge us for lightbulbs that were missing when we got there. They also used the classic strategy of charging us exorbitant cleaning fees and then trying to look reasonable by saying that we could meet them 'halfway' when there should have been no fees in the first place!
The communication in particular was dire. We were constantly ringing and emailing trying to get hold of the office and being ignored. On the other hand, when it was time to get money from us the service suddenly became marvelously efficient!
They also attempted to get us to pay 2 months rent in advance despite the fact that this was not in our original contract. If we had not disputed this and gone into their office I have no doubt they would have been happy to be in breach of contract and take the two months rent from us.
There are good estate agents out there no doubt, but I definitely recommend avoiding this one!
