"Hostile, prejudiced and possibly racist"

Went here today to microchip identify a dog that I found on the streets the previous night.
My friend called the place earlier about bringing the dog in, and they said they will call me for a slot but they never did.
I walked in on my own, and everyone was nice except the lead receptionist, who was cold from the start and kept dismissing anything I said about finding the dog. Found this weird, but thought it was just a personal behaviour.

After her identifying and ringing the owner, I asked if I may know the name of the dog I had sheltered, and I was told I can't know any details because it is protocol. Harsh, but that's her call. I waited for the owner to come about so I can bid my goodbye to the little one.

The owner wasnt excited to see the dog and vice versa. I was chatting about how they lost the sweet dog and she asked where I found her, and the same lady from the reception barges out shouting "is everything okay?" to the owner as if I was the problem.
This behaviour was completely uncalled for, and definitely had racist tones.
Please tell me, why is a brown man bringing in a lost dog, taking the pain, time, loss of sleep, and expenses of it all, seemingly suspicious and evoking hostility in you?

I thanked them while leaving and mentioned calmly that the owner doesn't even seem too happy with the reunion, and she dismissed me again as if I was a nuisance, saying "you're overthinking, this happens all the time even to my dog. The dog was happy seeing the owner didnt you see that? Have a good evening" to cut me off, to which I had to respond I'm thinking right, probably you arent. And also, you're not a good person if your dog keeps running out "all the time".

What a terrible person to be the face of a vet clinic. I wonder if any other person of colour had a similar experience with this lady.
It is 2024 for God's sake, that too in London of all the places, for you to be hostile against people of colour due to your prejudice. No amount of sensitivity training and recalibration can remove the bias and latent racism in such people. Utterly disappointing and disgusting.

"pure profiteering"

The vets do not provide a good service, you get the feeling there is a lot of profiteering going on. They are not connected within their own network, chasing results instead of being contacted. Disappointed to say the least as it is very expensive and they try to sell you more and more rather than actually worrying about your pet

"Profiteering nightmare"

Profiteering nightmare
My dog had bad cut on leg. First visit £195 for cleaning, superglue cut and banadage.
Follow up wound check, 10 mins to check and redress (sticky plaster and bandage) £120.87. No invoice given so requested this and cost of materials was £64.87 (consultation was £56) Outrageous for a bit of bandage and a plaster. Will be changing vets immediately.

"2 months still waiting for them to make claim..."

Wanted to change my vet called Winchmore Hill Village Vet. They said they had my pet plan policy there and I was a known customer and would be charged on pet plan insurance....
On the day the veterinary doctor told me no problems and they would charge petplan....
30 minutes later I got a call demanding the money right away was sent a payment email...
I thought ok no problem I will pay and they said they would make the claim for me and refund my money...
2 months down the line and all I hear is the person that does claims was back logged...was on holiday..never works when I call....
ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES IF YOU WANT TO GET ROBBED GO HERE.

"I'm in the wrong business "

Wow Dom, you got away lightly mate. My wife has 2 rats and one developed a nasty sore on her head, possibly fighting with the other one. Left it a couple of days but didn't seem to be healing. I've used the same Village vet a couple of years ago with my other rats so, she took it to them again. Took the Rat into the vet, he tried to get her out but to no avail, didn't even hold her, well, no problem, he's a vet he knows what he's doing and told me he would give me some ointment to put on at home. He then said, " I think this will work on Rats, it's for Dogs"!!! What? 5 mins later, went to the reception desk......." That will be.....wait for it ...£98 please?" Nobody wants to look an idiot so I paid and left, got back in the car and went home furious. If you are rich, by all means use them but?

"Never again"

I am a long established, high star rated licensed dog breeder. One of my beloved dogs had a terrible whelping and we took her to the out of hours vet (Village Vet) through the phone service of my regular vet.

I was asked to pay £800 before they even looked at her. I then received a call saying there was a new estimate of £6k. After I gasped I was told it could be lower maybe £4k but she may not survive anyway. Who uses a sick, distressed animal as a bargaining tool? Whilst this is going on she’s laying there suffering. I felt I had no choice but to have her PTS. When we arrived at the practice we were met with an abrupt receptionist with a total lack of compassion. Not to mention feeling like emotional blackmail with our sick dog from the vet I spoke to..

Never again.

"I do not recommend"

I do not recommend! Horrendous experience with my dog who got injured by a car. Telling me that they didn’t have the equipment and I had to go to another village vet. Extremely overpriced! He didn’t get checked by one vet and gave me an estimate of £2000. I took my dog to Blue Cross Victoria and they were absolutely amazing. Cost £30

"Profiteering…"

We have used two Village Vets over the last 5 years. And they are the kings and queens of mark-up. Their medication costs are 3 times the cost online and they charge the earth. £70 consult for anything, £65 for a follow up. Every time you walk out of the surgery you are at a minumum £200 worse off, no matter what it is. Demand prescriptions so you can shop online for the same meds. In times of financial hardship they are profiteering it seems.

"Cost of a 5 min consultation - £61"

I've been with this vets for a number of years and knew they were expensive. But my recent experience was gobsmacking..... I wanted to get an indication of whether my puppy was ok for spaying. We went to the consultation room the vet played with the dog for ~5 mins, checked a chart and stated that the dog was too young, please come back once they are over 1 year old. The whole thing took 7 mins. The receptionist tried to charge me £61. This equates to +£500/hr....
