A really good experience marred by the time it takes to get a consultation.
Appreciate that there are unprecedented volumes of people coming through this pathway at the moment, but it is frustrating to have to wait weeks and months to get a consultation.

"Positive Experience"
Our experience with Psicon was all positive. The only slight annoyance was that the Basingstoke office was not easy to find because the signage was barely non exisistent!

"Clear, Concise, friendly and helpful."
The staff was really welcoming, they had called us to explain what was happening and what to expect on appointments, everything was really clear and concise.
We were never left wondering what was going on.
They had great communication skills with the children and made everyone feel at ease. The offices were homely and not clinical which made the appointment feel more relaxing.

"Transparent and accurate time scales"
We found the transparecy and accuracy of the time scales very helpful. For each stage of the assessment process we were informed about the time that we would need to wait, and these time scales were 100% accurate each time.
The assessor on the day of the assessment was clear with her questioning.
It was also very helpful to get a verbal result that day before waiting for the written report.

"Poor experience"
Poor experience
Unfortunately our experience with Pscion has so far been pretty poor. Even though the overall waiting time was shorter than it could have been on the NHS, I had to chase my son's report after 10 weeks. This was despite the assessor telling me she was completing the report as she went through the assessment. Why there is such a long wait for a report is beyond me - I can't think of any other sector where it would take this long to issue a conclusion from a meeting.
I am still no further with actually getting my child onto medication well over three months on from the initial assessment, and have been told they are unable to give me any indication of when this appointment may be due to long waiting times. This is all so incredibly frustrating - why can't medication be initiated more quickly for children with a diagnosis.
Finally, the assessment was done online for our child with ADHD which was very convenient. However, we went through the history and talked about all of his hyperactive traits, and he was sat next to me in the meeting fiddling and fidgety, but at the end of the meeting the assessor said she could not diagnose hyperactivity as she was unable to see my child's hyperactive traits during the meeting - this was because it was online!
I appreciate more funding is needed, but overall I feel these services could be run so much more efficiently and effectively.

"Kind, approachable and thorough, we were so pleased."
Psicon as a company are incredibly efficient and have very kind and approachable staff. Our little boy had an ASD assessment here and he really felt at ease and enjoyed the first part of his assessment and the report we received was extremely thorough with support resources included. Would highly recommend.

"Totally recommend "
Incredible helpful and make the process of getting your child diagnosed smooth and as stressfree as possible. My child has just been diagnosed with ADHD through them saving years waiting on the NHS. We went via the right to choose programme.

"Autism Assessment 9 Year old daughter"
We used the NHS right-to-choose pathway to get an Autism assessment for our 9 year old daughter at Psicon. Every phone call I had to Psicon was very helpful, a bit of a wait on hold sometimes, but once you get through they do their utmost to give you all the information you need. It felt like a long wait to hear that our paperwork had been received, but then everything progressed faster than we expected. The day of the in-person assessment the only snag was that I hadn't been told on the phone or in writing that I needed to bring in a birth certificate to confirm ID which caused some stress (although staff assured me I could send it later). The offices were easy to find and sensory friendly, all staff very friendly and considerate, and the whole process was a positive experience for us overall.
We were quoted 6-9 months from first contact to diagnosis, and Psicon hit that pretty bang on. It took around 3 months for our initial paperwork to be processed, and for our questionnaires to be sent to us. 2 months later we had our in-person appointment. 6 weeks after that appointment we had our parent consultation, ending with a verbal diagnosis. 8 weeks after that we received the formal written report.

"Responsive and helpful staff"
Was seen quickly and found the staff knowledgeable and responsive. They were very helpful and resassuring even when my son behaved in quite challenging ways during the assessment. I received the report promptly and it is clear and helpful. Overall very pleased.
